that resulted into a dangerous combination and a global patter when you look at the entire pacific ocean and hurricane dor is a part of that pattern. it i a tiny bit of white to the southwest of the island chains. let's bring the globe closer to the screen here. dora and the high string of high pressure, those features near conflict with each other. the air rushin out of it. the area of high pressure rushing over the hawaiian islands and picture putting your thumb over the spiket of a garden hose. it is fluid, air is a fluid. sending lot of air through a compact space going faster and faster. the wind speeds part of the problem. the wind direction als a big part of the problem because those easterly winds in are that particular part of mau are downslope winds. that is something that we have to worry about with our fire threat here in the bay area because the win that travels up in a geographic feature a hill or a mountain

range. the volcanic mountains o maui the moisture gets squeezed out of the win ward side. the air rushing down from the other side not as much moisture. as i descends it is dry and heats up more quickly as it was rising. the air was going fast, dry, it is hot and that just expanded a dangerous situation on maui and we saw that over the last 24 to 48 hours as dora moves over, th squeeze in the atmosphere will relax a little bit. but still, the damage has been done. we will talk about the bay area's weather heading closer to the weekend coming up in just a few minutes >> all right, paul, thank you very much, appreciate it. i don't want to step on to your mountain but here we go. a hate crime investigation after what the police say they left behind this bay area bar. if you hope to get a ticket prepare for sticker shock.
