office. though it isn't a concession exactly. mayor sheng thao released a statement thanking oaklanders choosing her as mayor, saying it was her goal to make oakland safer, cleaner, more vibrant. she also wrote, "i'm proud of what we have accomplished together." what she did not say, she did not acknowledge the recall results, but did mention for a smooth transition. over 63% are supporting the recalled mayor sheng thao. >> i solemnly swear thatly support. thao is being ousted. and when the recall is certified next month, nikki will take over as intro mayor until a special election next year. according to the latest voting numbers. it looks like pamela price is also on her way

out. 65% of voters have opted to recall her. the board of supervisors have to appoint a position for next year. and the associated press says simon has won the district 12 u.s. house race to replace barbara lee. lee passed simon a baton on the night of the primary. across the bay in san francisco, a year's long battle overturning oceanside highway into a beach side park more than 54% of voters support closing the upper great highway. it all started in 2020 when the city closed a stretch of the highway temporarily to give more sense. but the issue divided people into two kind of camps with a lot of people who live around the beach saying it

the air from the devastation left behind by the mountain fire in socal. take a look at all of that. the flames raced up the hillsides of ventura county, leveling 130 homes, damaging about 90 others. that's just since wednesday. danya bacchus has the story of people who had minutes to take what they could go and run. >> we watched it burn on tv. it's like a war zone. >> reporter: the flames took out structures as of monday morning. >> i understand when people said i only had the clothes on my back. that's the last thing you're thinking of when you're running around, trying to collect valuables, memories, that kind of thing. >> i looked out the window at 10:30 and the flames were 100 feet away. >> reporter: some reliving the terror as they felt the flames approach. >> we didn't get any kinds of warnings. right away, we had to

evacuate. i lost everything. every single piece of document, everything. my hundred, everything. >> reporter: in the process of determining how many homes and buildings were impacted. some 3,500 structures are still at risk. almost 2,500 firefighters are battling the blaze from the air and ground. crews are hoping to get the upper hand today now that the santa ana winds have died down. >> we have miles and miles of lines to put in and areas to cool down to make it safe, so the fire stays small. we also want to get people back home. >> reporter: california's governor has declared a state of emergency as hundreds of families worry and wonder about their next steps after losing everything. >> that is so hard to watch. we were talking about how we could relate to that. but we have to count our blessings here. >> the immediate bay area, we had a pretty tame fire season

to this point. it's not technically over with some showers on monday should help put a lid open b that too. how things are going to evolve throughout the weekend. we'll see more clouds. back to back storm systems are going to be heading in our direction. and so it will send some clouds in the sky over the bay area, but no moisture. the second one has a better chance of sending more showers into the bay area on monday. we'll start the clock at 5:00 p.m. on sunday. an increase in cloud cover through much of the day. but just a little blibs. and the main event begins to move into the north baby late morning and monday. keep in mind, this is one version. and as we head through the weekend, could speed up, slow down, increase or decrease in intensity. this is the best estimate for now. showing a band of rain moving

quickly across the bay area. moderate downpour, no threat of any kind of flooding risk when the ground is so dry. but we are going to have likely an that rain moving out. a quarter inch and a widespread basis around that .10 mark and the rain shadowed marks close to or in excess of .33 in the santa cruz mountains and the favorite spots in the north baby the time all is said and done on monday evening. we're not done with the rain chances. they're not as significant. by thursday and friday, it looks like some light off and on rain showers. keeps us in an unsettled pattern for the next couple of weeks, leading up to thanksgiving. temperatures right now, dropping off. down to 42 degrees in santa rosa. otherwise still hovering in the low to mid-50s. those numbers in the north bay valleys will drop down into the upper 30s by

early tomorrow morning. then we warm back up. the north bay will climb into the upper 60s, which is exactly normal for the month of november. other inland spots will still be two, three degrees above average. mostly in the 70s. a few spots down the peninsula getting to or around 70 degrees. only a degree or two above 60 right along the coast. the breeze will be back and that will keep things cool. temperatures in the north bay valleys, also making it up into the low 70s by tomorrow afternoon. and then cooler weather to accompany that good chance for rain on monday. light showers return by thursday and friday of this week. temperatures are running pretty close to normal even though the damp weather pattern returns next week. around the bay, just consistently running into the 60s for the next few days and along the coast. the coolest days, monday with a chance for rain and rain on
