firefighters on the entire island of maui. san francisco was able to dispatch 100 firefighters to a single apartment fire involving other buildings earlier this week. tonight a recycling plant near the port of oakland is facing a pair of air quality violation notices after a scrap metal fire shrouded much of the east bay in a thick blanket of smoke. oakland firefighters spent more than 24 hours battling the fire. they claime that it allowed hazardous waste to pollute nearby areas. when napa county enacted sweeping winery regulations in 1990 they said that small existing wineries could keep doing what they are doing
