young woman continues to demand answers inside after she was found dead inside of a jail cell. a patient has been tested positive for a severe strain of m pox. the issue of a trains player in sports is heading to the courtroom as a volleyball player is serving a lawsuit against her coach. a terrifying crash on a sacramento freeway. we hear from the witness that caught it all on her dash camera. we begin tonight with a change in the weather. we will get right to meteorologist darren. >> there is two opportunities for rain in this forecast. the bigger one is next week but the more important one is coming tomorrow as it is happening on the weekend. not a lot here but i want to make sure you are

young woman's family continues to demand answers about how she died in custody on september 3. 22-year-old hadley was found unresponsive in the san francisco county jail. we spoke to her aunt and mother at a candlelight vigil where they continue to call for justice. >> reporter: it has been just over two months since hadley died inside of this jail with her birthday and thanksgiving coming up, her family and friends wanted to remember her and send a message to city leaders that they want answers. >> i am trying to pick up the pieces but there are no pieces to pick up. >> reporter: that is how she described trying to grieve the loss of her 22-year-old niece. her niece spent two years in a san francisco county jail cell awaiting trial. on september 3 she died in custody. >> just getting a call and

saying she is unresponsive, we have no clue. she was a bright, fun and goofy person. she was very helpful, kind and generous. giving. her life was cut so short so fast. >> reporter: she was in jail charged with several felonies in connection to a series of armed robberies. her aunt says she had no previous offenses and does not understand why she was awaiting trial so long. >> trying to understand why the bell was taken off the table. >> in a previous statement the district attorney said she was detained pretrial because she posed a safety risk. her family advocated for her to be moved to a mental health facility because of mental health

challenges but in the same statement the da said it was not warranted in this case. her mother still struggles to face the reality of the situation. >> i do not want to be out here. >> reporter: for her every day is a challenge now that her daughter is gone. >> not good at all. i got out of bed today at 2:00. i have not been to work since the day after. i try to stay busy. >> reporter: she says not knowing what happened makes it harder. the department of accountability, the medical examiner's and sheriff's office are investigating but the family says they have not received any details about what happened. still they are supporting one another through it. >> every day is a heartbreak wondering in trying to figure it out. >> reporter: the family plans to continue to fight for justice and they say they are already considering a second

autopsy. >> cbs news bay area contacted the san francisco police, the medical examiner's office and sheriff's office for a update on the case but we have not heard back. today san francisco joint cities across the nation to mark the fifth year since the 2019 antigovernment uprising in iran. early goers held up signs remembering the 1500 killed by the regime. they say they want to draw attention to human rights abuses in tehran. >> silence is not a option, it is time for the international community led by the u.s. to condemn the executions in iran and recognize the right of the iranian people for the the determination of their own faith. >> reporter: the uprising began after a young woman was killed for wearing the country's

morality police deemed inappropriate clothing. organizers say things have gotten worse in the region especially since the start of the israeli war. >> it has been a challenging season for the san jose state volleyball team, a cocaptain is suing her coach in mountain west conference to prevent a transgender teammate from stepping onto the court. we have both sides of this controversial issue. >> reporter: to top women's volleyball teams in the mountain west conference battling it out, san jose state hosting colorado state on saturday. some in the audience like this mother and daughter attending the game for the first time intrigued by the controversy surrounding a transgender player on the san jose team. >> everything about the physicality of a male is so much different from women that i do not think there is anyway to undo that. >> i definitely think it is unfair. they have a very high

vertical which is already a big difference for the rest of us. >> reporter: the daughter plays competitive team volleyball and they want to see if the transgender player has any physical advantages over her peers. >> a women's volleyball net is eight inches lower than a man's. when you combine the vertical ability of males and the lower net of the women's volleyball court it is quite dangerous and unfair i think. >> that is the main argument in the latest lawsuit. in fact the cocaptain on the san jose state team and several others are suing her own coach. other school officials in the mountain west conference to prevent the transgender teammate from playing in the upcoming conference championship tournament. san jose state declined to comment, they did not allow the media to speak to the coach and players on saturday. they both continue

to play on the court but they have very little interaction outside of game conversations. >> i thought a man walked onto the court to beat up women and that is not the case. >> reporter: she is not associated a previously worked as a coach and athletic director at other colleges. she has been working for years to support transgender student athletes and carol knows the player. >> the players as presses testosterone has less than her teammates, she takes a lot of estrogen and she needs to work out twice as hard as her other teammates. >> reporter: due to safety and privacy concerns we are not naming the player since she has not come out publicly. fellow students came to support her. >> the controversy is sad and demoralizing. we are here as a community to support the team. everybody including the player

involved. >> reporter: the issue has national attention since four teams refused to play against san jose state and it adds to the ongoing debate. this mother says she has a brother and supports the community but for her this is not about inclusion, she says it is about fairness and player safety. >> i can imagine that it could be very dangerous to have a male spiking the ball down at a female. >> reporter: the mountain west conference championship tournament will be played in vegas at the end of the month. it is unclear when a judge will rule on the lawsuit. still ahead at 11 a terrifying crash on a sacramento freeway caught on a dash-cam. we hear from a woman who saw the whole thing happen.

was so shaken up by what she witnessed that she had to call out of work. >> that could have been me. you are not safe even though you are driving in the slow lane. that does not necessarily mean i am safe from the fast drivers. >> no word on the condition of the driver, it is also not know if anybody will be facing charges. you probably noticed the king tides are back and we are seeing coastal flooding. the go to spot, the highway 1 stinson beach offramp just off of 101. it does it every year. cyclists had to bike or walk through all of that water today. surf advisories have been in place throughout the area. weather experts say the tides are showing up and they are showing us what things will be like in the not so distant future. >> when sea levels are a foot higher than they are now which will happen this century, this high tide we are observing today will be the high tide we

we have a quiet tuesday and then by wednesday the next system is out here. there is more to that. it is a much wider scale and it has more rain and a much more direct hit but the aim is a little off. so on wednesday you got what is a moderate atmospheric river going into oregon and the southern edge of it is just now approaching us and that is where it gets tricky. this is the american model. if you have been playing along in the forecast lately we have gone into detail about how there are two primary forecast models. when you look at this range. the american model is one in the european is the other. i want to give us the opportunity to mirror them and show you why the european has perhaps a wetter idea of how this goes for us. what we are looking at is the leading edge of the

system and that is where it comes in on wednesday. we get a little bit of rain on wednesday. on thursday it gets pulled off the coast and comes back in on friday. according to this one, friday is the rainier day of next week but we are still too far to try to go to the bank on this forecast for two reasons. one we are going out an entire week which is too far to be specific . the other one is a difference between the american model down here in the european up here. let's let them battle this out more and get a clearer idea. the take away is that it looks promising for the second half of next week that we will get back into rain. we will refine the details that we as we get closer. i have one more thing to talk about. after the system tomorrow comes through it will pull in colder air behind it. not necessarily all of that cold for tomorrow. it will be like today. these are the morning lows tomorrow. then look at the daytime highs as we go into sunday afternoon and

they are where they were today. tomorrow looks different than today. you will get light rain and it will be a bit breezy. take these numbers and put a wind chill on them, it will fuel cooler because of that. the real set of numbers i want you to see is what happens tuesday morning. this is after the cold air has been pulled into the bay and the storm has passed. clear skies, tuesday morning the temperature drops and look at where you will be in the north bay. some numbers going down into the low 30s. tuesday will be the coldest morning of the season. even if you are not down in the low 30s you can check out the rest of the bay. we will get san jose's number and now we have to say goodbye to it, i have to get to the seven day forecast. we talked about the rain for tomorrow. there is the rainy terrarium there. it looks impressive, it is not. a couple of hundredths of an inch of rain. your the days to watch. that is what we are doing.
