barrage of missiles fired a week ago. retaliation is something israel vowed to do. >> you can stay up-to-date with the very latest happening in the middle east as well as other remembrances and demonstrations across the bay area. turning to the weather and this seemingly unending heatwave. many cities matched or broke records. some of them date back to the 1930s. the temperatures were scorching. it will likely go down as the hottest start to october on record. let's look at some of those records that were broken. san rafael , up to 107 this afternoon. the old high temperature was 95. you broke that by a lot. san

francisco, we also broke leaving 97 downtown. it was extremely hot. one of the hottest days in october that we felt in a while. oakland, was your first day on record that you reached triple digits. give yourselves a round of applause. you made it through and it will only get cooler. redwood city broke a record and down into san jose once again, it is the seventh day in a row that you have broken a high temperature record for the month of october. it is extreme. luckily it will not last much longer. it will only get cooler and cooler from here. i will break down those details and when he will finally feel the relief, coming up. the blue angels flying over oakland as fleet week returns to the bay area, kicking off

welcome back. the heat was no match for this crowd in san francisco. people came prepared to keep cool and listen to live music. it is a music festival that brings thousands of people to golden gate park . it has included punk, blues and hip-hop over the years in addition to -- >> 70 4x over three days and six stages. there is nothing quite like it anywhere in the country. >> in san jose the heat didn't stop people from attending the little italy fest. several vendors had tents set up to keep cool. there were pizzas and barbecue and wine testing. several luxury cars and motorcycles. they were also on display at the festival in san

jose. >> when i was coming to work on a hot day don't expect a hot night but there was stratus in serous and stradivarius clouds. >> keep those names coming. >> you don't want to mess with mother nature. that is all because of the high pressure trapping in the clouds in the heat. that high pressure is quickly departing. we will see cooler weather on the way. we might have to wait a day. right now we are still feeling pretty warm. temperatures right now , in the 70s . inland 80 . the biggest issue is the 70s are persisting from inland to the coast. even san francisco in the upper 70s. there is not much relief. relief is on the

way. i want to take a look at that big picture pattern. it is interesting to see the cold front that will bring the cooler air. we have been seeing high pressure sitting over head for the past week or so. you can see that again. the clouds trapped underneath. at the clouds will begin making their way further east. take a look. i the time we step out on tuesday, the high pressure and clouds, making their way over the four corners. it is not super visible by looking at the clouds but a lot more if we look at temperatures. let's put those temperatures on. much cooler weather is on the way. high pressure brought us heat and will continue tomorrow. than the areas in green and blue begin to cpm and had further and further south. look at that cooler air making its

way and along with that onshore lowe. we are looking at a lot more fog as well. all things that are good news when it comes to keeping temperatures cool. let's get a closer look at the bay area. tomorrow afternoon, it will be warm. high temperatures in the upper 90s for inland. we might reach triple digits in some areas. san jose, you will no longer reach triple digits high temperatures. the coastal communities will be 10 or 20 degrees cooler compared to today. coastal communities will feel that cooler air a lot quicker and sooner than inland. by the time we step into tuesday, look what is going to happen. it is very fun and interesting. temperatures getting cooler. like i showed you, the green and yellow begin seeping in toward the bay area and what goes along with green and yellow and cooler temperatures are the clouds.

not much over the next 24 hours but by tuesday we begin to see the marine layer returning. it directly coincides with where temperatures are. the tuesday afternoon high temperatures will be so much more comfortable. back into the 60s and 70s for the coastal communities in upper 80s and low 90s inland. great news is on the way when it comes to feeling a bit more comfortable and what we should be feeling this time of year. it will still be hot for inland but by the end of the week, it will be so much more comfortable. for the coastal communities it will be a lot cooler and a lot cloudier. enjoy another day of dutiful beach weather. the southeast is trying to recover from hurricane helene. we have an up date from a man volunteering on the front lines. the game day train comes rolling in. if you want

hurricane milton is intensifying in the gulf of mexico. the forecast path is headed across the golf into florida. the latest estimate shows that could become a major hurricane. it could become powerful enough to be very significant yet again with the tampa area and its path. floridians are doing what they have done so many times before. filling sandbags and boarding up windows and stocking up. >> the entire peninsula has the potential to have a major impact from storm surge. how the storm develops in terms of the track , will obviously have a big impact in terms of areas that will get more damage.

>> forecaster same milton could potentially cross florida and head into the atlantic which would spare georgia and the carolinas from anything like the catastrophic impact that helene delivered as they come along with tennessee and virginia continue to dig out of destruction. the death toll continues to rise as crews try to make it to remote areas. the death toll is at least 227. the red cross to -- deployed hundreds of workers to the southeast to help with that effort . john mcmanus there. he is a damage assessment manager in charge of sending teams out every day to serve and identify damage across 60 counties. >> there are some areas that are not accessible and we have people missing. i do it because it is the humanitarian thing. people appreciate what we do and they show that appreciation. it is what makes

card or. since 2023 , they have seen all of these businesses close. there is a new place hoping to buck the trend. >> reporter: for any other city or area of the opening of the pizza place would not make the news. there has been a mass exodus of businesses. for someone to take that risk , a lot of people are shocked. this roundtable pizza opened about a month ago in the shopping plaza . the same plaza that saw the recent departure of starbucks and in and out. much of the plaza is fenced off to prevent sideshows and illegal activity. raising canes shut down its dining room to prevent car break-ins and robberies. it is now drive-through only. the franchise owner of roundtable pizza admits it was not an easy choice.
