is ahead. blue angels arrived late this morning landing at oakland's airport. some arrivin last night. the elite navy flying crew will perform over the san francisco bay friday, saturday, sunday the blue angel one of the biggest draws, while government shutdown was looming there were questions if the angels would be able to show up crisis averted. they are funded and ready to fly. the merth assailed under the golden gate bridge yesterday. one of the many vessels docked. free ship tours for the public and today we heard from some of the sailors that call the bay area home and excited to mix it up i san francisco. >> i want to meet up with my family and friends who are stil in the area. that is my main goal at the same time i want to meet the people out in town, ge to know them. >> i am looking forward to experiencing fleet week as a sailor this time, i have been t them many times growing up and am excited to see my family.

>> welcome home to them. >> our own meteorologist will b flying with the blue angels on wednesday. this is something they have local reporters and anchors but jess a real life pilot herself it will be interesting to get her perspective. would you fly with the angels? >> absolutely. it is on my bucket list. i always wanted to do it. i have a feeling, i am not a pro. she can fly the planes tomorrow herself and be fine. but, i always wanted to d it. although, i have a feeling because i get a little sick on boats and . >> that is what i am saying, almost everyone i have known done it ends up in that situation. >> yes. it is a no for me. that would ruin the whole thing. >> i think they do it on purpose. part of it they want t see, they want to see how long you can last >> right. >> right. >> and it is like the ultimate roller coaster and i love a roller coaster.

laphonza butler who was an assistant to kamala harris. >> lbgtq, women and girl's related to voting rights. on th front end of all of three thing >> we look into butler's extensive resume.. >> laphonza butler. president o an organization called emily's list that is devoted to electin democratic women who is pro-choice women's rights and newsom did not put any restrictions on joining for the senate seat in california. butler has a deep background working for unions with the announcement newsom delivered o his prom toys give the job to a black woman. she will be the onblack woman in the senate and first openly gay one. newsom shared she has always stood up

for what is right and he is confident she will be able to carry the baton left by feinstein to break grass ceilings and fight for all californians. earlier today we spoke to the executive director for center of lesbian rights and what it means to have butler stepping in. >> she is smart, she is good at what she does. at a time when black people, lgbtq people and women living at the intersections are under attack it is going to be important to have someone like her legislating. someone with her profile sends incredibly important mess snog we don't know if butler will run for her full term next november. three other prominent democrats in th race are bay area congresswoman barbara lee, adam shiff and porter. republicans will fill the senate candidate as well. >> butler is expected to be sworn into the u.s. senate by wednesday. earlier today the white house press secretary

spoke about the appointment. >> laphonza butler spent her career of fighting for the rights of women and working people. just looking at by certainly her career. she is herself a succeeding, a trail blazer by breaking more barriers. >> today butler tweeted in part no one will ever measure up to the legacy of senator feinstein i will do my best to honor her legacy and leadership by committing to work for women an girls, workers and unions, struggling parents and all of california. i am ready to serve now, to the plans to honor senator feinstein who left a major impact on the city of san francisco. our state and well beyond. this wednesday senator feinstein's body will lie in state at san francisco city hall. the public will be able t pay their respects and visit between 9:00 a.m. and 7:00 p.m. her funeral is scheduled for thursday. it will not be open t

. student loan payments are due for 46 million americans after a three year pandemic pause. the average borrower owe $70,000. that is $300 a month. more than half are expected to be late. >> they were using the money fo food and transportation and housing. so, now, they have to squish it back into their budget. >> now, some may be able to get lower monthly payments during the biden administration plan based on a borrowers income.

tower looking out over the bay bridge and the east bay. let's talk about monday afternoon. currently, at the time of the day, hitting the day time high any way. middle 70s for san jose. 76 in livermore. working our way back up to our part of the bay now. back up towards sa francisco. you can see what it looks like for san francisco. i the 60s. to finish the tour. a nice afternoon. bay area wide. temperatures to the north bay right now managed to climb well into the middle and upper 70s. you can see santa rosa out ther on the far edge. so, let's take a look at the forecast in terms of what to expect. the pattern will get interesting for us ove the next few days. a noticeable warm up. if we go to the pacifi and look at the big picture you

will see an exagerated storm track. watch what happens in th forecast. any storm that would like to come to california will not do it now, getting rerouted up and over the huge ridge of high pressure. what we care about is how it will drive the winds. we know we will not get rain for awhile here. how does it steer the winds? if you visuallize the center of it, up and over. playing it forward from today. into wednesday. it shifts a little bit that is important, now, look at what th winds are doing. more off shore winds. looking at it up close a home, off shore winds coming in across the bay. that does a couple things for us. first of all, lowers humidity. it will dry out the hills a little bit. drier air will allow the temperatures to warm up a bit more in the day. you will have more downsloping wind coming of

of the mountains. it is not a significant fire weather scenario. not ideal in terms of drying out the landscape but no an extreme event. instead what it is, it is a warming event fo us. so, we are going to feel th temperatures really rebound. yo can see where we will go from average to spike by thursday. you are looking at it well abov average by the time we get towards like, especially wednesday, thursday, and friday all right. so, if we take a loo at what it means for day time highs, we will start out in the north bay. numbers in the north bay tomorrow they will be a little warmer than what we just saw today. you will see the temperatures climbing into the middle 80s through the central part of the bay. a similar stor here. numbers climbing higher than they were today and in the south bay you will see the same story down there. staying noticeably warm but it gets warmer from here. let's go to the seven-day forecast. when yo look at the numbers look back here where we start climbing up
