question-and-answer session with journalists trump issued an ultimatum to hamas. naomi ruchim joins us with more. naomi, good morning. what exactly did the president say? >> reporter: michael, good morning. this is all ahead of king abdullah of jordan's visit today. president trump saying in an interview that palestinians won't be returning to gaza and that he would build a permanent place for them. it comes as the world witnesses just how fragile the cease-fire deal is proving to be with president trump adding he believes it would be appropriate for israel to cancel the agreement if the hostages are not released on his deadline. >> i've had many times -- >> reporter: today president donald trump will host jordan's king abdullah after doubling down on his proposal to take over gaza and permanently relocate millions of palestinians to neighboring countries, including jordan. >> think of it as a real estate development for the future.

it would be a beautiful piece of land. >> would the palestinians have the right to return? >> no money spent -- no, they're wouldn't because they're going to have much better housing. >> reporter: the president has suggested he may cut off aid to countries that refuse to take in more palestinians. all of this comes as president trump has also issued an ultimatum to hamas, demanding the remaining israeli hostages be released. >> they ought to be returned by 12:00 on saturday, and after that i would say all hell is going to break out. >> reporter: the threat followed the terror group's announcement it would delay the next hostage release, accusing israel of violating their cease-fire agreement. israeli officials say their military is now on high alert. the trump administration is also facing mounting legal pressure over elon musk's department of government efficiency's plan to slash government spending.

a federal employees union is suing to block the dismantling of the consumer financial protection bureau. >> this is the beginning of making america rich again. >> reporter: also yesterday, president trump said he is considering more tariffs after signing an executive order placing a 25% tariff on all aluminum and steel imports. and just in this morning, the european union is promising to retaliate against the president's latest round of tariffs saying they will not go unanswered, adding that the taxes will trigger tough countermeasures from the eu. meantime, the families of the israeli hostages who remain in gaza are now left tormented once again after hoping this cease-fire might bring their loved ones back home. seeing the emaciated condition of the three men who returned this weekend was traumatizing for the israeli people who worry further delays will not help the

rest of the hostages. michael. >> all right, naomi ruchim. thank you. the pilot of a private plane owned by mötley crüe singer vince neil was killed when the plane collided on the ground with a parked private jet in arizona. a representative for neil says the singer was not on the plane yesterday when it veered off the runway at scottsdale airport after landing and struck the other plane. officials say it appears the primary landing gear failed on the plane owned by neil. the co-pilot and two passengers were injured. there was one person on board the parked plane. >> one fatality. two immediates, which are critical condition, we transport them to local trauma centers. one delayed and then one known transport, refusal. they were evaluated and refused transportation to a hospital. so a total of five patients. >> neil's plane was arriving from austin, texas. now, much of the nation has already seen its share of snow this winter and another storm is

"the honolulu star" says the hawaii supreme court cleared the way for a $4 billion settlement to proceed in the maui wildfire. the state's highest court ruled insurance companies can't bring their own legal action against those blamed for the fire. seven defendants accused of causing the fire including hawaiian electric agreed to pay the money to settle the claims filed by seven people.
