news bay area. >> hello, i'm sara donchey. if you are still in town you were hopeful it was the start of a calm holiday week. it was really anything but for some of the prominent companies in tech. they seemed to dominate all week. much of it surrounding two men, elon musk, who you know, and the billionaire owner of x and sam altman who you probably should know. he was the ceo of open ai until two days ago, open ai is the company behind chat gpt that stormed the internet that is where we start tonight after he was suddenly and unexpectedly let go. >> reporter: how loyal would you be to your boss even if you like them a lot? not as faithful as the employees of open ai, almost every single one of them threatened to quit

on monday over the firing of ceo sam altman ousted by the board on friday. aren't you saying hey, didn't i just see him at apec? >> you did, on thursday. >> how it can cure new diseases and find ways to solve some of our more premise problems. >> reporter: almost as quickly as he lost his job he got a new one with microsoft. but, more than 700 open ai employees left behind are not happy. they say they are ready to follow altman there signing this letter saying we are unable to work for or with people that lack competence, judgment and care for our mission and employees for its part of the board of directors said he was not consistently candid in his communication. salesforce ceo was crystal clear in his message to open ai employees threatening to leave. he posted on x promising to match their compensation to come and work

for him. meanwhile, open ai seems to regret his decision saying i never intended to harm open ai and i will do everything that i can to reunite the company. >> if you are interested in the united states continuing to be a leader in this technology in artificial intelligence you might be a little troubled by this kind of chaos. >> adding to that chaos, after an advertiser and exodus from x, elon musk is suing media matters over its matters of anti-semitic ads. he agreed with an anti-semitic post saying they are advertising hatred against whites. >> we will take action with colleagues this week to write to him to ask him to renounce

those comments and to cleanup his act. >> musk, we should note denied he is anti-semitic. self-driving car, cruise, is in a crisis of its own after the dmv pulled them off of the san francisco streets and the most important people in that company say they are out. a day after the cruise ceo resigned. gm has not offered much reason or details why. cruise is undergoing a safety review and drawing criticism for incidents like this one when a robo taxi dragged a pedestrian down the street last month. tonight, two parents at one oakland middle school are furious. they say a classmate gave their children and others psychedelic mushrooms during class. at least one of the students got sick. now the parents are pointing fingers at the school staff and the

district over how they are handling the whole thing betty yu spoke to both sets of parents and the district. >> reporter: a handful of students ate candy from a class mate last monday that parents say turned out to be chocolate shrooms. most of the students that ate the candy had a small portion, one student at enough to get sick. >> in my case my daughter was drugged because she took something without the knowledge of what was in it. i feel like if the child is exposed to drugs knowingly or unknowingly they should call the important immediately. >> reporter: brittany said thankfully her daughter did not fall ill. she is disappointed she did not hear from the principal until two hours after the staff members were notified. >> i was upset for one. i was concerned. highly concerned. she does have allergies, she could of lost her mind and never came back from it. i had a lot of thoughts, there was no

empathy >> even if you don't know what is going on, i should have been immediately notified that my underage daughter is at school high off of something that she did not know she was taking. >> reporter: veronica, who did not want to show her face on camera for privacy reasons is also frustrated. after staff members asked if the students felt okay they were allowed to go about their day. you >> let my child, unsupervised, so i feel like they should of kept them all in a room with adult super vision. these are kids. they don't know what it is to be high off of this. even if not they are under your responsibility. >> reporter: she took brittany's child and her daughter to get checked out as a precaution, but were told they do not show up on common drug tests and too much time had also passed for them to show up on a specific test. in a statement to kpix, the district said once we were a

leforted to the issue involving that sickened individual we immediately started investigating and called the families of all involved. several young people went home and the rest stayed on campus and continued their day as normal. as far as the student who brought the candy? the school said it addressed the person appropriately and asked the families to pay close attention to what their kids are consuming. veronica says the child was suspended for a few days, she wants that student expelled since show has a prior record of similar actions. >> i explained to my daughter, regardless who it is, everyone is not your friend. in this case that is a friend. >> we reached out to the district, again, late this afternoon for a response to the women's specific concerns. we have not yet heard back. a man accused of be heading his ex-girlfriend with a sword in the middle of the street has been found guilty. he was convicted of first-degree murder for killing a woman last year, his ex, and the mother of

his child. prosecutors called it an act of vengeance, his lawyers argued he was off of his medication for chronic schizophrenia. the jury still has to look at other factors in the case before he can be sentenced. thousands in merchandise gone in an instant. one california community is so fed up they plan to stop the thefts themselves. a basketball legend walked the red carpet in san francisco for a good cause. betty should of brought a ladder along to interview him. >> i wish i was a little taller in this moment. >> you smaller, me taller. >> how much someone shelled out to score a dinner with shaq. here is a question for the white house, if you are going to use that many candles, why not get the president a bigger cake? calm weather has taken over from last week's unsettled weather pattern. the forecast looking nice as it gets closer to thanksgiving. we have it all coming up on the first alert forecast

alert. the strong northeast winds made it difficult for people to do their jobs including this man's wife. >> she is a teacher, she said the wind was so bad that the kid his to stay in school, extend the classrooms, she said it was a rough day for her. >> i bet. another thing to note, thousands of homes could have their power shut off to prevent wildfires, something that we know all about here in the bay area. although paul, i got to say, i did feel strong winds in the city over the weekend. with a lot of rain as promised. >> we had a lot of rain on saturday into saturday night and then the winds kicked in on sunday. the off shore winds around the bay area would hurt the fire threat if we did not just pick up the rain across the bay area. now, a dry weather pattern settled in. this is going to continue as we head through the rest of the week. there are clouds off shore that will be moving into the bay area over the next few days. the clouds are unlikely to squeeze out more than a

sprinkle or two. future cast showing the cloud cover moving through waves. clouds moving through mid-level of the atmosphere. they do not block it as merchandise as filter it out the best chance of showers staying up north. then for thanksgiving we should be clearing out by midday on thursday with plenty of sunshine for thanksgiving afternoon. the weather looks great for travel around all of california. across the country potential trouble spots here and there. especially in the deep south with the severe weather threat. traveling on thanksgiving itself it looks good. the clouds will takeaway from our solargeneration but it should be back for the weekend making the most of our 10 hours and 15 minutes of daylight each day. this is the view of black mountain. the temperatures dropped to a mix of 40s and 50s. still 55 in san francisco. but, that is the warm spot on the map, 51 degrees in san

jose. the only other spot still in the 50s. we will drop down to the 40s by early tomorrow morning, a lot of places in the 40s. falling down to 40 degrees in the coolest spots on the map to the upper 30s around fairfield. temperatures around the bay and the coast not as cold still, middle to upper 40s which is normal for this time of the year. high temperatures which are going to be above average. close to 9 degrees above average in the santa clara valley, lower to middle of the valley. not quite that warm inland in the east bay, 60s there, 71 degrees in fremont, 72 in redwood city. the record is 73, coming close. upper 60s close to 70 degrees in san francisco and oakland. the temperatures inland and the east bay are going to reach well into the 60s. the warmest spots up to 70 degrees with similar temperatures in store again on wednesday and for thanksgiving on thursday. in fact, as we look at the 10 day

outlook for san jose you can see the temperatures do not change much for tomorrow and thursday and when they do drop friday and the rest of the weekend they still will be ready for a couple degrees above average. that is the theme for the entire bay area. backing down to closer for this time of the year, you see the above normal temperatures sticking around for the seven-day forecast and even beyond that. let's take a look at the seven-day outlook that includes that slight drop in temperatures by the time we hit the end of the week heading through the four day holiday weekend the temperatures still running a degree or two above normal even as we head into the last days of november and there is absolutely no rain in the seven-day forecast. passing clouds, tomorrow, and the long forecast data shows a dry pattern sticking around all of the way likely to the end of november. maybe a chance of showers by the time we finish the month. just enjoy the

chris paul, again. did it at both ends, season high, 12 assists, scored 15 points in the last three games, paul is 11 of 18 on threes. they had five players in double figures, made a season best, 21 threes and they won it 121-116. almost went over the home stand. snapped the six game losing streak and now on to the phoenix suns. nfl and 49ers business. it was not all good coming out of the win over tampa. the team confirmed this morning all pro safe talanoa hufanga will miss the rest of the season. wheels up tomorrow for seattle on thursday. now, a little last bit of sunday business, nick bosa renewed his rivalry with mayfield that dates back to college days, ohio state and oklahoma. mayfield, a sooner, blocked him in the first half and flexed about it. for the player of the year, he was not

speaking of football. a little extra bounce in sara's step tonight. i don't know if you noticed it. she came back and beat me this week in fantasy football by the slimmest of margins, 120-117. it all came down to travis kelsey. kelce? >> i was check figure taylor swift had a break in her world tour. i was nervous, i should say, context is everything, vern is sat the top of the league. so, vern and one of the other producers, henly, they are dominating, i am farther down the rankings the first time playing fantasy football. i snuck some advice from him here and there during a sports segment. i am going to be a little bragadocous about this one. >> remainder of the season, congratulations on the "w" tonight. >> thank you very much. that took a lot. i am sure.
