drama. an armed robbery on thursday night. >> this man just had a gun on the street. >> according to authorities, a responding officer opened fire on one of the suspects when he reached for a gun. police confirm the 13-year-old was shot at the scene and killed, and that weapon authorities recovered was a bb gun, similar to this one, bearing close resemblance to real service weapons used by police. the officer involved w brian mason, a nine-year veteran on the force. he was cleared of wrongdoing in another fatal shooting from 2012. tyree king's death generated immediate comparisons to that of tamir rice, killed by cleveland police while also carrying a toy gun, set off nationwide protests. they have reached out to community leaders urging for calm and patience while the investigation continues.
