anne-marie green. we begin with what could be a difficult trip for some of the millions of people traveling home from the july 4th holiday weekend after tens of thousands of flight cancellations and delays in the past week. more could be in store with the possibility of severe weather in parts of the country. naomi ruchim is in new york with the latest. naomi, good morning. >> naomi, good morning. with the holiday following on a tuesday, much of today's traffic will be folks trying to get home before work tomorrow. combine that with bad weather and a record number of bad passengers, and it could be a

rough holiday for travelers. travelers are industrial reeling from flight cancellations this fourth of july. >> i'm really overwhelmed. this is too much. >> severe weather and staffing shortages caused flight delays and cancellations over the last ten days. today more storms are expected to move through the northeast and plains which could cause even more disruptions. >> i'm hoping i'm traveling at the right time and going back i'm traveling at the right time as well. united has dished out thousands of flight cancellation miles. it comes as aaa predicts more than 4 million americans will take to the fourth of july skies this holiday. more than 43 million will hit the holidays. >> slow down and allow extra time to get to wherever you're going to. >> one added perk at the pump,

searching for the suspects who opened fire in an annual neighborhood block party. two were killed and 28 injured sunday morning, more than half of them teenagers. surveillance video showing people running through the streets after shots rang out. police believe multiple shooters were involved and three guns were used. a video appears to show a young man pulling a gun out of a backpack. >> we won't stop until we find those responsible and hold them accountable. we won't. >> it's unclear if the shooting was targeted or random. there's new information on a person who targeted three businesses with explosive devices in washington, dc. the suspect detonated or threw the skplois explosive devices early sunday morning. no one was hurt, but there was damage at each location. police released the suspect's

there was no grand prize winner in last night's ever growing powerball lottery drawing. wednesday's jackpot is expected to reach $546 million. that will mean $282 million if there is a winner who chooses the cash option. there has been no big winner of the jackpot since mid-april. in the money report, stocks were up. the dow was up 10. the nasdaq closed 28 points higher, and the s&p 500 was up 5 points. treasury secretary janet yellen will travel to beijing thursday as part of a continuing effort to help ease china relations. a treasury official told the "associated press" that yellen is expected to meet with chinese

fort worth, texas, celebrated the fourth of july by breaking a guinness world record for the largest drone show ever in the u.s. last night. 1,002 drones lit up the sky. organizers called it a history of the united states in the sky. now to a frightening scene at a festival in wisconsin. eight people, seven of them children, were stuck upsidedown for three hours on the fireball ride after it stopped working on sunday. everyone was eventually rescued and brought to safety. a firefighter said the ride was just inspected. it's the second roller-coster mishap this summer. the fourth of juul celebration is here and for kids, fireworks can mean waving
