engine failure. >> and could tea compete with the jolt you get from coffee? 12news at 10:00 starts now. breaking news, one person has died after a car hit a bicycle at 43rd avenue at bethany home. it is not expected to reopen for several hours. the crash is under investigation. after more than a year in the making, today, a park dedi kayla mueller opened to the public in her hometown of prescott. the playground was to honor the life and legacy of mueller, an american aide worker captured in syria in august of 2013 and later killed by isis at the young age of 26. hundreds of people gathered at pioneer park in prescott for the dedication. senator john mccain was one of

back in may. he fought with firefighters and police officers who responded to his pleas for help when he complained of chest pains. this is the first to look at footage of officers of the phoenix police department performing cpr on a man they arrested back in may. despite their effort stein died. evidence includes a medical examiner's report regarding the officer's encounter with a strong shirtless man. the morning of may 31, investigators say stein asked someone to call 911 because of his chest pains. according to incident report, a responding firefighter says he was in a case of extreme paranoia and pacing erratically. as soon as police arrived, he

didi gatton, 12news. >> so, you are not a coffee drinker right? >> no. >> would you do the tea? >> i have. i got rid of all my diet coke. 140 days now. nothing but tea. >> no diet coke? >> well, i had the shakes for a couple of weeks there. but hey, you know who else was having the shakes? a lot of tornadoes. check out this wild weather video. tornadoes captured on video ripping through ohio. one tore a 21 tornadoes touched down around ohio and indiana. the strongest tornado occurred in woodburn, indiana. winds 160 miles an hour. it was 500 yards wide and stayed on the ground more than five-and-a-half miles. the good news is no fatalities were reported. only a few injuries coming out of that big tornado outbreak. but, i want to show you the tornado count so far this year. here's the average number of tornadoes that we should see. and then, you can see right

904 tornadoes. so over 200 tornadoes below average for this time of the year which is very good news. we are now out of the peak of tornado season. but here in the valley, we dealing with monsoon. 2.17 inches out of phoenix sky harbor. 1.96. so we are just under a quarter inch above average and we still have about a month to do here in the season. so we could still see about another inch of rain so far. so, certainly, some good news dealing with, the cooler temperatures. it was 111 on august 16. nothing but a downward trend sense. look at the temperature for today. 97 degrees out there. it actually felt kind of nice if you stepped outside. the other thing? the dew points, they are dropping down as well. we are takeing the storm chances out of the forecast. because we have a lot of dry air working in. for tomorrow morning we could see some locations down into the mid 70s for low

we will warm it up to 100 degrees by the afternoon hours. that is below average for this time of the year. here is what is happening. there is that low pressure center that brought a lot of rain to the high country early this morning. some locations saw two to three inches of rain. unfortunately, it is pushing all the monsoon moisture right into new mexico. that is why here, we have a slight chance of thunderstorms tomorrow. a one in the valley. a six in the white mountains. and a two in southeast arizona. and here is how the pattern is going to shape the east coast. there's the low pressure center that is quickly moving out of here. here is high pressure that will shut down the monsoon pattern for the next couple of days and the temperatures right at about the average this time of year. seven day forecast, temperature around the 103-104-degree mark. guys, we bring that tomorrow chance back into the forecast, thursday, friday, and saturday. >> thanks matt. it is kind of sad 103 is cooling off.
