what authorities know about how it started. trump to surrender. the former president is expected to turn himself in to georgia authorities today for alleged election interference. we look ahead at the historic moment. and the race is on. the first republican presidential debate ended just hours ago with eight people on stage and one notable absence. how the candidates tried to set themselves apart. well, good morning, and good to be with you. i'm anne-marie green. we begin with former president donald trump who says he will surrender to georgia authorities today to face charges in the state's 2020 election interference case. this will be trump's fourth arrest since april. cristian benevides starts us off in atlanta. good morning. >> reporter: good morning, anne-marie. we're anticipating that that will take place either in the late afternoon or early evening. now this entire area surrounding the fulton county jail will be locked down by the time mr.

trump arrives. former president donald trump sat down with former fox news host tucker carlson less than 24 hours before his planned surrender to authorities in atlanta. >> i got indicted four times, all trivia -- nonsense. >> reporter: trump is one of 19 people indicted on charges over alleged efforts to overturn georgia's 2020 election results. >> they're saying if you challenge an election, we're going to indict you and put you in jail. >> reporter: the 45-minute interview aired on x, formerly known as twitter, at the same time as the first republican presidential primary debate in wisconsin. on stage in milwaukee, the gop field was split over the former president's indictments. >> the conduct is beneath the office of president of the united states. trump's surrender later today. already about half of the 19 people facing charges have already turned themselves in. yesterday former trump lawyer sidney powell and rudy giuliani were among those who surrendered to fulton county authorities. giuliani was released on $150,000 bond. >> this indictment is a travesty. >> reporter: today the former president is expected to get a mugshot. after he's booked, he will be released on a $200,000 bond. now all 19 co-defendants have until tomorrow, friday, at noon to turn themselves in. that includes former chief of staff mark meadows and former justice department official jeffrey clark. both of whom have attempted to move this case to federal court. anne-marie? >> cristian benevides in atlanta. thank you very much. as you just heard, former president donald trump's main rivals for the republican presidential nomination squared off last night for the first gop primary debate.

while trump chose not to take part, he still loomed large. nearly all those on stage, nearly all, said they would support him if he's the party's nominee even if he's convicted of a crime. skyler henry has more on the debate. >> reporter: eight republican candidates aiming to replace president joe biden took the debate stage in milwaukee wednesday evening. florida governor ron desantis is number two in the polls and widely seen as former president donald trump's main gop rival. >> we need to send joe biden back to his basement and reverse american decline. poll leading by 70 points and saying why am i doing it? >> reporter: skyler henry, cbs news, the white house. breaking overnight, at least three people were killed and six are hospitalized after authorities say a man opened fire at a biker bar in orange county, california. sources tell cbs los angeles that the shooting started as a domestic dispute between the suspect and retired law enforcement officer and his wife. authorities say that they are working to confirm that information. the incident then escalated, and multiple people were shot. two are in critical condition. the suspect was killed by responding deputies. and philadelphia's police commissioner says an officer who shot and killed a man during a traffic stop will be fired. it comes as new video that's emerged appears to contradict the police department's original account of what happened. jeff pegues has details, and we have a warning, the video is graphic. >> reporter: surveillance video captured on two ring cameras

shows 27-year-old eddi irizarry pulling over after driving the wrong way during a one-way -- down a one-way street. moments later, two officers pull up alongside him and jump out of the police cruiser with their guns drawn. >> show me your hands! [ bleep ] [ bleep ] >> reporter: five seconds later, officer mark dial fires six times into the vehicle. eddi irizarry later died at the hospital. and today the police commissioner said that she intends to terminate officer dial, a five-year veteran, for failing to cooperate with the investigation. there have been false statements about what happened. originally police said irizarry lunged at the officers with a knife and they gave him multiple commands to drop the weapon while he was outside the vehicle. how do you assure the people of philadelphia that officers are telling the truth? >> unfortunately the information that was released has pretty

"the idaho statesman" reports the man accused of murdering four university of idaho students waived his right to a speedy trial. bryan kohberger's trial was set, but an attorney asked for a delay saying more time is needed to prepare.

a judge agreed to an indefinite delay. kohberger is accused of stabbing the four students to death in an off-campus house last november. earlier this year a judge entered a not guilty plea on his behalf. the "associated press" says a new mexico judge cleared the way for a civil lawsuit to proceed against alec baldwin and the other producers of the movie "rust." a gun baldwin was holding fired during a rehearsal in 2021 killing cinematographer halyna hutchins. three crew members filed a lawsuit alleging cost cutting on the set endangered the cast and crew. they also contend that baldwin skipped his own safety training. and espn says former usc running back reggie bush filed a defamation lawsuit against the ncaa. bush was stripped of his college records in 2010 and gave up his heisman trophy after an ncaa investigation said he accepted improper gifts and cash from a would-be sports agent. in a 2021 statement, the college sports governing body called bush's playing career at usc a,
