tim cook were there along with the heads of bowing and fedex. but, before that, all of those parties, there was this. protests and a lot of them. many of them aimed at president xi. this one actually came to blows, demonstrators started hitting each other at one point at a protest on 3rd and market streets. someone even climbed up a pole in the middle of all of the chaos. it was a block away from the hotel where the chinese president has been staying snow the biggest evil dictator xi jinping is here. that is why we are here. we want to tell the world the chinese communist party regime can not be trusted. we must take this evil empire down.. >> protested waited for xi and biden standing on the side of

highway 280 and posting up as close as they can get to the estate where they had the big meeting and while demonstrators hit the streets in many different places, some felt the protests were not as huge and more well behaved than they were expecting. but, the people who did hit the streets had a message. many messages that they wanted to be heard. >> reporter: the streets of san francisco calmed down a bit at this hour. california highway patrol officers lined battery street earlier as president biden made his way from a reception back to his hotel. this after a very eventful day that included a meeting with chinese president xi jinping. >> reporter: lined with protesters, charles of one of those in this crowd. he moved to los angeles in hopes of finding a better life for him and his family. >> so many problems in china, you know.

>> reporter: charles was joined by protesters taking the stand against the chinese communist party. he says the ccp limits basic human rights. >> we did not have any freedom in speech, news, and you know. >> reporter: just across the street a fierce contingent of supporters made sure their message was heard. >> we are here to show our love for china and to support president visit to support all apec. we wish china well and the precedency well and wish the whole chinese people well. >> reporter: protesters were scattered throughout the bay area on wednesday. here the foot of broadway, a call for palestinian rights and a ceasefire in gaza. at each protest there was heavy security. officers from several different law enforcement agencies lining up in riot gear

and trying to keep the protest peaceful. >> reporter: charles says he was not encouraged with the meeting with president biden and president xi jinping on wednesday. he fears china will not be a free country truly until there are concrete changes in politics >> china really needs democracy. and china needs a new party.. >> there was a lot of tension leading up to that four hour meeting between the two presidents in woodside. things seemed to have gone well but after the meeting president biden made this comment that might not make beijing too happy. >> mr. president, after today would you still refer to president xi as a dictator than a term you used earlier. look, he is a dictator, he is a guy that runs a country that is communist country based on a form of government totally

the terrain in the bay area. we are talking about rainfall amounts approaching 1/10th of an inch in san jose and in the hills above san jose. that is generally the range. from a few 1/100th of an inch of rainfall to maybe a couple 10ths. not enough to cause issues, a rain event that moved through quickly. we are not done with the rain chances, these, amounts are very modest. we will see another round of showers heading through the rest of tonight. it will be more mist than hit. a few showers making their way into the mountains as we speak. light activity the showers are sparse as we head into early tomorrow morning, future cast indicates potential for flash and dash showers. not a big problem in the morning commute. more rain developing in the afternoon. not as widespread as what moved through late this afternoon and evening. another round of widespread rain in the forecast late friday into the first half of the weekend. we will take a look at that with a

. oakland police say they learned more about the plan found dead in a suitcase floating in lake merit. not enough. he was a 23-year-old. community cleanup volunteers found his body late last month. investigators are trying to figure out more about the victim in hopes of finding who killed him and why. they are looking for tips on where he may of lived or worked. they are offering a $10,000 reward if those tips happen to lead to an arrest. also in the east bay, a chp

retail bust turned up enough stolen stuff to fill a delivery truck. if they had one they could deliver it all right back to cv s and walgreens, boxes filled with medicine, baby formula, lotion, hair products, $350,000 worth. it all came from stings in oakland and sacramento. back in sacramento the police who are not assigned to apec busted a couple car burglars 20 minutes after they struck inial mow square. in alamo. not much going on at our studios, streets blocked off all day for the president's party and motorcade. the area has been pretty dead all week. suggesting commuters may of gotten the message to take transit this week or not come in at all and just work from home. apec has been defined by

politics, policy protests and now, pride. san francisco has long led the way in allowing people to love who they love. not always true in other parts of the world which is why city leaders came up with gaypec. >> gaypec kicked off in the castro this weekend. it was packed. you can see all of the people here at mo in the castro, organizers told us the goal of this event was to bring together lbgtq apec attendees, they wanted to show them what it is like to be lgbtq here in san francisco. the supervisor's office put on the event to show attendees, especially those from other countries who may not have lgbtq protections what a world with those protections look like >> i want them to think hey, i should do this back home and feel as though i can be myself and i don't have to hide and of

that. >> state senator scott wiener stopped by, so did assembly member lowe. he told us he has been spreading the word all week but several delegates told them even though they wanted to they would not be able to make it. >> during the entire week i had a number of delegates come to me acknowledge to me they were aware of this event celebrating lgbtq and they stated they wish they could be there but in their country this would be criminalized and they would lose their jobs. it is heartbreaking to hear that. a stark reminder about the work that needs to be done. >> still, several from countries around the world did show up. local performer curveball told us it was nice to see such a big crowd. >> a great reminder for us who have the privilege to celebrate our queerness every day we can gather other people that may not do that and show them and bring them in our family and we love you who they are and we

not focus on earlier. we are getting a little more right now. also, over 1/10th of an inch of rain in the tri-valley. go up to valley, heavier amounts. here you are on the short end, san rafael and not much more for the higher elevations, the cut off low, that is the storm system that has been separated from the main storm track it is just stuck in place. it is going to continue to send ripples of energy towards us with more on and off showers, we had a few out there. making their way through the mountains, the showers are more mist than hit. it is possible they will be out there. this version of future cast keeps us dry. the forecast models agree. a descent chance of rain developing during the afternoon and early evening on thursday. it is not going to be as widespread or heavy. but just a little bit to complicate the evening commute and a

longer stretch of dry weather once again. the long-range forecast models agree that we are talking about a better chance of more widespread rain coming at us in waves beginning friday afternoon and then continues friday evening and friday night. little breaks in between. just a wet time frame basically any time from midday on friday all of way through midday on saturday. this is as the heart of the storm system tracks directly over the bay area. gusty winds will be possible as well. then the showers will move off to the east. we will be drying out by saturday evening and saturday night. i mean, drying out. no rain chances at all in the forecast from sunday through the abbreviated rainfall. how much rain? the forecast model might just be stretching things a bit. talking two inches of rain. that is within the range of what is possible as the heart of the storm system tracks over head from friday into early saturday. in general, half an inch to an inch of rain is the expectation for most parts of the bay area. some of the rain showers may get less than that. should be a

good soaking rain. that is what we need to put a complete end to the fire season. cloud cover will chip away. the numbers will be suppressed heading into the weekend. let's take a look at forecast high temperatures tomorrow, before the next round of shovers arrives will be above average, five degrees above normal in san jose. you are the only one forecasting to reach the lower 70s. everybody else, middle to upper 60s. inland, the east bay, temperatures in the middle to upper 60s around the bay. middle to upper 60s. san francisco, oakland, guess what, along the coast, half-moon bay, middle 60s. farther north, the temperatures ever a couple degrees below normal. hitting the upper half represents a departure of what is normal for the middle of november. we will keep the trend going moving into the extended time frame. we will look at the forecast showing a half and half forecast. once we are passed saturday things will dry out. we will stand in the middle

here, we have the wet half of the forecast and then the dry half of the forecast. a bit of a warm up as well. we get closer to inland, the temperatures, hovering, through the first half of next week, once the dry weather settles in, it looks like it will last never a while. showing the seven-day forecast here. getting glimpses at the longer range model. it locks like it will stick around through the thrtion holiday on thursday. looks like we can see a dry, calm pattern sticking around through the four day weekend. next hint of rain might not come our way until the last couple of days of november. we have a few more chances tracking it. >> is it an art insulation or creepy message ever. how a run of the mill neighborhood dispute led to all of this . hey, straight ahead in
