secret service did what they should have done and their agent did a fantastic job. >> then, in oakland, wineshop owners saying it will take more than crime to shutter down how she is changing her business model in order to survive. >> kicking off hispanic heritage month with the sights and sounds of tonight's celebration in san francisco. good evening. the man that the authorities believe is behind the second assassination attempt of former president trump is behind bars tonight. u.s. secret service agents opened fire after seeing the suspect with a firearm near the former president's golf club in west palm beach, florida. while mr. trump was golfing this afternoon. >> secret service agents fired four shots at the suspect. there is no indication that the suspect fired back. witnesses saw a man run out of bushes lining the golf course and jumped back into a black suv. that witness took a picture of the license plate of the suv and about 30 minutes north of

the golf course resort. the police stopped the suv and took the suspect into custody. the former president is unharmed. we have the latest from outside of the golf club in west palm beach. >> reporter: brian, andrea, good evening. at this point we are getting a clearer picture of the suspect in this case. the officials say that it was an eyewitness who was key in officials being able to capture him. >> former president donald trump and federal authorities say he is safe after an apparent assassination attempt at his west palm beach golf course on sunday. >> 1:30 this afternoon a call came out, shots fired. that was called in pie secret service. >> former president trump is safe and unharmed following a protective incident shortly before 2:00 p.m. on sunday at trump international golf club at west palm beach. the u.s. secret service opened fire on a

gunman near the property line and this matter is under investigation. >> reporter: the authorities brought a man into custody and we confirmed the name is ryan routh in his late 50s. trump was playing a round of golf at the time of the incident. it comes two months after a gunman attempted to assassination a former president during a rally in pence peps. he posted a message on social media assuring them he is safe and well saying nothing will slow him down. >> a male was seen with a high-powered rifle near trump international golf club. >> he was aiming the gun where trump was playing at the time. they engaged the suspect firing shots as he tried to flee on foot >> in the bushes where this guy was is a ak-47-style rifle with a scope. two backpacks which were hung on the fence that had ceramic tile in them and a go-pro. >> reporter: the white house

business is hoping to reopen their restaurant it is located in downtown oakland at corner of 13th street. she opened her business in december of 2022 with big success. she wanted to showcase fine wine produced by women of color. however, her business took a nosedive this year, so, she temporarily closed her shop last month. crime in oakland is scaring people away. >> there were days i would make $300 and i have a staff of three people working. so, oakland does not have the credibility of being a safe city. if people's cars are getting broken into, they are not coming. >> she will reopen this week with a new model, a smaller wine selection to bring down the costs and she is partnering with neighboring corporations to encourage office workers to come after work. in other news tonight, san francisco firefighter was holding a cat after rescuing it from an apartment fire in san francisco. it happened at hyde

in the tenderloin, the video shows a cat hanging from the ledge of the building. yikes. the firefighter on the ladder trying to coax the pet but it ran away the cat was saved by another firefighter. crews say the cause of the fire an accidental kitchen blaze. >> school district officials in san francisco waiting until next month to name the latest round of school closures after the list was supposed to be released this wednesday. the superintendent says the district needed extra time to make sure there was a set fiscal analysis of their plan. it is not clear how many schools are on the list to either close or to merge as the district struggles with a budget deficit and declining enrollment. they added the statement of the goal of closing schools is not to save money but to improve the experience for students and teachers by aligning the number of schools we operate with our current enrollment. they can manage the resources effectively and ensure every

. silicone valley is a hub of development and now they are trying to use it to develop wildfires early. there are 50 sensors installed across the area. the goal is to alert fire departments about wildfires in realtime in hopes of preventing them from becoming full born wildfires >> since we are on this topic, firecrews stopped forward progress on the cougar fire burning off of lakeville highway in sonoma county. it has burned 40 acres, 0% containment and more than a dozen fire engines, helicopters, air tankers are fighting the fire that began at 1:00 this afternoon. down in southern california, three large scale wildfires burning at the moment. the largest of the three, the bridge fire, burning in l.a. and san bernardino. that one sits at 54,000 acres. the line fire also in san
