11:02 pm
neighborhood. on monday night, allen says his wife went on their walk alone, and that's when the unthinkable happened. >> they were chasing her and he brandished what looked like a sword or some type of long stick, and he was yelling, hey, i need to ask you a question. but of course, he wasn't trying to ask questions. he was truly just trying to hit her. and he ended up hitting her three or four times. >> reporter: allen says just a few hundred feet from their house, his wife walked past a car with two people inside. that's when he says a young man jumped out of that car and attacked her. >> she came this way, i think over here, and he hit her. and then she went that way, tried to evade him, and he hit her again, two more times. and then that's when the neighbor saw from the top what was going on and started screaming. and she came down to help my wife, and then the kid ran back down the street into the car and they sped down. >> reporter: allen says his wife was cut on her arm and her back. they called the police, but the suspects were gone
11:03 pm

11:04 pm
this basic need of safety is missing. there's no safety in the city. >> reporter: it's that, allen says, has given him no choice but to move. he says he and his wife are already looking at places in other areas, and he's hoping to get his mother out of the city too. it's national night out, and across the country communities held block parties and invited local police. here in the bay area, the event comes on the heels of a violent weekend in oakland. oakland police say five people were hurt in a shooting at an illegal sideshow early sunday morning and three people were hospitalized after a shooting near the west oakland b.a.r.t. station on monday. despite the recent wave of violence, oakland mayor sheng thao and organizers say tonight was about positivity. >> we get to come out, break bread, and not just that, but get to know each other. that's the way we keep ourselves safe. >> focus is for neighbors to come here and have a good time. >> recent police statistics are reporting overall crime is down about a third in oakland as of

11:09 pm
inclusive, and more prosperous minnesota. >> reporter: he was named chair of the democratic governors association. in july of 2024 he led a delegation of democratic governors to the white house to confront president joe biden over concerns about his age. walz emerged from that meeting insisting biden was fit enough to stay in the presidential race. walz has been married to first lady gwen walz for 30 years. they have two children, hope, age 23, and gus, age 17. this is the audi red and gold report. >> how about we talk 49ers? they're going to take the field -- >> it's a great theme song, by the way. i love it. >> did you think of that one? >> sure. >> they're going take the field for their preseason opener four days, but the biggest story line about camp right now is really the business off the field. >> what to do about receiver brandon aiyuk? you know, the 49ers, jules, they really don't have to do anything at
