of snow. andrew is tracking it all for us tonight and has the latest. >> this is going to be a busy weekend for new england and much of if northeast, we have winter weather advisories, winter storm warnings for albany and boston, massachusetts. we're going to have a combination of snow, sleet, freezing rain. when all is said and done on and sunday, i'm sure the kids will love that. we could get a little ice especially along i-80 in new jersey and new york. that could cause issues on trees and powerlines. we're grooing to keep our eye o that. wednesday to friday of next week, we could be looking at 6 to 12 inches of rain from inland california and los angeles. mudslides, landslides.

this is going to be a big deal as we head into the heart and end of the upcoming week. >> thank you. tonight, elon musk and his team of cost cutters have found a new target. but concerns about their access to other agencies has prompted new legal action. willie james inmann is travel wg the president and joining us from west palm beach. >> reporter: president trump's plans to cut spending hit a roadblock as the commander in chief unleashes a flurry of executive actions. this morning, a federal judge hit pause on the department of government efficiency's access to a critical treasury repayment system that contains sensitive personal data for millions of americans. new york attorney general james leads a coalition of 19 states suing the trump administration saying it violated federal laws.

overstate the sigh of relief. after enduring the unspeakable, an embrace says what words cannot. he was reunited with his brothers and parents. levi and his wife were at the nova music festival. she was killed, he is kidnapped, leaving behind their 2-year-old son. now 3 and a half, he made drawings for his dad's big day. we spoke to orr's brother, michael, one year after his abduction. >> i'll bring him back. i don't know why and how i got the nerve to promise such a thing. >> reporter: today, flying back to israel, orr held up a sign. dad is on his way home. also released, ohad, taking from its kibbutz on october 7th, along with his wife who was

released. and eli, whose wife and children were killed during the terror attack. now a shell of his former self. in israel, there were tears for who survived and what they went through. as hamas paraded the frail hostages on stage, a show of strength for both a foreign and local audience. dozens of palestinian prisoners were also released from israeli jails going home to the west bank in gaza as part of the cease fire agreement. well, israel confirms it's set to begin negotiations for the second phase of this cease fire. the goals include the complete withdrawal of israeli troops from the gaza strip, an end to all hostilities and releasing all remaining hostages into the most ambitious and complicated part of the cease fire so far. >> thank you. now to the cbs money watch

and those soaring egg prices. they have many of you stressed out leading to a rush at stores and even some thefts. you can blame bird flu. in the last month, it's infected nearly 23 million birds. ali baumann is in new york with more on what some are calling a crisis. >> reporter: at least one supermarket in this neighborhood has already run out of eggs today. the rest are running low and across the board, prices for eggs are running high. >> have you ever seen this before? >> reporter: from customers stockpiling cartons at costco to thieves hatching plots the steal them. people are getting desperate. some chains are capping how many eggs customers can buy. this cashier says the store can't keep up with demand. >> just calling constantly. we literally have known. >> they're high. a lot of people are getting hurt by it. >> reporter: in the past week, 100,000 eggs were stolen from

this distribution center in pennsylvania and thieves nabbed over 500 from this cafe in seattle. >> it's not just the price, but it's really hard to get. >> reporter: nationwide, entire flocks of birds have been killed to stop the spread of avian flu, which is almost always fatal for domestic poultry. one person in louisiana died after contracting the flu from infected backyard birds. several strains have been passed to dairy cattle, sickening at least 67 people, but the cdc says the risk to humans is still low. >> there have been a couple of outbreaks on regular farms, but really not much. >> reporter: now that means just like eggs, the packaged, raw chicken you find at your store has been inspected and is free of bird flu, which includes thick chicken wings, the super bowl party favorite. >> speaking of wings, the kansas

city chiefs are looking to make history at super bowl lix. omar is in new orleans to tell us why a threepeat could be costly. omar? >> reporter: there's a lot of terms and nicknames you're going to hear. getting the use the word, threepeat, that's rare. and for one man, it could be very lucrative. if the kansas city chiefs beat the philadelphia eagles on sunday and take home their third super bowl title in a row, one of their biggest winners won't be on the field. pat riley is a coaching legend and owns the term, threepeat. riley legally locked down the term when he was coach of the los angeles lakers.

♪ this week the this week, the white house said its immigration crackdown has resulted in more than 8,000 arrests since president trump's inauguration. consider this. there are more than 4 million children under the age of 18 who live with a parent who does not have legal status. katie weiss has that story tonight. >> reporter: it's 5:30 in the morning just outside new orleans. this group of i.c.e. and dea agents have just pulled over and arrested a man in an operation to detain and deport three different immigrants they say are undocumented and who recently were charged with a variety of crimes. i.c.e. says these ops are a top priority. >> we're working a lot more on our case load now. >> reporter: the new orleans da chief is happy to help.

how often would you say you assist? >> every day. >> reporter: during this operation, agents detained one man charged with rape as well as another who is undocumented who happened to be in the car. >> laid in the back of the car, covered in a blanket. if we encounter other folks as we do this, supervisors make decisions. >> reporter: that worries 25-year-old gracie who asked us to only use her first name for fear of retaliation. originally from honduras, she says she's received no crime. she's received some temporary protections to live and work here while her case is pending. what is it that keeps you up at night? she says she's afraid she'll never see her daughter again. gracie's 3-year-old daughter is a u.s. citizen. her 8-year-old is undocumented. right now, there are more than 10,000 non citizens living here in new orleans and that's according to the 2023 u.s.

census and most of those folks are undocumented. but a new louisiana state law now bans the very policies that make new orleans a sanctuary city. right now, it's the only sanctuary city on the gulf coast. >> take the worst of the worst off the streets. >> reporter: new orleans i.c.e. deputy field officer says they're targeting criminals. >> all the other sheriffs are cooperative. >> reporter: the orleans office declined an interview but the district attorney says they only cooperate in the case of those accused of violent crimes. do you foresee new orleans staying on that trend of continuing to be a sanctuary city? >> i don't think the tolerance level is going to change because of a change in administration. >> reporter: gracie hopes there's no change in being able to keep her family together. still feel like you did the right thing? despite everything, she still
