calling for justice after she dies inside of a bay area jail cell, a east bay plan doing everything he could to cutback on his high-power bill until he realized it was not actually his. we have seen him zip through a racetrack and tackle an obstacle course. >> stand up straight, dude. >> now vern goes head-to-head with a tennis pro. >> i am trying to participate. kpix late news with sara donchey on cbs news bay area. hello, i'm sara donchey, tonight we are hearing from the defense team in a bay area murder case about to go to trial. you may remember it last april, accused of stabbing bob lee just after they left his sister's home. he stabbed lee and argued their client did not think he killed him.

>> there is evidence tangible evidence that nema did not believe he was fatally injured and bob lee walking up up main street. >> but he was angry about a situation with his sister that ingested the date rain drug given to him by another man. he aggressively questioned lee about what happened and then they say momeni drove up under the bay bridge and stabbed him three times with a can i have enknife. kitchen knife. >> i think it is overbearing. it is misplaced if the drug dealer should be selling drugs to his sister and then they use that as some sort of springboard to say he is so

overbearing, so protective. it really is, it is, it is something that i think it is a stretch. >> and there is a dispute over a piece of video that the prosecution says it shows momeni reenacting the stabbing outside of his former attorney's office after he was arrested. the defense is trying to have that video dismissed. pretrial hearings are set to start tomorrow. we can expect jury selection to begin next week. stay with us. we will continue the coverage of this high profile case. family and friends of a young woman found dead they want answers. found unresponsive in her jail cell earlier this month. her family does not know exactly how she died. family and supporters of 22-year-old hadley gathered outside of san francisco's women's jail demanding justice for the woman found dead in her cell earlier this month. >> she matters. she deserved her day in court. she deserved advocacy. she deserved a voice. she delivered to live. >> according to the sheriff's office, she was found unresponsive on september 3rd and pronounced dead that same day. how exactly she died remains unknown. the sheriff's office says it is conducting an investigation but her family says they want their own independent investigation done >> we demand justice to the unanswered questions that we are seeking. >> reporter: before her death she had been behind bars for close to two years. she was arrested back in september of 2022 in connection to a string

of armed robberies. she was charged with 13 counts of armed robbery to remain behind bars. they tried to get her diverted into a mental health program but denied. her supporter say those denials contributed to the environment that led to her death and blame district attorney brook jenkins personally for keeping hadley behind bars. >> i sat in that court hearing and i watched as the district attorney argued against mental health a version for hadley. it was a shame. it was terrible. >> reporter: in a statement da jenkins responded to hadley supporters saying hadley was detained because of the public safety risk she posed the court denied defense counsel's numerous requests for mental health diversion because it was not warranted in this case. had

defense counsel worked in their client's best interest and prepared to settle or go to trial sooner this tragedy may have been avoided. sadly, we will never know. the da went on to offer her condolences to hadley's family but hadley's family says they are not stopping here. they want accountability for her death and say they will continue to fight until justice is served. >> because this capsule we are in is temporary, these hearts we carry are forever more. if you don't know nothing else she is loved and we will not stop. . back open tonight after a vegetation fire shut the road down in east san jose. this was near the onramp to northbound 101. firefighters say one hotel had minor damage from this fire and that no other buildings were involved. it is the time of the year we talk about it every year. i was talking earlier with zoey about something unusual, possibility of moisture. >> a little bit of rain. nothing that ends the fire season but every bit of moisture helps. it keeps the fire threat a little lower around here. good news so, many of our firecrews are down south helping the fires in southern california. take a look at the picture patern and why we will see this mid-september chance of showers in the forecast tomorrow. that is because we have another storm system heading our way. and my graphics are not showing up for some reason. okay. we will just go back to what is happening here on the floor and talk about how things are going to evolve through the day tomorrow. always some kind of

complication, let's look at the clouds first, spreading across the bay area and pretty much everybody will start off with gray skies early tomorrow morning, by midday in the afternoon, despite a chance of showers, cracks in the cloud cover developing for inland parts of the bay area, that will not warm temperatures up a lot. 5-10 degrees below average. it will be add just a little bit of views to the atmosphere and instability. outside chance of a couple of thundershowers during the afternoon primarily. let's turn the clouds off and take a look at the radar simulation from 6:00 a.m. through noon tomorrow. that is going to send a descent chance of showers across the entire bay area. 50/50 chance in any one spot of seeing a trace of rainfall. lasay descent chance of rain considering it is mid-september. heading into the afternoon, remember, that is when the sunshine peaks through and a chance of a few thundershowers in the inland portions of the east bay and for the north bay as well. everything pinwheeling around the center of circulation of the storm system. then, we will

see everything kind of quieting down heading through tomorrow evening, after the sun goes down, i think we will be back to a couple patches of left over drizzle and that is the extent of the moisture that we see out of this system. now, the cool air, sticks around, another day that will feel more like middle to late october as opposed to mid-september. the temperatures reaching up into the lower to middle 70s. 74 in san jose, a full seven degrees below normal. temperatures east of the hills, middle 70s. these are the warm spots, only having 76 degrees, you can be 96 or 106 this time of the year. temperatures, middle 60s along the coast and middle 60s in san francisco. touching 70 degrees in oakland and mostly in the middle to lower 70s for the north bay as well. 5-10 degrees below average. a big turn around in our temperatures on the way heading towards the weekend and into next week especially that will send us 5-10 degrees above average for the tail end of the seven-day

forecast. here is the outlook, talking about weather whiplash, 70s, a chance of showers, inland tomorrow, to temperatures in the middle 90s on a widespread basis on sunday, monday, tuesday. sunday is the equinox. the first day of fall will feel every bit of summer while the last few days of summer here feeling more like autumn. everything is backwards. temperatures around the bay, warming up, in the 70s this weekend and lower to middle 80s by monday and tuesday. temperatures along the coast. thursday, to around 70 degrees by sunday, monday, tuesday. with a little bit more sunshine peaking through the clouds for coastal parts of bay area as well by early next week. >> we are going to utilize the whole wardrobe. >> we are. everything in one week if you like it or not >> all right. keep those short shorts handy, paul. >> absolutely not. nope! utility bills have been painful for a lot of us for awhile man. a man was feeling it every time he was paying his
