cold case. new dna evidence implicates a man in the 1987 murder of jeremy stoner of alejo . fred kane is being brought back to face charges of murder, sodomy and sexual acts with a child. ashley sharp reports he was actually a suspect from the start until police zeroed in on the wrong man. >> reporter: fred kane, cuffed and arrested. 36 years after he is accused of killing jeremy stoner. investigators said tuesday, they reopened the case last year , tested dna from the autopsy and began the search for answers. >> who could the dna belong to? >> it led them to fred kane. the news was overwhelming for his niece. >> shock about what was going on but not surprised he is involved.

the shimmering light happens all the time from the way the sun interacts with the atmosphere. the best time to see it is usually around ring or fall equinox which was last week. let's catch paul with the latest forecast? >> not something we typically see. it would have to be an exceptional for the lights to be visible to the south. what we are in store for the short version, more typical autumn weather. that is where we go today after the clouds clear. the return means more solar energy being created across the bay area. it was decreased today because of those clouds. we will be back to that level as we go through tomorrow and again on thursday. if you are looking forward to the return of rain, you may not have to wait too long. the outlook does show a trend toward wetter

than normal conditions. that would coincide with cooler than average temperatures. in the short-term, we have a trend. right now, temperatures are backing down as we made it up to near what was normal. these represent a mix of 50s and 60s. 63 in san jose. from the high elevations, lust, standard 55 already. 60 in morgan hill. 50s in livermore while antioch and concord holding on into the mid-60s. temperatures around the bay, a 60. exactly 60 in san francisco. the northbay cooling off at a greater rate . 61 in napa but upper 50s in novato and down to the mid-50s already in petaluma and santa rosa were temperatures are more likely to dip to the low 50s.

let's look at the low temperature forecast map, we will start off close to what is normal. that means 50s across the board. we started in the 60s because of the clouds. tomorrow morning back to typically cool temperatures. later, if you are headed out to the giants game, trying to keep hopes alive. gametime temperature should be in the mid-60s and gradually cooling down. we will try to keep hope alive for at least a couple more games. let's look at the forecast. starting with the northbay where temperatures will be close to what is typical. everybody on either side of 80. pleasantly warm and pleasantly mild. near 70 in san francisco with mid-70s in oakland. temperatures could

be warmer down the peninsula in redwood city and cooler along the coast. 67 at half moon bay isn't bad at all. plenty of sunshine breaking through. in the valley, temperatures will be warm. mostly low 80s. temperatures inland, mostly low 80s. in the tri-valley some of the warm spots. mid-80s around antioch and bread would. we will see a change in temperatures late this week. let's look at the seven day. the inland part of the bay area, after that high temperature range in the lower half of the 80s with more of the same on thursday. even the warmest spots by friday and saturday will only be in the 70s and then a gradual return to near-normal in the first few days of october. it is a similar trend around the bay. not as much volatility thanks to the moderating influence. those temperatures barely struggling up to 70 by friday
