. welcome back. the police in the south bay arrested a dozen suspects connected to a mail theft and fraud ring in santa clara county. reports of suspicious activity at a mail box led the detectives to two apartments. officers searched the apartments and found stolen mail keys, drugs, body armor. the police found large amounts of stolen mail, ids, credit cards and license plates all 12 suspects were arrested on charges related to stolen property, fraud, drug possession and resisting arrest. all right, on that, let's get to our lovely weather >> it is better than that >> yes. brighten things up a little bit >> yes. it has been consistent through most of august so far >> yes. >> after a hot july, running close to normal, spells of cooler weather, now, we are

going to get more turbulent over the next few days, a drop and then a big climb. you don't say. okay, fill us in >> a weather whiplash headed our way. >> all right >> let's look at the big picture and how it will revolve. the big picture perspective of how things are going to change as we finish the workweek and head into the weekend. here is a look at the perspective. near high temperatures tomorrow, no huge changes on wednesday. however, the next tropical storm system that is unusually early in the season for this activity. more of a fall-like system will approach the pacific coast. most of the energy near oregon and washington. those two states will have showers into northern california and close enough to us to kick in a stronger onshore breeze, bring more clouds to the skies over head, bring significantly cooler temperatures, 5-10 degrees below average and it will send a chance of rain showers to the northern half of the bay area as we finish the workweek on friday. here is a

look at future cast. zooming in for a closer look as we get closer to that time frame specifically on friday, friday evening and the best chance of any shower activity will be going farther to the north within the north bay. the radar showing some of that. keep in mind, one version of one forecast model. there are others that are more aggressive. keeping the rain to the north. this is the middle ground. we expect coastal drizzle regardless if showers move into the north bay. unusual to be talking about shower chances in august. not amount to much, barely a trace. but, again, it is august. it is not what we expect to happen this time of the year. in the short term what we are watching is calm conditions out there right now. looking from san jose towards treasure island and san francisco. temperatures retreated from the warmth we had earlier running in the 60s across the board. 61 degrees to 69 degrees in san jose and in concord. we will see a little more fog heading low the rest of tonight. not a lot. future

cast shows some of it pushing towards the inland valleys, not a huge intrusion of the fog, inland being yet, tomorrow morning, fog will be more stubborn on the coast. i don't think it will pull as far away from coast, limited sunshine on the shoreline compared to today and on yesterday. so, let's talk about temperatures, dropping off as we head through tonight. we will be in the 50s across the board tomorrow morning and then warm up one more day to near average highs, looking at the santa clara valley first, just a degree below normal. lower to middle 80s. 70s around the bay, close to 80 degrees down the peninsula and redwood city. the warmest spots, far inland staying in the upper half of the 80s as far as we will go. lower 80s, some spots staying in the upper 70s for high temperatures already tomorrow and we do have more of the same in store as we head through the rest of the workweek and into the weekend as well. so, let's take a look at the seven-day

forecast. the temperatures continue to drop. thursday, friday, coolest days, mix of upper 70s and lower 80s for inland parts of the bay area. there is the climb, temperatures cloes to 100 degrees inland heading into monday and tuesday. so, it will be a sharp change in the overall weather pattern from the cool and normal conditions brought to us by the pacific storm system to above average temperatures and flirting with a few records here and there. temperatures around the bay getting into the lower 80s by monday and tuesday. along the coast you will notice the warm up, not as maybe as steep as inland areas. but, lower half of the 60s up to the lower 70s by monday and tuesday. we will go from drizzle coolness to it is still summer. there is that reminder >> thank you. >> i got kamala's voice mail and i just started rambling. hey, it's doug. i am on my way
