darren peck is in our virtual view studio. >> next storms, plural. the more impressive one is coming in with its eyes on sunday. it will be a pretty rainy period. there is a potential for some fairly impressive rainfall totals. here comes the friday rainmaker. this is a separate and distinct storm all on its own. it will just impact friday. it will give us three quarters inch of rain. you can see really well-organized line of rain coming through. that gets us into the friday commute, 4:00 hour. here we are at 5:00. here we are at 6:30. is that for timing? the only point in day on friday where it will rain is right on the friday evening commute and then things will clear out a little bit. as we go into rainfall
3:05 pm
totals, we pick up a half inch of rain. now it gets interesting. we will broaden our perspective. we have seen friday's rain come through. maybe there are a few stragglers on the saturday but what we are waiting for is this long line of moisture out here. watch what happens as we look at this in a slightly different way. instead of looking at what the potential satellite and radar would look like, let's look all of that and where the atmospheric river will be developing. we will see that get funneled into this system by sunday. let's go back and watch it again. now we will see the rain go our way. it will have -- sunday is the day we are watching for the most important part. look at that long patch of moisture bringing in some of the best rain through sunday, the second half of the day into the evening and
3:06 pm
then extending into monday. there is still some nuances to this forecast in terms of timing. this could move up a little bit. it could move back a little. this is wednesday and we are looking at a forecast on sunday. we probably just need to give this a little more time before we try to nail down the specifics in terms of the timing. there is a good amount of rain coming our way. the first storm on friday not super impactful. the second set up coming our way, primarily sunday and monday will be the more impactful side of it. if you look at the grand total, there is about 6 inches of rain on there. for snow in the sierra, we picked up a foot and a half. i am showing you the friday through monday time frame. these storms are not huge snow makers. it will impact the drive on sunday. the other thing we need to talk about is the niner game, which is right in the middle of all of this and there is some
3:07 pm
positive news in terms of the game. if we know the timing of these storms, the first one is coming in friday and then that more impressive one has its sights set on sunday. that gives us a open window of opportunity on sunday but we are not entirely in the clear . we will have some leftover showers from that friday system and if sunday speeds up a little bit, that would have a significant impact on the game but that is the official forecast right now. >> let's look at it in the 7-day forecast. we will see the numbers lining up easily. there is plenty of rain back here. about a half inch of rain. sunday, it gets interesting. stay on top of the forecast for us. the fbi is warning about a growing and alarming trend involving our youth here in the bay area and across the country. offenders targeting young people in what is known as sextortion crime. that is
3:08 pm
where offenders coerce a minor to create and send sexually explicit images or video and then threatened to release those images. in some cases, they demand more. in other cases, they want a payment. from october 2021 to march 2023, the fbi and homeland security investigations received more than 13,000 reports of online financial sextortion of minors. involved at least 12,600 victims and they say it led to at least 20 suicides. joining me today is fbi san francisco special agent in charge robert trip. when you hear those numbers, as a parent, you can't help but have your heart skip a beat, to know that that many people have fallen victim to the predators. who are these predators targeting? what group of kids? how are they getting access to that? >> truly, those numbers are
3:09 pm
heartbreaking. unfortunately, the scammers are getting in contact with the kids just through regular means of communication. they will look at online platforms where children go, gaming platforms are seen as an entryway for the scammers. social media platforms. they will make that contact. they will move into their part. >> every parent up there is wondering. are there safety blocks i can put in place on my kids phone or computers? what can parents do to protect themselves? >> have a conversation with your children. children have to know that the internet is a place for entertainment but it can also be a dangerous place. they have to be very conscious of who they are communicating with. telling children, be careful who you are talking to. telling children to cover up your webcam when you are not using it. lastly, you have to
3:10 pm
tell your children that anything they send over the internet does not go away and that can come back to haunt them. >> what are warning signs that parents, teachers, caregivers can look out for if they think a child may be victim to this? >> these victims are under incredible stress. they should look for simple changes in behavior in children. being a teenager is difficult enough but when somebody is threatening to expose something incredibly embarrassing, the stress on the children is almost always very obvious. >> if you find somebody that is a victim, what can the parent do immediately? >> the most important thing is to report it. contact the fbi or call your local law enforcement agency for. getting in touch with law enforcement is a critical first step. we can reach out and give you guidance on how to respond to
3:11 pm
this and hopefully we can bring justice to people who were victim of this horrible crime. >> from a law enforcement perspective, what does the local law enforcement do to help stop this type of extortion from predators? >> we are conducting various investigations. this is not a local crime. many of the perpetrators are based overseas. we are seeing a lot of organized groups based on southeast asia. we have contacts in those countries that can help us with those investigations to get the evidence we need to identify the subject send to get there locally based, domestically based co-conspirators to try to put a stop to it. >> special agent, thank you so much for this valuable information. >> thank you. we are going to continue this conversation with the mental health impacts of sextortion on

>> thank you for having me. >> how often are you hearing about sextortion in your own practice? >> i would say it is becoming a more common problem. if i had to estimate amongst my own patients, probably 60% have had experiences with it. >> in your own practice here in the bay area? >> yes. >> that is shocking to me. what are things that parents can look out for if they think that their child might be a victim or might be under the spell of these predators? >> you can look for changes in mood and behavior. what we see is these kids will become a lot more stressed or worried. there might be shame or embarrassment, even suicidal ideation or self-harm behavior. depression, anxiety. if you are noticing any of these things or if you're teen
3:16 pm
is becoming more withdrawn, that might be signs of concern. >> 60%. why do you think those numbers are so high and what leads to these kids being victim? >> minors are at higher risk . first of all, what i have seen is in the situations of romantic relationships, especially among females, there is an element of wanting to please their partner or gain acceptance, thinking that this is what i have to do to get the person to like me. a lot of adults that are victims are already suffering from under the mental health issues. that might put them at higher risk. also, a lot of these sites are targeting minors. minors are still having their brains developing, especially the prefrontal cortex which is responsible for solving,

decision making and it is more challenging for them to think ahead and think about the consequences and to realize that once you post something, it is out there forever. >> you may not be thinking about the consequences as much. >> what about parents and caregivers? what kinds of conversations should they be having before they become a victim of this type of crime? >> like you said, it is very important to have these conversations early and do not shy away in talking with your teens about sex, talking to them about consent, about how you set boundaries, even practicing scenarios. what would you do if x happened? knowing the different risk situation -- what is illegal and what might harm somebody or
3:18 pm
themselves? teaching them about safe use of social media . >> what about the short-term and long-term impacts of children's mental health when they are a victim of sextortion? >> they may have a lot of failed blame. why did i do this, how did i get myself into it? even trying to search for the content or go online to preoccupation with finding what was supposedly posted or circulated and that can increase the worry and fear, fear that the perpetrator might return, increased depression or isolation. there might be loss of relationship either because they're worried about what others may think of them so they withdraw from them or because there is some judgment or blame placed on them for putting themselves in the situation. >> these types of cases led to
3:19 pm
20 suicides last year. if your child is a victim to this type of crime, how should you approach it >> the most important thing is to let them know that you are available to talk no matter what and to approach it from a stance of not placing the blame and criticizing but using it as an opportunity to educate and process. one of the protective factors that has gone on to cover is having someone trusted that they can talk to about it. if you are noticing that the distress is continuing or starting to impair functioning, seek professional help. also, getting them online. if individuals are continuing to be active on a social media, starting soon -- to search for

the content to take it down or identify the source, that can exacerbate the symptoms. >> thank you so much for this valuable information. >> thank you. if anyone you know is struggling with mental health, you can always call or text national suicide and crisis hotline at 988. on the healthwatch, a new report from the american cancer society finds a concerning rise in cancer deaths or people under the age of 50. colorectal cancer is now the leading cause of cancer deaths in men under 50 and second for women in the same age group. >> all we really know is it has to be something environmental. when we see this cohort effect, it is not something else. it has to be some sort of exposure or dieting. >> prevention is key. the american cancer society recommends starting colorectal

halfway through the second quarter. >> jordan love picked apart the cowboys in his first career playoff start. he has thrown 21 touchdowns against one interception over his last nine games. love presents a newer challenge to the 49ers' defense than when the packers had aaron rodgers. >> they have a lot of the same guys from the past and a quarterback who does exactly what he is supposed to do. aaron rodgers is the hall of fame, he went outside of the realm of coaching and sometimes it is good when you have a guy who does what he's coached to do. >> taylor swift and her custom-made travis kelce jacket had social media buzzing over the weekend. it turns out it was designed by his teammates wife. >> my wife was talking about that but i told her i don't have her number. that would be
