winds but it will strengthen further as it makes its way towards the coast, making landfall just after sunrise on the east coast. that is around 8:00 tomorrow morning as a category four hurricane with 130-mile-per-hour sustained winds. everything flows counterclockwise around the storms, meaning that on the right side of the path it just grabs the top layer of the gulf of mexico and sends it on. that is what storm surge is. the fas forward movement of the storm means that as it moves inland and weakens it will still be hanging onto hurricane strength by the time it makes its way to the border between georgia and south carolina. still has 80-mile-per-hour sustained wind by tomorrow evening before weakening to a tropical storm but still with the threat of flooding and reins. let's talk about the storm surge that is going to be mainly in the big bend area of florida. all these red shaded areas have the potential for a over 12 foot storm surge and 15 to 16 feet i within the realm of possibility along the coast to the right of that center of circulation wher the winds are pushing the whole

happened for students and parents in oakland. the fbi spent much of the day on campus to investigate a bomb threat that was emailed to the school. police said the message had racial undertones. parents said the whole thing stemmed from an annual play date help for students of color. somehow the flyer ended up on reddit and that is when the threats began. >> to pull up and have my son rushed back to the car as if he was a target, it just made everything more magnified. i am at the point where i feel like everyone needs to know what is happening. >> some posts online expressed outrage that white kids were being excluded. for context, about 45% of the students at th school are white. the goal of the play date, the school said, was to create a space where aapi, black and brown families could create a sense of

that the area could see power shutoffs because of high winds. if it happens it would be the first time this year. you know, paul, we have been talking a lo about the delayed start to the fire season. we are starting to see a little bit of concern here. >> this is the first instance o offshore winds we have seen thi summer which is good. it is lat august and we have not had a problem with this just yet. it is better to be on the safe side. you don't want to be the spark that gets something going because the fire would spread i a hurry. let's get to the details of the warning. goes until 8:00 for eastern solano county and much of napa county. the wind gusts will be out of the north, potentially up to 40 miles per hour. they go downhil and accelerate and the humidity levels will be below 20%, in some cases below 10%. this is a environment that is ripe for a spark to grow before fire crews get a handle on it. we will see conditions improving later this week as temperatures drop off.
11:18 pm
the northerly winds will bring another wave of smoke from northern california and quite a bit more extensive than the smoke we have seen elevated in the atmosphere. this is at ground level tomorrow and will deteriorate air quality as we head through the entire day. some signs that maybe it thins out a little bit on thursday, but i would count on readings i the unhealthy for sensitive groups category with air qualit both tomorrow and thursday, especially for the inland valleys. better air quality conditions by friday and saturday as a different air mas moves in. it will be a radical change by the end of this week as temperatures drop off a cliff. concord from the upper 90s to the low 90s but then a 1 degree drop. upper 70s in friday. temperatures gradually return to near average by labo day and next week but as the cooler air settles in the storm system bringing it towards us

also has enough energy and access to barely enough moistur to give us the outside chance o light rain shower in the bay area. if it happens it will be very brief, very light and ther will be more misses than hits. there is just a meager chance, but still a chance in early september which is not usually the case for the bay area. looking out from the mark hopkins hotel, temperatures ar still mainly in the 60s. still holding onto the 70s in santa rosa where you got into the 90s today. those temperatures will settle down into the 60s pretty much across the board by early tomorrow morning with cooler locations dropping into the mid-50s before we warm-up. it i also going to be pretty hot inland with temperatures in the 90s and the hottest spots getting up to 100 degrees. around the bay it will be warm. upper 60s along the coast. you get to stay in the air

conditioning. if you are headin out to levi's stadium for the renaissance tour, beyonc÷ takes the stage at 8:00. the gates open at 6:00. at that time the temperatures will drop into the 70s by the time the concert starts and then back into the 60s in the evening. temperature return to below average by friday before we returned to those near average readings by monday of next week. labor day looks like it will be really nice. more clouds friday and saturday with the cooler air rolling in and the outside chance of a shower or two frida night into saturday but that should help to improve the air quality. it should also help to scrub the air a bit. the hottes day further down the line? back up to 90 degrees for the hottes parts of the bay area next tuesday. we can handle that after the 100 degree high temperatures, but really it is that air quality and the potential for offshore winds leading to offshore wind conditions that have us concerned for tomorrow. >> prepare for the worst, hope
11:21 pm
