>> all right, you don't need us to tell you that anxiety is high. both sides feel like there is a lot on the line tomorrow. law enforcement across the country is also on high alert. the philadelphia district attorney had a very interesting way of putting it. when asked about what would happen if anyone tried to interfere with the election there. >> and anybody who thinks it is time to play militia, f around and find out. you're going to try to erase votes or try any of the nonsense, f around and find out. >> more than 7.6 million people cast their votes here in california either in person or by mail. but tonight in the bay, some campaigns are not leaving anything up to chance. they are working right up to the last minute to reach people who haven't voted yet. kelsi thorud tagged along with groups canvassing in san francisco tonight.

>> yes, on k. >> reporter: as the sun set on the final night before election day, jay liu and several other canvassers were still going strong on the corner of market and castro, using every last second to talk to as many voters as possible. >> we've been at all the farmers' markets around the city. just talking to a lot of san franciscans, encouraging them to vote. >> reporter: jane is the field organizer for the yes on k campaign. supporters for proposition k, which looks to close down the upper great highway to cars and turn it into a park. prop k is expected to be a close call. much like dozens of others around the bay, jane says they have been campaigning for months. now with election day on the horizon, they hope they've done enough. >> a little bit of a relief that it will be over soon. and

also a little bit of fear of did we do enough? >> reporter: and they kept campaigning until the last second, and she's not alone. canvassers from several other campaigns were also on her same corner, including sarah katz. >> and we just want to make sure at least there are some name recognition out there. >> reporter: prop l looks to tax rideshare platforms, and to fund public transportation. sara says canvassers were fanned out across the city for one final campaign push. >> across the campaign, we would have a dozen folks out there. gastral getting our campaign up. >> reporter: she says they'll be out canvassing on election day right up until the polls

close. even their campaign's mascot, will be out there trying to get the vote out too. >> it really captures a lot of people's attentions. it will make it feel less awkward when you're canvassing because people are excited to talk to you or to take a picture with snowy. it's been a big help. >> reporter: across the bay, supporters of former president trump waved flags, making their voice heard in pleasanton. some group members tell us they're feeling confident just hours before polls open. >> with we come out and do this, let people know they're supporting the political situation. and hopefully it has an impact. it is fun too. >> and a live look at san francisco city hall lit up in red, white, blue. mayor london breed is fighting to hold on to her seat in a race against four major opponents. one of them

was just hit with the ethics fine. and he was accused of violating campaign contribution limits. according to the complaint, money from the prop d campaign was used to support farrell's bid for mayor instead. and that measure would slash dozens of city commissions it in san francisco. and now in his statement to kpix, farrell says the settlement was over an accounting error, and he's taking full ownership of the issue. when it comes to state ballot measure, prop 36 is getting a lot of attention. it makes it easier to charge people for felony crimes and send them to prison if they repeatedly shoplifted. vice president who started out as a prosecutor would not say how she voted on the measure. >> i'm not going to talk about the vote on that. i don't intend to create an endorsement one way or another around it, but i did vote. >> and the harris campaign is setting up for their watch party at the vice president's alma mater, howard university. the historically black school

is less than two miles from the white house. our kenny choi is in washington, d.c. with more. >> reporter: leading up to election day, hughes has been leading campus drives to get students to vote. knowing grassroots efforts can impact what happens on tuesday. >> and a night that some people could not imagine, but we have been trying to imagine for years. >> reporter: the 20-year-old is voting for the first time in west philadelphia and virginia, knocking on doors with his fraternity brothers. born and raised in oakland, the junior talks about his ancestors not long ago being denied the right to vote. >> i'm doing this for them. i'm doing it for the people who fought for my rights as an african american man to be able to vote. >> reporter: crews are setting up the election night watch party. harris is the first black colleges and universities

graduate to hold the vice president. >> and it is really symbolic to have it here. this was kamala's home at one point for a time. >> reporter: students like cassidy owens are attending classes online. hoping to catch a glimpse of the vice president and for glass ceilings to be shattered. >> it will show we're looking for a change in america, which we do need. we need a leader. we need someone who is going to help us. if all americans could come together, it will show how much of a strong community and country we are. >> reporter: collins and hughes both say harris represents not only them, but also the entire country. equality and respect for all. >> this is the change that dr. king, malcolm x, and many of the likes, fred hansen, this is what they were talking about. i

can't wait to see it. stay with us for more report from kenny who is in washington, d.c. he'll be at that watch party tomorrow night at howard university for our election night coverage. two polling places back here in the bay area pg&e says they might shut off power to customers over the next few days to lessen the risk of wildfires. it could include the visitor center in lake county and lakeside elementary in los gatos. both of those are scheduled to be polling places tomorrow. the first outages could happen tomorrow evening. solano and napa counties, expected to be impacted the most. and also on the list, parts of alameda, santa crew yeah, and if that happens, then it will depend on what the forecast will be. >> yeah, the winds will be picking up tomorrow. the fire danger will be climbing and climbing with a red flag warning that goes into effect

tomorrow morning. the immediate coastline of the north bay. we'll see the gusty offshore winds that are overlapping with very low humidity levels. maybe not quite as low as the last red flag warning that we would have back in october. but still low enough that the fire threat is going to be significant. and the winds are really going to pick up as we head through tomorrow and especially tomorrow night. and every six hours, the wind gust forecast from futurecast will show the strongest winds developing late tomorrow night into early wednesday morning. that's when 25 to 30 miles an hour gusts will be widespread even at sea level. there will be gusts over 50 miles an hour. that'll lead to the fire threat that will be climbing. combining all the different factors that we look at. the dryness, the fire fuels, relative humidity levels, and we just rank it from 0 to 10. as that red flag warning goes into effect tomorrow, the numbers will be sky high immediately, about halfway up that 0 to 10 scale

tomorrow afternoon. then climbing further overnight because the humidity is not going to increase too much. we'll see the sevennings. plenty of those orange and red spots, but there will be a particular concern, and this threat will continue for most of wednesday. finally late thursday and early wednesday is when they will start to creep back down closer to where we would go above it. a look at those humidity levels, and talk about a chance of showers farther down the line in a few minutes. >> all right, paul, thank you. the coast guard was dealing with a deadly accident when tragedy struck again. and prosecutors say a key piece of video evidence shows a guilty man reenacting the crime. but the defense says that's a fantasy. we're back in the courtroom with the bob lee murder trial ahead. and they have to tell them it's not a joke. her unusual connection to vice president harris.

tonight, five people are still missing and two are dead after two unrelated boating accidents off the sonoma coast. the sheriff's department is trying to warning people the surf has been incredibly dangerous. >> the waves are very large, and the water is really rough. we are advising extreme caution to people who might want to go out onto the water, especially

in smaller vessels, especially if you're not particularly experienced. >> this morning, a 20-foot boat sank near the muscle point, where they found one man, but they did not survive. they're still looking for the other missing boater. the coast guard was very close because they were already dealing with the aftermath of saturday's deadly accident. and the update, another boat capsized when six people went out crabbing. crews rescued an 11-year-old boy yesterday and recovered a teenager's body. the victim and most wed. and four people with still missing from that accident tonight. all right, a reminder that the water can be very, very dangerous. i know we've been talking about fire threat, but that's an important note. >> there's a beach hazard that just expired this evening. there is something that was in the marine forecast for the national weather service as well. now our focus will shift to the wildfire threat with the offshore winds going tomorrow. we'll talk about the big setup. a couple of storm

systems dropping down to the east of us are representing a lack of atmosphere over that part of the country, while there is a big hill of air out in the pacific. the air gets funneled down from north to south. it's the direction traveling over land and then down slow, drying it out. so we're talking about gusty conditions and the low humidity levels. really ramping up by tomorrow night into wednesday, especially. let's take a look at that red flag warning in until it fizzes out. the winds will start to pick up tomorrow night, likely to get those 50 plus miles an hour gusts especially in the north bay. we'll be seeing humidity staying around 25 to 35%, even in the early hours of monday morning. that will not be the case tomorrow night and i get the first half of the day on wednesday. the good news, we have a chance for showers to head our way, but it's not

going to be until the later end of the seven-day forecast. sunday night into monday. we're looking at a 40% to 50% chance of at least some rain showers. it's far from a guaranteed. at this point, we'll take whatever we could get to add more moisture to the fire fuels. right now looking outside towards downtown. things are looking good, fog free. another typical association with the offshore winds. temperatures have backed down into the 50s, and then we'll continue to retreat down into the 40s by early tomorrow morning with clear skies overhead before the winds will pick up and start to stir the atmosphere up. here is the good news. it will not be all that warm for this time of the year. at least we won't have extreme heat to go along with our offshore winds and low humidity levels. temperatures are running about 2 to 4 degrees above normal. mostly into the low to mid-70s for inland parts of the bay area including 73 in san jose. mid-70s east of the oakland hills. even the warmest spots will stay below 80 degrees. the lack of extreme temperatures to go along with the extreme wind and humidity. that'll help us out a little

bit. temperatures in the north bay, getting up into the low to mid-70s by tomorrow afternoon. this is really about where we are going to hover through the duration of the seven-day forecast. until we get into early next week when the rain chance will arrive. let's take a look at the inland parts of the bay area where the temperatures will run in the low to mid-70s through the weekend. and then a drop by early next week with the rain chance moving in, pushing the inland temperatures down into the mid-60s for veterans day next monday. temperatures around the bay, they are also going to run pretty steady through the rest of the week. a little bit of the cool down on bayside, more of a cool down on monday. a similar trend along the coast with the highs in the low to mid-50s above friday. only in the upper 50s on the chilly side by next monday. >> all right, paul, thank you so much. we appreciate that update. the trial picked back up today in the case of a man accused of stabbing cash app founder, bob lee, to death. lee was killed in san francisco in april of last year. today in

court, jurors got a look at a hotly contested piece of video evidence. but it turns out it might not have as big of an impact prosecutors thought it would. our lauren toms has been following the case, bringing us the latest. >> there are pivotal videos prosecutors suggested could be the smoking gun in this case, shown in court today. it shows momeni reenacting the stabbing. but once the jury was finally able to see it, it seemed to pose more questions than answers. highly anticipated and highly disputed videos that showed guilty in nima momeni and was played in court on monday. reenacting the stabbing of bob lee. the video was taken outside the law offices of momeni's former attorney, and shows him talking with a

private investigator. he makes three stabbing motions before making an overhand throwing gesture. the video that was a part of sfpd's surveillance of momeni before his arrest was repeatedly disputed by the defense who claimed it violates attorney, client privilege. but his right arm is partially obstructed by a light pole. defense attorney, bradford cohen said the video had less of an impact than prosecutors had suggested. >> and what they said they were going to show and what they actually did show. i think they are stark differences between the two. >> reporter: the jury was also shown photos of bob lee, taken the day after his death by a medical examiner who performed his autopsy. he was pictured lying on the metal table.

clearly visible as stitches pieced him back together. an assistant medical examiner testified that each of lee's three stab wounds were about one inch wide and three to five inches deep. pictures, attorney shannon duggan said was seared into the eyes of the jury. >> every time the picture is put up of this young man with his chest stitched back together, knowing that he will never take another breath. that's so sobering for the jury. it really brings home what the case is all about, which is the death of a human being. >> and inside the courtroom, bob lee and his former wife, krista, was present to see those graphic autopsy photos. she was seen clutching the hand of her partner as she listened to testimony by that medical examiner as to the size and severity of those stab wounds. one of which punctured straight through bob lee's heart. we'll be back in court tomorrow for more testimony. sara?
