100,000 fans are expected between the two shows. the gate didn't open until 4:30, but thousands of people had been outside for hours by then makin and trading friendship bracelet and showing off their looks. th shows are having impacts far beyond the stadium. it's a game changer for businesses in the middle of a cruel summer for tech lay offs. betty yu reports they're just as excited as the fans. >> reporter: santana row is jus one of the shopping and dining destinations here in the south bay feeling the effects of taylor swift coming to town. we met some fans that came a long way to see the pop superstar. how did you guys prep for this? >> made a lot of bracelets and got cute outfits. >> we made 78. >> reporter: and you're wearing them all tomorrow? >> yes. >> reporter: jennifer, her

formerly known as twitter. the large letter is the latest move in elon musk's week long rebranding effort. it's only been up for a few hours. the city building inspector has already painted a target for it city officials say you need a permit to replace symbols or letters on buildings, and you need to tape off the sidewalk below for safety. on monday, police interrupted workers taking down the building's iconic bird logo for the same reasons. we have some sad news out o contra costa county tonight where a person and a dog were killed after a duplex went up i flames. it happened in a neighborhood off dover avenue i san pablo. fire crews had trouble reaching the fire at first because power lines were down and flames were shooting out of the house. no word yet o how the fire started. tonight, some powerful community leaders want the city of location to declare a state

of emergency over its seemingly uncontrollable crime problem. i the meantime, da lin reports a 73-year-old who was beat to the ground for her purse is trying to be a part of the solution. >> reporter: a recent attack changed how 73-year-old barbara goes about her daily life. >> i can't carry a purse anymore. i'm not going to ever carry a purse. >> reporter: two months ago, sh and her friend were robbed at a busy intersection. >> i grabbed my friend's long hair and pulled her across the sidewalk, um, and, um, the othe one beat me on my head, grabbed my purse, dropped me to my knees. >> reporter: she and others packed a community meeting on thursday night demanding the district attorney hold criminal accountable. she says the teens that attacked her were arrested and released due to her age. >> there must be consequences. >> yes, yes! >> it's unreal that there are n consequences for these children >> reporter: the oakland branch of the ncaa and bishop bob

jackson, pastor of oakland's biggest church sent out a lette demanding accountability and more police patrols. >> to declare the city of oakland a state of emergency, number one because of public safety. >> reporter: they say a declaration would allow them to get help from the chp, alameda county sheriff's office, housin authority police, and federal police officers. >> just out of control. i've never seen oakland like it is right now. >> it's traumatic. it's terrifying for too many neighbors, and a part of what we're doing in this day of action is delivering on the dee rooted issues we know have led to people being desperate and acting out in ways dangerous fo them and especially for the community. >> reporter: volunteers set up in east oakland on friday to provide food and other resource to at risk individuals. east oakland councilwoman reed helpe organize the event. she says sh too has urged the mayor to declare a state of emergency. >> i've had this conversation with the mayor, and i'm looking forward to seeing action.

so this guy cuffed on san francisco streets apparently tried to make a break from police, but he didn't get too

far and hit a wall literally. yeah, so that happened. the person that posted the video told us this short lived chase happened in the excelsior neighborhood wednesday night. the man in handcuffs ran into the road trying to get away fro officers, but you see there he ended up veering into a store front and falling down. we reached out to police about wha happened, but we have not heard back. all right, in los angeles, different kind of chase. it ended in waterworks. police say they were chasing a stolen car when it smashed into a hydrant, sheering it off. water started gushing out of the windows, and then the suspect took off running. no word on whether police caught up with him. and it is scorching hot in arizona, and pools are in high demand. but this really isn't the backyard dip that one phoenix homeowner had in mind.

the family was getting ready this morning when they heard what sounded like an explosion in their newly renovated backyard. a tesla was submerged in their pool, yep. and the driver apparently crashed right through their brick wall but wa able to get out of the wreck okay. the pool and wall not so okay. and on the topic of pools, here's what police found in one at a home in burbank. a bear just hanging out taking a dip i the jacuzzi. hard to ignore the stunning view. he's just hangin out. he got out, scaled a wall, and climbed a tree. it turns out the big crack that shut down a popular roller coaster in north carolina wasn' the only part that was broken. the amusement park replaced the steel support column that broke last month, but test runs just turned up another smaller break

so the park is now doing a full maintenance review of the ride which has no reopening date. and if you didn't win the megamillions tonight, don't worry, no one did. that means the jackpot just crossed the billion dollar mark. it will be 1.05 billion to be exact when they draw the numbers on tuesday. that's tied for the fourth biggest megamillions jackpot ever. >> oh, i was stunned. i [ bleep got it. this is amazing. this is viral video taken off the coast of massachusetts. have you ever seen something like this? it's being called a once in a lifetime shot. over the weekend a officialerman caught three humpback whales breaching at th same time and a calf followed their lead. >> i've seen thousands of whales. never ever have a seen triple breach. i felt like god was smiling down. what a show they put on for us. i feel very

80s for several days, and then just a little hotter for the first weekend in august. but extreme heat looks like it will continue to avoid us for awhile right now temperatures in the 50s and 60s across the board. down to 56 in san francisco for the cool spot. still holding onto 65 in concord. the fog is beginning to make its move over downtown. it's going to push across the bay into some of the inland, but it won't last long. it takes longer around the bay, and along the coast, i wouldn't anticipate much sunshine at all just tomorrow. but throughout the weekend into most of next week. temperatures dropping int the 50s. 50s in most locations think to start the day on saturday. then we warm up. everybody's temperatures within a few degrees of average. 60 along the coast. 60s and 70s around the bay. 70s on the peninsula, and mostly 80s inland. the hottest spots in th delta only getting up into the

low 90s. in late july, if we're below 100 in those areas, we're doing just fine. the forecast for the second game of the giants series against the bosto red sox as they hope to improve on tonight's result, not to steal andrea's thunder, game in the 60s and steadily dropping. pleasant afternoon overall. and if you're headed out to the second taylor swift concert, temperatures in the upper 60s b the time she takes the stage. should be comfortable saturday evening. enjoy the crowds. temperatures are going to dip t below normal basically for the first four days of august. tuesday, wednesday, thursday an friday. mid-60s in san francisco. upper 60s and low 70 for oakland and the east bay. the north bay hovering in the lower half of the 80s most of next week, and only 70s in san jose for the first four days of august. we'll take that as long as it wants to stick around. bu it looks like just beyond the scope of the seven-day forecast we'll be in for a warm up, except along the coast where yo

lead. luciano with a hard shot off the third baseman for his first major league hit. he late scores the giants' first run. and luciano's family flew in fo the special occasion. and taylo rogers coming in in the eighth. the first pitch he throws is a single to left to give boston the 2-1 lead. the red sox win 3-2, and the giants have lost seven of their last nine. the a's in the mile high city visiting the rockies. oakland jumps out to a 7-1 lead top of the ninth it's 7-5. the a's get a little more breathing room, and oakland wins 8-5. switching over to the nfl, year ago trey lance was set to become the 49ers qb1. now he's competing to back up brock
