11:00 pm
. now at 11:00. >> i have been to seattle and their fans are pretty loud. >> the faithful are heading north for thanksgiving to drown them out. >> they made my life so happy and just so, fulfilled for years. >> including this fan, grateful for her special 49er bond with her late father. >> this is a way to celebrate with him. plus, mysterious dog illness races across the country. >> it starts out innocently and
11:01 pm
some cases it rapidly progressed. >> reporter: just as people are boarding their pups.. an oakland bbq joint that burnt up is giving back to people who need a little help for the holiday. from kpix, this is the late news with sara donchey on cbs news bay area. a look from above with the san francisco 49ers temporary home for thanksgiving, hopefully, they will be making a meal out of a different bird. i'm sara donchey alongside my friend matt lively. now, matt, i hear it is no easy place to play >> you heard correctly. they have the 12th man, that is the crowd, the fans, they rival the fans at levi stadium. when the seahawks decided to build the stadium. we are going to make it loud. it has a hang over roof that covers 70% of the
11:02 pm
stadium and it makes all of the noise bounce back on the field t. is brutal. back in 2013 they did a decimal test 106 decimals, what do you think it would rival? >> a loud truck or a train, maybe? >> you are getting closer. >> fleet week that is the sound of two jet engines about to take off. so, the crowd will be as loud as this. >> oh. talking to you seems difficult. >> now, brock purdy down here, signal this way t is hard t is tough. less than ideal work environment for the 49ers. thankfully they know what they are getting themselves into for thursday night football >> you can tell people how loud it is but, they don't know until they go there. >> brock purdy knows what he is walking into tomorrow night. >> the crowd obviously will do what they can to try to get us off beat. [ cheers and applause
11:03 pm
] >> fake toss, two fake tosses and then to kittle over the middle, touchdown, san francisco. >> reporter: he knows the best way to quiet the 12th man is to beat the seahawks just like the 49ers did last december. they cranked up the volume at practice to get ready for the noise. but george kittle knows he will hear more than what seattle fans are thankful for. >> one of my favorite atmospheres, they hate us, what a great fan base to absolutely hate news i love george kittle can you imagine that, they hate me here and a marching band with all of the noise. it is so important. in, fc west contest. the 9ers need a win. huge for the standings. this is something that the fans looked forward to. max, live for us at sfo where the faithful are taking flight for a bit of a nontraditional thanksgiving trip. max i feel this is better
11:04 pm
than staying home and arguing with your uncle larry. >> i would take this trip over arguing with uncle larry any day of the week. one of the cool things, sara, about fan bases like the 49ers who travel for their teams, they really show that pride from start to finish. so, here at sfo on a busy travel day it was easy to spot the 9ers fans, many whom were heading out to the seattle game. in their favorite jackets or nick bosa. most flying to seattle. we met a few fans that were decked out that we thought were going to seattle but were going to vegas, a story for another time. these guys will be there tomorrow. excited to spend thanksgiving together and cheering on the red and gold and helping them out, too >> it is a fun experience. 9er faithful we have to show up. >> we have to. we have to go and support the faithful, hype up the team. >> i have been to seattle before, their fans, they are
11:05 pm
pretty loud. we have to show up and help our team out and be there for them. >> they feed off of our energy. wherever they see the fans, how well we travel, i feel like they feed off of the energy and play better. >> reporter: so, they will be spending thanksgiving alongside tons of folks from the pay area in seattle who share one common bond, their love for the 49ers. so, tonight, we want to introduce you to another fan who will be spending her thanksgiving in seattle cheering on the 49ers. she is a forever faithful fan from san pablo that will always be grateful for the special father/daughter bond forged by the 49ers. >> reporter: she may live in a tiny home but the amount of love that she has for the 49ers. >> this is my favorites. >> reporter: is anything but. >> i have been a 49er's fan since the day i was born. >> reporter: that is all thanks to her dad, marvin roy. >> the whole reason i am into this at all is because of him.
11:06 pm
like my dad was everything to me and i this was everything to him. >> reporter: marvin passed away in 2019. she has a lifetime of memories with her father who became a season ticket holder in the '70s, well before she was born. but this ticket from 1994. >> very special day. >> reporter: brings her back to an extra special memory. >> you know, i got to be 11 years old at a championship game against dallas. i was just this little kid that did not fully understand the game yet. he was like babe, you want to come with me? yes! [ laughter ] yes, i do. >> reporter: the mere existence of the san francisco 49ers helped create an incredibly special father/daughter bond, one that she will always be grateful for. >> they have made my life so happy and so, just, fulfilled for years. >> reporter: so, what better way to spend thanksgiving than with the team that helped build that bond. she will be in the
11:07 pm
stands in seattle, cheering on the 49ers as they take on the sea hawks on thanksgiving day. >> this is a way to celebrate with him. >> i carry him with me every day no matter what, but, i get to carry him with me through this and he would be having so much fun with me, still, if he was still here. >> reporter: now, with all of this 9er's gear, figuring out what to put in her suitcase was not a easy decision. >> definitely my scarf. one of the last games at the stick. >> she will need it with her gloves and beanie as it will be chilly in seattle. >> i am not excited to be gold but i am excited to eat sea chicken. >> the support of the player that just ended a tear >> send him our blessing for a safe and speedy recovery. >> reporter: with that, show was ready to go. a forever faithful fan all thanks to her
11:08 pm
father. grateful to represent 9er nation in seattle and hopeful a big wins on the table this thanksgiving. >> reporter: so, she seemed pretty quiet during our interview not the loudest but come game day that is another story. we will be listening for her in that loud arena there in seattle. it is always the quiet ones you have to watch out for >> i was going to say the same thing. the fan that seems lovely, polite. yes. >> subdued, how are you, go get them! >> and chucking things >> they are playing fairly close in terms of the distance they could travel for a thanksgiving game. not playing in miami which is the longest distance you can fly. >> we talked earlier about making sure the thanksgiving dinner stayed civil and perhaps a little bit of football is safer subject than some others we have been trying to prepare you for that, prepare you for all of the travel. i don't think there is anything that
11:09 pm
can truly prepare you for avoiding the inevitable thanksgiving arguments >> no. other than just working on the holiday instead. >> a lot of us, viewers, we all have to do it >> we will be here and a lot of folks working on black friday. we will start weather in the forecast in seattle because some folks may take to the air tomorrow to get out there before the game kicks off and do a little tail gating, the forecast, kick off is at 5:20 p.m., on a network that is not cbs, i am told those exist. cooling off down to 40 degrees or so by the time the game wraps up. it will be chilly by our standards, folks in western washington are used to that weather. if you are traveling elsewhere, tomorrow, not nearly as busy of a travel day as today. and sunday, but it is going to be a day that is complicated by the weather around houston and a chance for showers and then denver, you see the forecast, high temperatures, 43 degrees, early in the day. late in the day it
11:10 pm
will be cooling off and the snow will start in denver late in the afternoon. complicate the flights southwest or united, major hub for both of those airlines, late in the day that is when a winter storm warning goes into effect. if you are going to stay closer to home and hitting the roads traveling around california, the travel weather looks just fine. the temperatures are near average or above average. in fact, for los angeles, sacramento, san diego, their high temperatures will be similar to what we will see around much of the bay area, upper 60s, lower 70s. cooler in the high sierra, lower 40s around south lake tahoe, for the resorts that made enough snow it is good news for them. the clouds will scoot out of here. clear skies later tonight and through the rest of the four day holiday weekend. maybe a couple high clouds sneaking through the skies ahead. i think we will see clear skies, making the most of our 9 hours
11:11 pm
and 55 minutes of daylight for solar. we should be back to pretty much the best we can do in terms of the solarpanels soaking up the late november sunshine for tomorrow and friday. the winds are not a problem right now. picking up late in the day tomorrow. atmosphere, squeezed between the systems, the winds, noticeable, already by late morning, elsewhere, later in the day. thursday evening, a wind advisory that goes into effect at 10:00 a.m. tomorrow. continues through 1:00 p.m. on friday. those gusty winds could be in the 40-50 mile-an-hour range, higher elevations for the north bay and the diablo range. the weather service for the bay area, it is not issued a wind advisory. still, something to be prepared for just in case you are in one of those spots prone to high winds. concerned later in the day on thanksgiving and the

11:16 pm
are using air purifiers, and have a quarantine period to keep pets safe. like covid precautions for humans >> any dog new to the bay area because we don't have the mystery disease here in san francisco is not allowed to come until two weeks of being here. our hope is if they come into san francisco without it, two weeks later they would have it and we would not let them in. >> reporter: she is trying to protect her dog about protecting it >> putting up signs at the dog park. maybe i will. i need something to do in my retirement. >> everyone knows that dogs are man's best friend. >> researchers say while the disease is not usually deadly it has so far resisted standard treatments and that can be concerning. but, while they try to figure out exactly what it is, it is a good idea to make sure your dog is up-to-date on all of their shots. tonight, a truly disturbing and very, very sad story to
