the guy skweegie on the red carpet. >> i can not believe it [music] from kpix, there is the late news with sara donchey. on cbs news bay area. hello, i'm sara donchey, it seems like everywhere you turn today you needed to turn back around. that is life in san francisco during apec. if it was the conference or the protesters trying to steal the spotlight. it was all about going with the flow. that was traffic until it was brought to a halt. protesters shutdown the westbound lanes calling for a ceasefire. parking their cars and lying down on the road. after four hours 80 protesters were arrested and the bridge was cleared. more on the disruption that caused including people waiting on life-saving organs, a little later on the show and these

protesters rallying against chinese president xi jinping made a statement on the embarcadero. they packed a fer we protest signs and then they even hauled in this statue of ahead liberty and marched it around the ferry building. pro and anticommunism protesters faced off outside of the hyatt hotel. one person was taken away in an ambulance. with you don't know exactly why. and people who live and work in apec splash zones have been dealing with this hassle for days. security checkpoints and vehicle searches like this. this was outside of the palace hotel. going home or to work is one thing. imagine trying to have a wedding in the middle of all of that. one couple realize their knob hill venue is smack in the middle of a secure zone

surrounded by barricades and secret service. >> did you ever imagine that the secret service would be involved in your wed something >> that was not on the list. >> for these brides, apec was not part of their planning process until weeks before the big day. >> we knew about a month ago it would likely cause some confusion. and then we really found out a couple weeks ago that it was going to be severely impact it. >> reporter: they booked their venue months ago. this month it is in the middle of the secure zones due to the proximity of the hotel where president biden and other dignitaries are staying >> we needed to figure out our guests flying across the country and then ride sharing to the area and then carrying all of their luggage where do they go? where do they bring their stuff? some of them can

not lug luggage uphill. currently that is the only option. >> reporter: we are told guests for the wedding will not have to deal with the barriers but what they will have to do is make this trek up california street to get to the university club. and as we were making this trek tonight, we ran into some very special guests, the parents of one of the brides. >> i am getting my steps in and i am going to work out, work off whatever i am going to have for dinner. >> i am getting her steps in, too. >> reporter: not all can get to the venue by foot. one of the top concerns is their vendors getting to the club as well. >> and vehicle bigger than a minivan has to go to one of the piers to get searched by the secret service before going in. depending on what truck our florist uses we may have to get our flowers searched by the police. >> reporter: with these hurdles

closer look. heavier downpours moving in. lifting across the golden gate. still showers falling on the east side of the bay making their way through richmond. this activity will move straight across the north bay. more showers down along the coast. they are going to keep them just off of the coast heading through the rest of tonight. future cast picking up on the activity. largely keeping us dry as we head through the morning commute on friday. now, that will not be the case the entire day. another wave of more widespread rain will be moving in friday afternoon. the first of many because the heart of the storm system that has been effecting our weather all week is finally going to be moving closer to us. waves of rain will continue tomorrow evening, tomorrow night. the rain chances, never getting to 100%. where it is raining in every square inch, it will be high through the afternoon, evening showers, lingering through saturday check that out in just a few minutes >> paul, thank you very much. two people are facing charges in the case of the

woman found dead inside of a duffle bag at golden gate park this summer on august 13th. she was found stuffed in a bag in the north end of the park. her official cause of death still undetermined. the police arrested 26-year-old alexander madden and 33-year-old on charges of unlawful disposal of human remains and conspiracy. the man that stormed nancy pelosi's home and beat her husband with a hammer was convicted today on the federal charges he was facing. the facts of the case were never disputed here. prosecutors say david depape admitted he broke into the pelosi house with the plan of holding nancy hostage. >> the defense here, we will not know ever, probably, why this defendant chose to go to trial and my guess is he wanted to take the stand. one of the

questions is why did they not raise an insanity defense since he looks pretty delewded? >> he faces up to 50 years on this conviction and he is facing state charges including attempted murder and elder abuse. they took their case to keep the a's in oakland right to the very top. why the fans that went to arlington to make their case for the man himself came away stunned by his response. he has made millions of dollars off of music and merchandise promoting pot has snoop dogg danced his last dance with mary jane? the bay area. they did not last long enough in any particular spot to add up to even arvetion proaching the half-inch of rain. we will see wave after wave of rain tomorrow afternoon, evening, overnight, saturday, and that is going to boost the rainfall totals. let's take a look at what is on first alert doppler right now. looking at most of the rain hanging out off shore. enough of it made its way off of the land to give us a round in san francisco. down the peninsula earlier. now, the rain tapering off. raining at a good clip in marin county. the east bay, moving out of oakland. still raining in berkeley, richmond, moving from south to north as we head through the next several hours, gradually losing the intensity heading through the rest of tonight, let's take a look at future cast, showing that trend. dry break, taking hold in the morning. flashing your way through the morning commute. take the umbrella, here is the first wave of rain that moves in tomorrow afternoon. thomples will be possible within this. subsequent waves of rain headed

from south to north. breaks in between. not going to rain everywhere all of the time. more waves of rain. tomorrow night, saturday morning, finally things start to taper off heading through saturday afternoon. unsettled pattern. outdoor plans on saturday, pushing them back to sunday. sunday looking like the drier half of the weekend. the thunderstorm threat, the storm prediction center included much of california and all of bay area and the risk of what they call general thunderstorms. it means cloud-to-ground lightning possible, no overly gusty winds or anything of that nature. how much rain are we talking about? inland, rain showers in the east bay, santa clara valley, less than half an inch. general, outside of those locations, half an inch to an inch in totals. not falling all at once. keeping us from flooding issues, highest elevation spots in the north bay, along the coast and picking up over an inch and a half of additional rainfall and all of the cloud cover, taking

a chunk out of solarpower generation, might see breaks in it tomorrow. saturday looks like an overcast day. despite the clouds, the rain chances, the temperatures are going to warm up. take a look at where we top out tomorrow. 3-6 degrees above average. a warm air mass associated with the storm system. around 70, the warmest spots on the map. 71 degrees in san jose. talking about mostly to middle to upper 60s. does not sound all that warm. average highs are in the lower half of the 60s now that we are in the back half of november. the temperatures climbing into the upper half of the 60s. it registers as being above normal. these are tomorrow's highs, saturday's highs, similar despite the overcast conditions, and then we see the changes farther down-the-line in the seven-day forecast. let's bring it in. inland parts of the bay area, everybody will collect plenty of rain in the tubes in the seven-day forecast. we will see the rain chances diminishing, we go back to lots of sunshine heading through the rest of the seven-day outlook if it is for
