the california airport where you can really chill out. ♪. from kpix, this is the late news with sara donchey on cbs news bay area. hi, i'm sara donchey. it is hard enough for businesses to deal with break ins. as we reported here, sometimes that happens at the same spot over and over again. very frustrating. now, local business owners are finding out the hard way that some thieves are using much more destructive tactics than smashing a window or kicking down a door. over the past 48 hours we seen suspects ramming cars into the store fronts of multiple businesses across the bay area. one of them a sneaker store in daly city. even though the thieves did not get inside to steal anything the owner is stuck with thousands of dollars in damage. dennis, who owns locker sf on mission street gave us this surveillance video from early monday morning. one of the cars reportedly slammed

rule it out. a better chance of heavier, steadier rain, moving in late friday, continuing friday night, maybe even into early saturday. for the moment, all we have out there is high cloud cover. that has not really been efficient at holding the warmth to the ground. clear skies over head right now. not even a hint of fog. the temperatures have been in free fall since the sun went down. 46 degrees already in santa rosa. 49 in livermore. otherwise temperatures running in the middle to lower 50s. we will continue to drop with that vail of high clouds over head. not efficient holding the warmth through the ground. holding all of the way into the 40s through most of the bay area with some of the coolest spots the usual locations, always more effective at collecting some of the cold dense air dropping around to 40 degrees. even down into the upper 30s. now, the cloud cover will thicken heading through the day tomorrow and the first arrival of the clouds will be the north bay. only in the

middle 60s there. east of the oakland hills, a couple degrees warmer. taking longer for the clouds to fet there. the longest to get the clouds to arrive. a better chance of warming up to 70 degrees. the upshot is, 60s area wide. 3-6 degrees below what is normal for this time of the year. the temperatures are only part of the story. we will see the clouds yielding a chance of showers. not until the sun goes down tomorrow evening. this is the radar simulation through 8:00 in the evening. start to see the showers moving into the north bay within 90 minutes after the sun goes down. starting to move into sonoma and marine counties. winding the clock. that is when we see a better chance of rain and golden gate. showers this time tomorrow in san francisco, oakland, the rain continuing to push farther and farther south. winding the clock to 2:00 a.m. light to occasional showers. the amounts will be modest out of the first rain event. 1/10th

of an inch of rain. the last simulation takes us through 8:00 on thursday morning and the showers are gone. mostly going to be an overnight event. we have another rain chance heading our way heading into friday and friday night, adding them both together. and seeing half an inch for san jose and rain shadow spots. the best case, the west case for us. some spots around san francisco and oakland with one inch rainfall. the weather prediction estimate is a little optimistic. even if you cut the numbers in half it would be a good wetting rainfall that is exactly what we need. after the system that moves through friday night and early saturday moves out we will see off shore winds kicking in. that would lead to an elevated fire threat but we should be able to avoid that because of the influence of the rain kind of giving moisture to the dry fire fuels around the bay area. the temperatures warm up after we
