east bay family. the irreplaceable treasure one man thought he'd never get back. from kpix, this is the late news with sara donchey on cbs news bay area. hi, i'm sara donchey. when jurors first sat down in a san francisco courtroom, they were walking into a case that had violence, drug use, high flying the life styles, and the tech culture. momeni is on trial for the murder of cash app founding bob lee. in the six days since deliberations have begun, it's surprised even the defense. the question is when momeni intended to kill lee, and they have to weave through a complicated web of evidence. there's surveillance video, pain staking testimony about forensics, and the bombshell claim from the defense that lee snorted cocaine off the same knife that was

plunged into his chest. and jurors were treated into a courtroom reenactment from momeni himself showing the moments lee was stabbed. lauren toms as the latest on what we're hearing about the jury. >> reporter: jurors rounding out their sixth day of deliberations, still with no unanimous verdict. it's suggesting there could be a split amongst the group. now, we have learned that jurors have asked several questions, including one that surprised defense attorneys. but all of this is happening behind closed doors with no indication of when a verdict may come or what that verdict may be. a juror of 12 are staying on to continue decisions after six long days to

answer. >> reporter: attorney shannon dougan says they have one of the hardest jobs in the case as the weight of their responsibility hangs heavy. >> but when it comes time to evaluate that evidence and make a decision, when they've got a man's life until their hands, or having someone take accountability for taking a man's life like bob lee, that's a huge responsibility, and they may very well be having very different opinions. >> reporter: jurors on thursday seen embracing and sharing stories, but at times visibly torn about their decision, they're all committed to the job. >> they've dedicated a good portion of their year to be away from their families and jobs to do this civil service. hats off to them. it's a tough thing to do. >> reporter: we learned the momeni defense team is planning

to return to their home state of florida later this evening, and if there's a verdict, they plan to appear via zoom. now, jurors are expected to return monday afternoon, which is a slight departure from their routine. but that still doesn't give us an indication of where the jury is in the process. all parties hoping to avoid a mistrial. >> find all the coverage of the trial on our website, kpix.com. the killing of a united health care ceo has a lot of people forming their own theories and ideas about why the gunman may have done it. there's been rampant speculation that he may have been angry with his insurer, but tonight a bombshell from police who say their suspect doesn't seem to have been insured by united health. they believe he went after its ceo because of

1:45 am
during the 49ers game. the first wave, the first of three, is anywhere from a half inch to just over an inch total. not enough to cause a significant flooding threat. the next round looks like it will be more substantial. let's look at futurecast on the floor and zoom through the next couple of days. showers tonight still possible. more miss than hit. then showers mainly along and north of i-80 tomorrow gives way to more widespread and heavier rain tomorrow night into the first half of saturday. that's associated with a low end atmospheric river. and when talking about that much rain in a fairly short amount of time it brings in too much of it. there's a slight risk of excessive rainfall. we don't expect widespread flooding out of this system unless it taps into more moisture which remains a possibility. we have a number of number of watches and warnings in effect. in the yellow that's a

enough for some. >> it's really concerning and quite frankly not acceptable. >> both new jersey state lawmakers and lawmakers on capitol hill are keeping a close eye on things and running out of patience to find answers. >> that's not some, somebody went toest buy and picked up a toy. that's a legitimate aircraft. >> it's a bit embarrassing given the length of time and number of sightings we don't have information. >> she should be shot done if necessary. >> new jersey's governor spoke with the homeland security advisor today about the federal response. he's asking for commercial-sized drones to come with a transponder to be tracked by authorities. we will awit answers on that one. >> okay! rock me to sleep tonight! >> they did say they were insisting there was no threat to

a few showers possible throughout the rest of tonight and tomorrow. the best chance is concentrated north of i-80, but it's possible south of that as well. keep the umbrella and rain jacket on hand just in case. the heaviest rain is going to be approaching by about this time friday evening. this is the first within that middle system, two different waves of heavy rainfall. it's a complicated set up. the first coming through with gusty winds and pushing through quickly before the sun coming up. but it winds up for another punch. the heaviest most intense rainfall we'll see is going to occur around sunrise saturday morning. that is going to correspond with gusty winds in the time frame as well. this is typical of the atmosphere rivers. looking at the estimated peak wind gusts across the area, this is forecast model data so not perfect, but it's a good idea of what to expect. it's showing winds along the coast at
1:58 am
60 miles per hour for half moon bay, 54 miles per hour gusts around napa. we have that high wind watch along the coast. but inland i wouldn't be surprised if the national weather service goes a wind advisory during that time frame. we'll keep you updated. let's return to futurecast and track the rain. the the heaviest rain pushing through the into the midday hours on saturday. the swirl indicates the center of the system passing almost directly overhead. could have a few rumbles of thunder, and then things start to winds down saturday evening. a dry break saturday evening continuing into sunday. so we get a dry half of the weekend. it's going to be on sunday. that's the time frame to get anything outdoors done. in terms of the amount of rain, it's heaviest over the north bay where the flood watch is in effect. three to three inches in some areas, and some could get three to four inches of total rainfall. for the southern half of the bay area, not quite as much, but even the
