week over alleged mishandling of classified documents after he left office. footage emerged appearing to show the documents stored at his mar-a-lago estate. over the weekend, trump insisted he's innocent. naomi ruchim has the latest. good morning. >> reporter: anne-marie, good morning. despite the charges, former president donald trump has been out campaigning for another term, calling the case against him political persecution. his supporters are using the charges as a rallying cry. while at least one past ally believes the case could be damaging for the former president. today former president donald trump will travel to florida ahead of his tuesday arraignment at a miami federal court. >> the documents, whole thing is a witch hunt. it's a disgrace. >> reporter: over the weekend, trump continued to defend himself while campaigning in georgia and north carolina after the department of justice unsealed the 37-count indictment against him. the charges which are connected

to his keeping of sensitive materials at his mar-a-lago home include willful retention of national defense information and conspiracy to obstruct justice. >> we did absolutely nothing wrong. >> reporter: the indictment has divided prominent republicans. >> this idea of presenting trump as a victim here, a victim of a witch hunt, is ridiculous. >> most republicans believe that the law is used as a weapon against donald trump. >> reporter: in fact, a new cbs news poll shows 76% of likely gop voters said their biggest concern was that the indictment was politically motivated. >> something is out of whack. he's not the only one, president, that has documents. >> reporter: top senate democrat chuck schumer says the legal process must go forward without interference. >> we encourage mr. trump's supporters and his critics to let this case proceed peacefully. >> reporter: trump says he plans to speak from his bedminster, new jersey, golf club tuesday

evening after his arraignment. protests are expected in miami around the time of the hearing, and that new cbs news poll of likely gop voters found that 61% said they would vote for trump if the election were held today. anne-marie? >> wow. naomi ruchim in new york. thank you. well, this morning we are -- people are being warned, rather, to avoid a busy stretch of i-95. part of the highway collapsed in northeast philadelphia early sunday morning. it happened after a tanker truck caught fire under an overpass. you can see the soot on the side of the southbound overpass that remains. the road is shut down in both directions between exits 25 and 32. people are the road at the time had no idea what was going on. >> my initial reaction was, oh, this is a brush fire. that's when i grabbed my phone and videoed it and noticed when i drove through it, i hit a bump, felt like a bump. a bump i'm hitting is the

southbound side of 95 that has now buckled. felt like going off a curb, too. that's how low the highway was when i went over. >> there was no immediate reports of any injuries. the incident is under investigation, though. and a complete rebuild is expected to take months. police are on the hunt now for a person of interest in a mass shooting in san francisco. authorities are searching for javier campos who is believed to be a member of a street game. -- street gang. nine people were wounded in the shooting friday night at a block party in the city's mission district. officials say the victims appear to be targeted. >> this is definitely heartbreaking and challenging not just for the mission community but for our city as a whole. >> i feel like nothing is getting better, nothing is being done. they really need to enforce something to be done because it's not getting better. it's not. >> police say the victims were men ranging from 22 to 35 years old, and one 19-year-old woman.

and there was another mass shooting, this one in houston. at least six people were hurt. it happened early sunday outside of a club. police say someone fired into a crowded parking lot. one of the victims was critically injured and had to undergo surgery. investigators are examining security video. no suspects are in custody, and a motive is unclear. the state department is confirming that an american citizen is under arrest in russia. musician and former u.s. military paratrooper michael travis leake appeared in a moscow court saturday inside a metal cage. the 51-year-old who was living in russia was taken into custody on suspicion of drug trafficking. he's accused of running a drug dealing business involving young people. the court ordered that leake be held for two months in pretrial detention. he could face up to 20 years in prison. ukraine says it's gaining ground in its much-anticipated counteroffensive. officials claim they've

liberated three villages in the southeast part of the country. footage shows troops raising a ukrainian flag in a bombed out building in the donetsk region. russia is also claiming victory. the kremlin says its troops sunk a number of ukrainian boats and thwarted a major attack in the black sea. new drone footage gives us a fresh view of the catastrophic flooding after a dam burst last week in kherson. desperate civilians remain stuck on rooftops or in attics amid the humanitarian crisis. debora patta has more. >> reporter: from putting out fires from an overnight drone sn flooctims inrson under fire, rescue workers are risking their lives to save those fleeing the flood-stricken areah not let up even as people try to reach dry land. ukraine's chief rabbi moshe reuvne azman was helping emergency crews bring people to

safety when more shelling landed nearby. this ukrainian family escaped in their own boat from a russian-occupied town where they say the devastation caused by the dam collapse is even worse. there were a lot of dead bodies, said victoria. i saw them lying facedown in the water. it was very hard to look at because i know them. elsewhere in the country, ukraine says its military has stepped up the offensive while the kremlin claimed it had repelled attacks in the east and south of the country. some of the fiercest battles are taking place on the outskirts of bakhmut where kyiv says it is making steady gains even though the city was only recently seized by russian forces. operations have been shrouded in

"the new york times" reports the man known as the unabomber died by suicide at a federal prison medical center in north carolina according to people familiar with the situation. authorities say 81-year-old ted kaczynski, who was suffering from late-stage cancer, was found unresponsive in his cell early saturday. he was serving a life sentence for killing three people and injuring 23 others when he sent homemade bombs through the mail from 1978 to 1995. the "associated press" says a prisoner paralyzed in a police van reached a $45 million settlement with the city of new haven, connecticut. randy cox was being transported handcuffed and without a seatbelt in the back of a police van last year following his arrest on charges of threatening a woman with a gun. those charges were later dismissed. he was left paralyzed when the

van braked hard, sending him headfirst into a metal partition. afterwards, the police -- at the police station video showed officers mocking cox and accusing him of being drunk and faking his injuries. residents were shocked when they heard about the incident. >> that completely blows my mind. that completely blows my mind. i don't have comments about that because no words come to mind. no words. >> five officers faced criminal charges in the case. they have all pleaded not guilty and two of the officers were fired last week. and "the washington post" says the biden administration official disclosed that china has an eavesdropping station in cuba. the anonymous official says beijing seeks to expand its intelligence gathering around the world. the official says the cuban spy station dates back to at least 2019 citing newly declassified intelligence. a chinese official said that he was not aware of china setting
