hackney. >> i'm andrea nakano. we begin tonight with a police chase in san francisco ending with an arrest in contra costa county. >> it began in san francisco's north beach. it ended up in martinez. police say the suspect assaulted a victim in north beach and then threw explosive devices at officers. the police department released this picture of what they're describing as an improvised device. >> officers responded to reports of an assault on filbert street around 6:00 tonight, but the suspect took off in a car before they could take him into custody. supervisor aaron peskin, who oversees the north beach neighborhood, tells us that during the chase the suspect allegedly set off a pipe bomb on jones street and lit a molotov cocktail at the intersection of eighth and mission street. this video is from citizen app and this is the scene on jones. the chase continued on to the freeway and on to the east bay where chp officers took over the chase. they eventually took the

suspect into custody in martinez. this is the aftermath. you can see the suspect's car smashed after officers used a p.i.t. maneuver to stop the car. no one was hurt, but authorities think there may be more explosive devices in that car and have called in the bomb squad to check it out. stay up to date with any further developments on this story on our website, kpix.com, and streaming on cbs news bay area. in oakland tonight the rvs just won't go away. a number of them had been parked near the high street home depot on alameda avenue. workers put in concrete blocks to stop them from parking there. so the rvs moved to nearby streets. that has a number of residents moving out. da lin has more. >> reporter: there are several dead end streets here with a lot of homes, apartments and businesses. they all use east ninth street to get in and out, but they say with all these rvs

it's very difficult. antoinette millard is moving out after leaving in her apartment for three years. >> i'm out of breath. >> reporter: her apartment, on the corner of east ninth street and 34th avenue, is located right next to some of the rvs. she says she can't deal with it anymore, too much noise and trash. >> they stay up all through the night. don't know what they're doing in their trailer, but it bothers me. >> reporter: she's not alone. her neighbor just gave a move-out notice to their landlord, francis wong. >> antoinette told me when she was giving me 30 days notice, i said i'll lower your rent and she still say huh-uh no, can do. my tenants gave me 30 day notice one after another. >> reporter: neighbors say it started with a few rv dwellers parked on east ninth street two years ago. it grew in recent months. when the city cleared

out all the rvs in early october on alameda avenue near home depot, a lot of these people moved over here. >> we have one-third more rv people. >> reporter: the two-way street is it now much more narrow. >> everybody have problem passing by each other. so my car got hit. >> reporter: neighbors and business owners also noticed more chopped vehicles and drug dealing on the street. >> new clients of mine won't even stop. they won't even park. i've had people say i'm not parking in front of your building. it's crazy. i'm afraid and angry. >> reporter: one neighbor says a homeless man dropped his pants in front of his mother-in-law. he worries about sex offenders and his family's safety. >> we're actually being held hostage by this encampment. we're on the very front lines. >> reporter: a homeless man blames a few bad actors for causing problems for the rv dwellers and the neighbors. >> these homeless people here, these guys right here, don't bother nobody. they probably work the rest of their life and lost their jobs. >> reporter: as for

antoinette, she's glad she's out. the city posted these flyers saying they're going to clean up the trash along east ninth street in more than a week. the problem is neighbors want these rvs to move. israel continues to expand its battle against hamas both from the sky and on the ground with military officials saying they struck more than 450 hamas targets over the last 24 hours. meanwhile on the ground in gaza with a need for essentials like food, water, and medicine, thousands of people stormed u.n. supply warehouses as the death toll in the palestinian territory now stands at more than 8,000 people. children in gaza describe what it's like to live in the war zone. >> translator: we were not safe. we are not living like normal people. we would like to go back to our homes. >> translator: we have lost our right to education and lost our

right to play. >> meanwhile the international criminal court is now on the ground at the crossing from gaza into egypt. they're investigating both the initial terror attack in israel and war crimes in palestinian territories. the icc is an independent organization based in the netherlands. in the bay area rallies continue for a ceasefire and for more humanitarian aid. hundreds of people showed up in san jose with signs and flags and most say they just want the violence to end. >> the bombs are not differentiating between civilians and noncivilians. whatever israeli claims, the bombs are not separating them. they bomb everywhere and we don't know. we have a headcount, but we don't know how many people are under the rubble. >> supporters of israel showed up at san francisco's yerba buena gardens. many say they feel alone in their struggle, reminding everyone more than 200 kidnapped men, women, and children are being held hostage

hundreds of people turned out today at ocean beach for the great hauntway. it's kind of a play on the great highway. get it? okay. the video was taken by supervisor joel engarrio. trick-or-treaters were out and about, more than a little bit early for halloween, but it was pretty good weather for it. with halloween around the corner, you'd think it would be a busy time for local part and costume shops. >> betty yu caught up with a costume shop owner who thought things were dead, but a mention on tiktok brought his store back to life. >> reporter: this halloween barbie is one of the most popular costumes. still a bay area party store was struggling to move costumes off the shelves. that's until the owner's daughter made a tiktok that went viral.

halloween sales this october were looking downright scary for diddum's party and toy store with three locations on the peninsula. steve diddums has been running them for 34 years. >> we were scared to death. we had to buy this stuff a year in advance and so you buy it and then you got to sell it all in like a week and a half. >> reporter: steve started to worry. >> hi, if you are from anywhere near the bay area, california, please stop scrolling. this is my dad, this one. he's a really good man and i've watched him work my whole life tirelessly for me and my mom and my three brothers to provide for us. >> reporter: his daughter in new york made this tiktok to try and help without telling him. >> literally any need for halloween, give my dad a fighting chance against jeff bezos and visit diddums party and toy. i know our family would so, so appreciate it. >> reporter: it quickly received more than 300,000

being here was really important. >> diwali is traditionally commemorated with family, community gatherings and a vibrant display of colors. speaking of colors, beautiful sunset tonight and a little wrinkle in the forecast toward the end of the week? >> maybe a small chance of rain, but before we get into the details on that, red flag warnings are canceled. we're done with that. one of the side effects of losing the wind is now temperatures get colder in those inland valleys because less wind, cold air settles into the valley. north bay valleys, going down to the mid-30s, really pretty view for treasure island, upper 40s for morning lows here. everybody is noticing this now in terms of the mornings getting colder, but some of us feel it more than others. one last thing on the wind, still windy on the mountains. look at mount saint helena the next few hours, 30-mile-an-hour guests overnight, but not as widespread and strong as last

night, so nowhere near as high of concern from a fire weather perspective. through the next 24 hours, the winds in the mountains die down. if you look at tomorrow morning and visualize where the coldest air is, look at the deeper shades of blue which show up right up there in the north bay valleys. put some numbers on here. everybody gets kind of cold tomorrow, mid-40s, but it's noticeably colder in the north bay. this is where we start seeing mid-30s. it's going to be 35, 36 tomorrow in petaluma, 38 in novato, 39 in sonoma, but daytime highs are fantastic. everybody warms up to the same place. it's not often that you see the same daytime high in san francisco, 74 tomorrow, as livermore and pleasanton, 74, 73 in livermore. so it's that time of year. this is when we do it, in october. we don't really get that big 30-degree microclimate spread. let's look ahead to the chance of rain. here's how the pacific is starting to get reoriented. we

can see the storm track is starting to redevelop. it's going to start coming together in very well put together ways in terms of these storms. if we watch that first one, that takes us ahead to thursday. there's an atmospheric river in that funneling what's going to be a pretty impressive rainmaker for the pacific northwest. look how close it comes to us, looks like we'll just miss out on that one. the second one saturday, let's come in for a closer look. there's the one on thursday. it's getting close. here we are at home. you see the line of showers stays a little too far north for us. then the next one comes in now looking ahead towards saturday late into sunday. that one is a little closer, just kind of skirting again along the northern edge and it looks like on the latest model run it wanted to bring a few showers through here. it's too far out to look at that for sunday and go aha, now we have rain in the forecast. the models have been waffling back and forth on this over the last 24 hours. so it's close. the latest model run wants to be

washington high school in san francisco evelyn monjaras is living her dream as a mechanic. >> cars has always been a big passion for me. >> reporter: washington is the only public high school in the city to offer auto shop. >> absolutely love it. i like getting my hands dirty, getting in the engine bay. >> reporter: but this senior is not just getting her hands on gas-powered engines. >> it's super cool seeing how everything comes apart. >> reporter: evelyn can now take apart an electric motor, in this case a donated tesla engine, and she can put it all back together again. >> evelyn is one of our superstars perform. >> reporter: auto instructor and local 1414 machinist union member rich delroso believes his students are facing a challenging future. there's a shortage of auto mechanics. >> they have this opportunity to get into the starting of this electric vehicle phase that will take over our automotive industries. >> reporter: in response to the impact of climate change,

well, it was a rough one at levi's stadium today. the red and gold faithful are probably feeling a little down after the defeat to the bengals, marking their third straight loss, but there was at least one 9ers fan that had a day he will never forget. >> just watch this. here's matt lively. >> reporter: they say your wedding day is supposed to be one of the happiest in your life. however, for two die hard football fans, one was leaving levi's stadium a little disappointed after one of the most unique ceremonies you'll ever see. >> we've been engaged for a while and i said let's just get married in the parking lot and she's like that's a great idea. >> reporter: jeff, a 49ers fan, and carrie, a bengals fan, figured there was no better venue for a wedding than levi's stadium on sunday morning. >> there's nothing on pinterest
