. protesters put themselves front and center. they blocked the bay bridge at the height of the rush hour. >> you can protest. you have your first amendment rights, don't do it here on the bridge, don't impact people's lives and emergency vehicles. >> the consequences and hours long impact as they call for a ceasefire in the mideast. president joe biden delivering his message to tech and other leaders tauting our economy strength. >> i long said it never has

been a good bet against the american people. >> our economies are sustainable and resilient. >> thank you very much for joining us this afternoon. >> a very busy thursday as the bay area hosts the apec summit in san francisco. commuters, though, really feeling the pain as protest overs took over the bay bridge earlier today. this as president biden addressed the ceo's of major companies today. first let's get you caught up on today's other news headlines >> the jury found david depape guilty on two accounts in the attack of paul pelosi, the husband of nancy pelosi. we have more on today's verdict. >> this case made national headlines, depape had no visible reaction. they deliberated eight hours before finding him guilty. prosecutors say he broke into the pelosi home last year with the intention of holding the former house speaker hostage. the

defense said that depape was after her as part of a larger plan to what he viewed as government corruption. she was not there. her husband, paul, was, and depape struck him multiple times with a hammer, fracturing his skull and injuring his arms and hands. they heard testimony from paul and depape. >> this verdict sends a clear message. regardless what your beliefs are, you can not do is physically attack a member of congress or their immediate family for their performance in their job. in a statement a spokesperson for nancy pelosi say she and her family are deeply grateful for the outpouring prayers as he continues to make progress in his recovery. depape facing 50 yeefers years in prison. the a's have been given the

green light to leave oakland. they voted unanimously to approve the move. we spoke to the oakland mayor who says she is really disappointed. >> i know i will continue fighting, i know the fans will, too, to make sure the a's branding stay here in the city of oakland and possibility for expansion. >> baseball has a home in oakland even if the ownership relocates, the a's will play their home games at the coliseum until the 2024 season when the lease expires. after that, it is up, they will have to find a temp raiser home. the new las vegas ballpark is expected to open until 2028. you will be paying more for your pg&e bill. regulators improved a rate increase. the hike is not as high as proposed by the utility. pg&e says it is hard to cover the cost of wildfire mitigation. >> let's take a live look at the bay bridge right now.

traffic moving again in both directions this after protesters shutdown the westbound lanes for four hours today. more than 100 protesters calling for a ceasefire in gaza. they used cars blocking the city. we have more on the protests and the ripple effect. >> that is right. things are looking very different down here at the bay bridge and toll plaza. i will let you look at what is going on right now. traffic is finally moving in the westbound lanes after hours of nightmare for a lot of drive everis coming from the east bay. of course, this was shot down as you mentioned for four hours, demanding biden calling for a ceasefire. you can see how law enforcement responded

to the scene all of the way to treasure island where we got stuck for two hours. now, we know this, at least 80 people were arrested. chp already confirmed they have been released but they have been charged with unlawful assembly and refusal to disburse. it created a headache for many drivers. >> i almost ran out of gas in traffic. like, i am late for work literally right now. i was just sitting here crying, i am late for work again and stuck in traffic. >> you are looking at the bay bridge, westbound lanes, that open around 11:45 this morning after these protests, of course, more details about the impact of this major demonstration coming up at 5:00. back to you. >> all right, jose, thank you very much. one of the people stuck on the bridge closure this morning is an eye surgeon. while he supports the protester's cause he had patients waiting for

him. >> i support ceasefire, this war is terrible, okay. both israel and hamas are doing terrible things. we need a peaceful long-term solution. i support everybody on this bridge. i think a ceasefire, withdrawal of all troops, stop killing civilians, support that. i do recognize the legitimacy of this protest. 100% -- i would get arrested in 10 seconds rvetion happy to do that, call my office, tell my patients to be rescheduled. there are people that need help like in my office and would just like to go to my offices and do my work and help those people. >> ucsf told us all of the patients who were waiting for an organ that was delayed by protests are in surgery or recovering. no adverse effects are expect friday this. now, throughout the bay bridge shutdown, though, b.a.r.t was on line encouraging

commuters to hop on trains instead of trying to drive to their destinations. even asking caltrans taking b.a.r.t as an alternative instead of getting on other bridges. here is a look at what some drivers who were caught in that bay bridge traffic mess posted on social media. firsthand accounts as they could not get across this morning. we will keep an eye on the evening commute. people are trying to get across the bridge for the chase center event. those protesters know there are a lot of eyes on the bay area this week for apec. today, president joe biden joined business leaders at moscone center for a ceo summit. we find ryan in heart of all of the action what did we learn today from the meetings? >> reporter: liz let me first say this maybe is the biggest day of the apec summit. especially here at the moscone center with president biden and

all of the world leaders in town inside of the moscone center today. this morning, the president addressing the top leaders during a morning breakfast. spoke about history's historic meeting with xi jinping, talking about the deals made on the fentanyl crisis and reopening the lines of communication with the goal of avoiding a major conflict. and the businesses praising san francisco and the bay area for being at the forefront of technology and invasion. >> it is never been a good bet to bet against the american people. >> and after making his remarks to the top business leaders president biden refocusing his attention to the world leaders. mr. biden surrounded by the top dignitaries and economies including standing next to the president of peru who will host apec in 2024. then, happening tonight, all of the attention

from the moscone center to legion of honor. mr. and mrs. biden hosting a dinner for a formal dinner inside of the museum. as we are live here, a lot of the attention is on the moscone center with all of the world leaders in here and all of the ce os with president biden and xi. the rest of the focus will happen at the legion of honor. we have seen the protests on the bay bridge and downtown san francisco, expect them to happen at the legion of honor tonight. >> i know a lot of crews are ready for that. let me go back to where you are. you are at the heart of all of the action today. looking behind you it looks more quiet but the president was not really far from where you are standing right now. what was the atmosphere like? >> you and i were kidding how

quiet it looked. this is the media center, all of the politicians are heading out in the south and ceos are in the west. for a brief moment that room behind me is where they did the family photo with all of the leaders. for a short time it was buzzy hard in this room. >> you were there. all right, thank you very much. still ahead, has foot traffic really picked up for businesses in and around the apec summit? we will check back in

the san francisco police department and the secret service here tonight as president biden and the first ahead host a dinner for 20 other world leaders of the apec countries that are here in san francisco for this conference. there is not a fundraiser for biden. rather, an official white house event. bus routes rerouted. street closures in place in the outer richmond. impacting the general public. residents have to prove their residency to enter this area. so, you can see the barricade that have been set up. a heavy security presence so that the leaders can meet here tonight in san francisco. >> before sunrise this morning we were out on the embarcadero where the crews were taking down the barricades around the exploritorium. that is where president biden held a party last night. a lot of businesses are worried about slow traffic near

the summit. we got an update. the owner of bon chon says he has decided to close today through saturday. he tells us the loss was just too overwhelming. on monday he mentioned that they were already down 40% from the previous thursday through sunday. he says it only got worse. with monday, down 70%. each day since then down even more. he says even at skeleton staffing they would not be able to pay employees in a timely manner if they decided to stay open. now he is calling on the city to help small businesses recover from these losses. still ahead, lbgtq pride showcase as the apec summit is underway. the celebration put on by bay area leaders we a

. fireworks lit up san francisco's waterfront last night as part of the apec summit celebration. it is pretty spectacular. president biden's reception at the exploritorium brought out special guests, singer gwen stafani. it has been defined by politics, policy and protest and now pride. san francisco led the way in allowing people to love who they love. not always true in other parts of the world. which is why city leaders came up with gaypec. >> reporter: supervisor's office put on the event to show attendees, especially those from other countries that may not have lbgtq protections what a world with those protections would look like. >> i want guests to see i

should be able to have this back home and feel as though i am myself and not hide any of that. >> state senator scott wiener stopped by and so did evan lowe. he has been spreading the word about gaypec all week. >> throughout this entire week i had a number of delegates come to me acknowledging the fact they are aware of this gaypec event celebrating the community and they stated they wish they could be there but in their countries it would be criminalized and they would lose their jobs. it is heartbreaking to hear that. a stark reminder of the work that needs to be done >> still, several attendees from countries around the world did show up. local performer curveball told us it was nice to see such a big crowd. >> it is a great reminder for us who have the privilege to celebrate our queerness every day that we are able to gather other people who may not be able to do that and show what

lot of it is dry. a hit-or-miss pattern. the north bay, marin county going into far coastal situations. new cells developing over the south bay. moving straight to the north and more activity farther down snow the santa clara valley. a closer look, the north bay, light to moderate showers that are falling. it is a hit-or-miss pattern. the showers are slow out there. the shower over the south bay is heavy ever. it is out there right now in densely populated events in the bay area including santa clara getting heavier rainfall for a few minutes. not going to amount for a lot. it is coming down from a good clip for awhile. switching over to future cast and track it as we head through the evening. scattered showers are continuing. then, fizzling out. a couple hours after the sun goes down, a calm pattern, persisting as we go through the rest of tonight. more waves of

rain will be heading our way. let's look at the hour by hour rain chances for the bay area on friday. going up during the afternoon. waves of rain, the first of which are arriving around early afternoon and more waves of rain friday evening, friday night, even into saturday. unsettled forecast it is going to continue through the first half of the weekend. right now, looking outside, a mix of sunshine and a lot of cloud cover. the temperatures are mild. in the 60s right now. we are going to drop down to the lowtory middle 50s for the bay area later tonight. the temperatures bouncing up quickly from that point climbing up, once again, to where we were today. middle 60s for the warmer spots topping out around 70 degrees. taking a look at the seven-day forever cast. seeing the temperatures warming up through the next seven-days, getting behind the tubes here and guide you through what is going to happen. dry weather that takes over on sunday and prevails through the rest of thanksgiving week including for the last day of the seven-day outlook rvetion thanksgiving day, unsettled days ahead of
