now 11:00, a deadly rampage across two south bay cities. a rampage of carjackings, stabbings and two hit and runs. police said that it took one ma less than 90 minutes to carry i out. >> from kpix, this is the lates with sara donchey on cbs news bay area. >> hello, i am sara donchey. we begin with breaking news tonight. terror and fear in th south bay after police say a ma went on a violent rampage leaving six victims in two cities. this started after 3:00 this afternoon in san jose and ended about 90 minutes later in milpitas where police arrested the man in this video. we saw him sitting on the curb in handcuffs. police said the suspect stabbed a total of thre people and rammed at least thre others with a carjacked vehicle andrea nakano is in san jose

tonight with us with the latest on this baffling chain of events. >> reporter: it was an extremel chaotic and baffling day at the south bay. i am here at the target where one of the incidents happened. as you can see behind me, this whole area still cordoned off with crime tape and several police officer are at the scene. according to police, three people have been went on a stabbing spree from here to milpitas. >> when it happened i was reall surprised. it is like a safe neighborhood, so it is like wow >> reporter: residents were terrified by the string of stabbings. the first incidents happened just after 3:00 at the corner. police said that a victim was stabbed during the carjacking and has life-threatening injuries. then about 20 minutes later the suspect struck again and he stabbed another driver during another carjacking. he then hit

a pedestrian as he tried to flee. both victims survived as well. the case took a deadly turn at the crime scene on 16th and santa clara. investigators say that the suspect intentionally rammed two people killing them both. the 90 minutes after it all began, a final and deadly stabbing in this smart and final parking lo in milpitas. officers were able to catch up to the suspect near milpitas man in this video in handcuffs is the one that terrorized the south bay. >> as of right now we feel comfortable that there is no ongoing threat to the public, and i want everybody rest assured and feeling safe tonight. >> reporter: police are still looking into other potential crimes. >> if anybody has more information about incidents involving violent felonies that occurred during this afternoon

time period in san jose other jurisdictions, we want to know about those. >> reporter: for ordonez it wil take time for him to feel safe again after hearing about this crime spree. >> it scares me a little becaus i cannot -- it feels like i can't walk around that much by myself, or like late at night. >> reporter: the big question i what led the suspect to commit all these crimes? police say they don't have a motive yet. we are of course hoping to learn much more about this. we are told that the two people wh survived the stabbings do have life-threatening injuries, and the pedestrian who was hit near target will be okay. tonight, san jose mayor said he was sickened by the violence and he thanked officers for dealing with the catastrophe. pretty shocking story in oakland. a judge was robbed of his rolex just a block away fro the county courthouse. police say suspects pulled a gun on hi as he was getting out of his

car. they drove away in a light -colored hyundai. the judge was not hurt during the robbery. take a look at your screen. they have spent their lives serving right here in the bay area but a family of coast guar servicemembers heading out on their next tour heartbroken after thieves made off with their most prized possessions. >> reporter: it is a heartbreaker. i enjoyed meeting this family. they are from the bay area. they served in the coast guard . they are leaving to go to florida and they are set to go to florida tomorrow only to find out that their rv is stolen out of the hotel parking lot. they call their rv rb, and that is because their little son did not know how to

a battle is brewing in fremont over a set of boulders meant to deter rv parking. the city installed them along the road saying that they were for safety, but 57-year-old woman

>> and i went on this diet it was five times a week. >> reporter: it was months after the tuna diet when she noticed that her work designing homes was being affected. >> i have lots of symptoms, lik i could not finish my work. i would go to do my drawing and i would not be able to work out m mathematics. >> reporter: it turned out ther was more than just fish in all but tuna. there was also mercury. >> mercury is a heavy metal and i would say that heavy metals are a bigger issue than pesticides. >> reporter: this is the ceo of safe cat. >> reporter: the fda found that about one in five cans , in can of tuna that is not tested, one in five cans have a spike in mercury. nobody wants a spike o mercury in their food.

>> reporter: so they did a test. >> every single can of tuna is tested. every single individual can. >> reporter: and that is just a big a job as it sounds. >> we test individually about 10,000 tuna per day. we invente a mercury analyzer that is high-speed. we take what looks like a modified drill bit and w put it into our machine and in 45 seconds we have parts per billion of mercury in the fish. that is so important because tw identical tuna can vary in mercury by 10 times. many of th companies don't test as much tuna as we test in a day. >> reporter: including bonnie. >> that's mine. i am awake and have no mechanical problem and no mental problem and i am able to work. >> reporter: and it's all because of her son shawn.

today the all-female crew just received one of the highes awards in their organization. the organization is part of boy scouts of america and is dedicated to developing leadership skills. they compete for the national award, which the tide-that group just on for their time together. >> not only were they super excited about this, but to have an admiral, and present them with another award at this huge event for them, they just came off of another competition wher they have earned some big titles. so in general they are kind of flying high right now. >> they are going to compete in 25 different events from sailin to rowing to not-tying. all useful skills! how many of those skills do you think you would pass? >> i think i would pass none of

them! what about you? >> maybe one of them. if you ar on a boat to get some complicated stuff. let's take look at what is happening weather-wise as we get to the weekend. a warming trend in store for us as the parade of ripples in the atmosphere will take a little break. high pressure is building and meetin there will be more atmosphere overhead, and that means temperatures will warm up. take a look at the temperature rolle coaster ride over the next 10 days. warming up into the 80s and then back down into the 70s mid-70s next week. it is not a four-flesh cold snap but it is return to slightly below averag temperatures. you probably will not enjoy the increased in pollen that is associated with the warmer temperature. saturda and sunday we climb into the median high category for a

couple of days. it is grass, al of an privet pollen. let's take a look outside right now. san jose not seeing far developing overhead just yet. it will be a bit more sparse compared to wha we had earlier in the week. temperatures in the 50s across the board. it will not drop a lot more but it will be a cool start tomorrow morning to go along with the patchy fog and cloud cover. it will not be absent but it will be less of a factor for the morning commute than it was just a few days ago what fog there is will dissipat quickly, already clearing the skies along the coast as we hea towards late morning. plenty of sunshine the rest of the day. w will start off in the upper 40s and low 50s. that is cool for early june but high temperature tomorrow return to exactly normal near the water. 60 on th coast, mid-60s and san francisco, near 70 in oakland i the east bay and a couple degrees above average in the with a mix of upper 70s and low to mid 80s as you go further inland in the east bay. those temperatures are the warmest spots, only reaching mid 80s,
