out just yet. there is more rain on the way. and most of the bay area coastline is under a surf advisory right now. we would see some big waves as high as 16 feet. and the king tides could make an appearance as early as tomorrow. this is how they have looked over the past few years . >> so what is the most important thing you want us to know? >> it is finally almost the weekend. but all of this is kind of normal. you have to be careful where you walk. and it gets chilly. that is normal. it is only a real issue if you were a plant. and the growing season is essentially over across the bay area already. we are tracking a few leftover showers but they are all remaining politely offshore. a couple of leftover sprinkles will be possible in the santa

cruz mountains. just barely over a quarter rain here. under a 10th of an inch for oakland. pacifica. santa clara. barely mar than a trace in san francisco. what we are done with in the measurable rainfall, sierra not done with the measurable snowfall. winter weather advisory continues there until 10:00 friday. they are still going to be challenging throughout the day tomorrow. not a lot of additional snow. but enough to make the roads slick. so if you are headed up in that direction to try to take advantage of some of the early season powder, i would wait until saturday morning to hit the road. with homeownership and even rental prices out of reach for a lot of people, we have seen people in neighborhoods across the bay area moving into rvs ,

moving into oversized vehicles to give them some place to stay. but in san jose, encampments are a source of growing frustration. tonight, the mayor told us the city is taking stock of hundreds of oversized vehicles. parked around san jose. before taking the next steps to crack down. >> people in our residential neighborhoods and running small businesses should not have to deal with permanent encampments with trash, fires, noise, and other challenges for months and years on end. in some cases we have to clear and tow areas and prevent reincampment. in other areas we need to enforce basic rules around sanitation. my goal is to get everybody off the streets but in the meantime, we have to do a much better job of managing encampments and reducing the impacting on neighbors. >> so the mayor's plan is getting some mixed reviewsment some people are worried about where they will park. where

they will live. others say it is about time the city took action on this issue. tonight, one man who lives in his rv told our andrea nakano he is simply trying to survive. >> reporter: danny has found a peaceful neighborhood in san jose to call home. ideally, he would like a private lot to park on but that comes with a price tag he can't afford. >> it's impossible. we can try to get on section 8. it's me and my wife. but i think they were taken you know. i have never taken welfare. >> reporter: so he lives in this rv moving from spot to spot trying to be invisible. >> i do run the generator but it's quiet and i move it all the time. >> reporter: the mayor's efforts to monitor and enforce parking rules will focus on areas impacted by rvs . they

line the streets creating safety concerns and become overwhelmed with trash. danny says he is always sure to be a good neighbor. >> i don't leave a mess. a lot of people live in trailers and they think they own the street. you know? they leave it there all the time. you know. they leave a mess. stuff all around it. >> reporter: aj ball has seen the rv community sprout up in his neighborhood. he has noticed some issues and not only worries about his safety, but for those on the streets. >> there are so many things, people are livering behind the trailers if that is another concern for me. you don't know who is living behind the trailer and how long. >> reporter: the city says it is working to expand its safe parking sites but it is also working to provide an alternative to living on the streets. danny, though, loves his rv and he can't imagine being packed in a lot with dozens of other people. >> that kind of scares me.

because that brings on it's own thing. i would rather have it out here by itself on the street than somewhere where it might have crime and things might happen to it. it is hard to think of anything more san francisco than a cable car ride through the city. >> my cousins said if you are going to san francisco, you have to visit and you specifically have to sit in the tram to enjoy the ride. it is historical. >> it is popular with the tourists but now some iconic cable car lines are at risk of not running at all. it's not just that. muni and light rail are also in jeopardy. the tax has failed and now the city's transit director is sounding the alarm about a budget crisis that could leave muni with a deficit topping $300 million. >> it is the equivalent of eliminating over half of the

system. we are looking at even more painful losses like trimming back the cable car system or the ty line. these are very expensive to operate but at the core of our city's identity including bringing back a strong visitor economy. >> now the sfmta has to drop different ways to cut, save, add revenue, in january, they are expected to present a few different options to city leaders and the agency tells us they are considering a 2026 ballot measure to raise funds. >> it is unlikely that the federal government is going to come to our rescue again. police in berkeley arrested two dozen people in a retail theft crack down there. officers recovered $4,000 worth of stolen items. everything from shampoo, air freshener, socks, and boxes of condoms. they were stolen from two

different target stores and a walgreens. the man accused of killing bob lee took the stand. at times momeni became confrontational, questioning how police handled the investigation. our lauren tom was in the courtroom and has details. >> reporter: many holes still left in this story, sara as momeni faced another day of intense questioning getting heated in the courtroom. but after hours and hours of this testimony, the one thing all parties can agree on is that no one's story adds up. >> if any normal responsible person had the events happen to them in the way that nima has laid out, the reactions would

have been completely different. >> reporter: bob lee's brother fighting back at momeni's testimony as he maintains he acted in fear for his life when he said he attempted to thwart an attack from lee after making a bad joke. momeni conflicting his own statements about his knowledge or lack there of about lee's family and why he continued to pursue legal action against a man that he knew had already died. >> this arrogant entitled person is just trying to make his deplorable actions and his actions, into something that will keep him out of prison. >> reporter: prosecutors zeroing in on his actions after the stabbing. momeni said he told his sister not to let bob back into her apartment. he said he didn't know bob had died until the next day. he also said he didn't know he

was linked to the murder until the day of his arrest nine days after the stabbing. even suggesting to prosecutors that it could have been done by anyone else walking in the dimly lit street at 2:30 in the morning. >> he had a story, he was sticking to it. and that part was good. he did not contradict himself. but as the da pointed out, it didn't make sense that he stabbed somebody. didn't realize that the person had been stabbed or fatally injured and then left the scene. >> reporter: he told the jury he thought bob was fine after the violent altercation. walking away on his phone. bob is seen on surveillance footage collapsing minutes later. neither side has shown evidence of bob being aggressive or that momeni had motive to attack the man he said he was becoming friends with. >> it will be up to the jury to

starting tomorrow, the downtown ice rink will be opening up in the circle of palm's plaza. and, with lots of fresh snow in the sierra, ski resorts are racing to get ready for the upcoming season. brady halblieb shows us the places about to open. >> reporter: a snow covered olympic valley showing us ski season is around the corner. >> it is snowing on me. i don't know if you can see it on my hair, but it is coming down. >> reporter: several storm systems over the past few weeks bringing in wet and heavy snow creating ideal conditions for a solid base layer. >> it will be coming down for tomorrow night. we could see up to six inches. >> reporter: palisades spokesperson says the resort expanded its snow cannon operation. and added more snow cats to its fleet. to put snow where it needs to be to speed up the process. so far, the preski season is off to a great start. >> last year it was all manmade snow. and you know, we had the temps but we just didn't have

often. so i assume that is not in the forecast. >> no. we had a close call a couple of years ago when the snow levels dropped to 750 feet or so. we'll see if we can get through the winter without any of that nonsense. >> he doesn't need more work. >> interesting means bad stuff for everybody else. over land, nothing. offshore, a couple of showers but they are falling apart as they try to approach the coastline. the forecast models are enthusiastic about holding that rain together and putting it in the santa cruz mountains but you will most likely get just sprinkles that will be quieting down tomorrow morning. this is the forecast animation. maybe a couple of little popup showers. a 10% chance of that tomorrow. during the first half of the day. would not count on it. we are not done with the rain chances

just yet. let's look at a different forecast model. we are going to look at that next shower chance coming our way on sunday. we will get to the first half of the weekend dry and clouds thicken saturday night. but the first showers will not hit the coast of the north bay until mid to late morning sunday and it will be very light activity. shower chances ramp up by late afternoon. the bulk of the activity will happen between 4:00 and 10:00 on sunday. it will be another quick hitting system. that doesn't have access to a whole lot of moisture. so amounts will be very modest. it will send some more snow into the sierra. so might get another winter weather advisory up there. something to keep in mind if you head up saturday morning to try to take advantage of the early season powder. maybe will have a little harder time going back. but we are drying out already on monday. and then this next stretch of dry weather might last a little while. limited amounts of additional moisture. talking about the potential for a few hundredths of an inch of total

rain. we really over achieve, a couple of spots may pix up more. once we get past this chance sunday night into monday, we will be drying out for the rest of next week. unless there is a hint that maybe a shower chance will head our way thursday night into friday. that is still very up in the air. we'll keep an eye on that as we head through the next several days. let's talk about tomorrow's high temperatures. we don't have to spend too long on it. because everybody is going to be in the low half of the 60s except right along the coast. that's where you are going to be in the 50s . but everybody else pretty much between 60 and 63 degrees. and even if you widen things out to the entire range of temperatures, 57 in pacifica is the cool spot. 63 in fairfield is the warm spot. only a 6-degree difference across the entire bay area. so we don't have to show you the whole range of seven day forecast. we can just round things off to one general forecast for the bay area including temperatures in the
