at 635. all right onto our 1st alert weather now windy conditions in parts of the bay area as we kick off father's day weekend, meteorologist jessica birch is tracking it all from the virtual view studio. hey, jess. it's gusty as we head into the next couple days wind speeds today, anywhere up to around 30 mph expected closer to san francisco and just along our shoreline. here's the reason why we have a strong pressure gradient with low pressure to the north, high pressure to the south, just allowing for that onshore breeze to become a very noticeable all throughout the state of california and back here in the bay. eight to i mean, we woke up this morning with relatively breezy conditions along the coast closer to the golden gate bridge. but what what happens as we head into this afternoon? bodega bay is a good example. 40 mile per hour winds there were expecting about 25 to 30 mph winds in our inland areas at times, but other than that, it's honestly a beautiful forecast we had quite the week with the weather, especially with the heat wave earlier this week and then below average temperatures yesterday were averaging out finally as we head into this weekend, which is perfect for any outdoor activities, that juneteenth

block party is going to be amazing with sunshine 60s and 70s in the forecast that's happening over in san francisco at the fillmore district, and let's take a look at san francisco today. we're sitting in the 60s to kick cough this father's day weekend 70s just across the bay bridge over in oakland. we have 70s and 80s up in the north bay 80s off into the east bay. it is a beautiful, beautiful day to get out there and get some fresh air. just keep in mind. it is going to be a gusty 1 in time, so be prepared for that. other than that, though, i mean, we're talking about 80s down into the santa clara valley 85 near morgan hill. watch what happens as we head into the next 7 days. speaking of aids, we're going to pretty much copy and paste that each day yes, a little bit of differences here and there with plenty of sunshine in the forecast for us, but this is our inland forecast. watch what happens as we head over to the bay. that's kind of harder to copy and paste the bay forecast and the reason why i say that well, that marine layer. it's kind of stubborn, especially in the morning hours. we had that today we're going to see sunnier skies both saturday and sunday, which is perfect for any outdoor activities. and then we want monday rolls around. we get that marine layer rolling in once again,

and that's going to last as we head into tuesday wednesday, and you know what? thursday is the 1st day of summer, right around the corner. we're expecting 70s along the bay shore line, just in time to kick off summer and style. francisco will become a sanctuary city for transgender and gender nonconforming people this week, the board of supervisors voted unanimously to make that declaration just as many states and cities push to restrict transgender rights and in the city. there's a group working to help trans and gender nonconforming business owners navigate challenges are max darrow introduces us to 1 entrepreneur who is celebrating the support. >>devin burton is >>a healer. >>and today they have the keys to 1 acupuncture clinic in oakland's diamond >>district. >>but if all goes as planned, >>welcome, i'm going to have you on this table

safe here and that that it makes me also want to come back and do much more. >>the details of the dreams >>made differently, >>but the >>sentiment >>remains >>the same >>for everyone. they're striving for success and support is key in finding >>it. >>which is why to devon unstated benefit of the program, the community the collective >>strength >>is so >>vital think for a lot of black trans people. that idea that they are normal and they're beautiful, and that they love is so hard to do when someone is not whispering to them every day like you deserve to live right now. >>on a daily basis. burton sees and appreciates people for who they >>are. >>they like to see more of that in the community. >>i appreciate always the work that people put towards of making spaces more accessible for making spaces feel a lot more safer, like i want to see the effort. i want to see people asking questions. and at
3:11 pm
the same time, i think there needs to be >>more. that's why they're driven to expand to build more collective strength to provide a place where people feel safe and scene for a moment of peace being 100% who they >>are. the team of the transgender district hopes to eventually see a contingent of trans and gender nonconforming business owners in the area. however, they will cheer on entrepreneurs wherever they end up. we met 1 entrepreneur who went through the ap and found success they are now in the process of expanding their catering business called concept kitchen. it feels really good to know that other folks like myself that will be able to get an opportunity to expand their business have been in like the process of looking at different spaces around san francisco so hopefully soon, like, maybe this year or next year early next year. i have a space i'm looking for, like a brick and mortar sucking like that so food in there for more information about the a p and

well. when you think about pride. here in san francisco. you probably think about the parade, right? the vibrant colors on display in the castro and all across the city. and, of course, all the parties and celebrations. but behind all of that is a deeper history and meaning that's evolved over decades. for more perspective and all that. i'm joined by suzanne for the executive director as sf pride's thanks so much for being here. thank you for having me and we know that there's a lot of parties a lot of celebrating during pride month, but it also has a deeper meaning here in san francisco. what does sf pride mean to you? well, i came the 1st year i held the banner at the front of
3:16 pm
the parade, and i was newly out trans woman and it said to me that here in san francisco that i could be myself that i could come here and have a life in the community. and really be a part of things. some places may accept us but here were celebrated, and i like being part of that tradition. it's interesting. you bring that up because we know trans rights are under attack and other parts of the country. but san francisco was just recently declared a sanctuary city for trans individuals. what message do you think that sends to the rest of the country and the world? it says that here in san francisco, if you're a trans person, you're part of our community. we're going to make sure that you're cared for and loved. and many people are fleeing from the onerous laws and spread states that are limiting healthcare for trans adults and and eliminating trans healthcare for for children. so i think you're seeing that many people are coming here to get services
3:17 pm
that they need. think what's so remarkable about pride month, especially on parade day in san francisco, is how many people come from all over the world to specifically celebrate here. what do you think it is about san francisco that makes it continue to be a really a capital for pride? this is the birthplace and with new york of the that struggle for human rights for queer people. and san francisco pride like i grew up in kentucky. you're watching the news and once a year they come on the screen. they would show you pictures from san francisco pride. and i knew that someday if i could get here, i could be part of this. and i think that that message that beacon of love to the world that says i'm just san francisco. this is how people should live. we should be celebrated this year you mentioned beacon of love. that's the theme of this year's pride month. why choose that theme? why beacon of love? why
3:18 pm
was that important this year? almost all the entries we had for themes had some. it had some illusion to love and we put them all together. we worked with a great designer nicole gloss and we were able to come up with the artwork and the theme together at 1 time, and it's wonderful. you can see the pink triangle on our team, and it's actually is a beacon of love that pink triangle sets to the world that we're not going to ever let that happen here and that people are going to be able to find joy in our community and expanded some even more events this year, right even if a golf tournament well, this will be the 6th annual golf tournament in september. i'm really proud of that. i'm 1 of the 4 founders of the tournament we've already raised over $250,000.05 years, and it's just grown beyond what our wildest dimension imagination we have it at harding park every year and it's in september this year, so celebrating pride all year round. all year round. we we

work. i just want to say our team appear there's 5 of us and we are working so diligently to give this city the celebration that deserves and we hope our community is proud of us. it's just getting started. the month is not over. we'll see you out on the street. absolutely. suzanne ford, the executive director of sf, pride, thanks so much for being here. thank you all for having me have a great day. and while san francisco gets a lot of attention for its lgbtq, plus seen another safe space for trans people of color is arriving in oakland are et hot takes us inside the underground ballroom scene. yeah. >>i'm >>quite welcome to the glittering world of ballroom colors are bright drama is high and the heels are even higher was a very much an escape from me in 2021 so fishy moved to the bay area from brooklyn
