not see it all. cal fire crews were out in the heat today demonstrating how dangerous fireworks could be if you're not careful. the arson and bomb unit handled the highest volume of seized illegal explosives in the state, and the only safe way to get rid of them is to carefully blow them up. they deal with everything from small to the big stuff and homemade explosives like cherry bombs and fire crackers. >> these are probably the most dangerous items we deal with. they may look like a consumer brand firework, but they're not regulated. there's no telling how much explosive force it has, how well it was built, whether there's other items in it. they're completely unknown. every year around this time, tens of thousands of pounds of illegal fireworks are seized across california. and nearly 20 tons of them just turned up in san jose

police kept going. they connected two suspects to the fireworks, and then searched their homes. >> over 13-ounces of meth, over 200-grams of cocaine, approximately $4,800 in cash, as well as one semiautomatic firearm. >> reporter: police say the investigation is ongoing. there could be more arrests and more charges. but they also add the total of fireworks seized, 38,000-pounds, may well be enough to put a lid on some of the fireworks related problems coming up over the weekend and the holiday. and san francisco firework warnings up at ocean beach, a popular fourth of july gathering spot. despite the cool temperatures and proximity to the water, shooting off fireworks out on the beach is still illegal. it's unclear what sparked this grass fire in sonoma county this afternoon, but it didn't take long for it
