four cancer survives and his treatment could save others. >> a dog food warning before you feed fido. >> and a high speed chase and a suspect's brush with death. 12news at 10:00 starts right now. 12news at 10:00 tracking breaking news. take a look in phoenix and the scene of an officer involved shooting. team 12 is at the scene east >> officers opened fire on a suspect. right now, they are not telling us however what led to the situation or the extent of the suspect's injuries. again, authorities are only telling us right now, again, officers fortunately are okay. an officer involved shooting happened near 36th street and thomas. team 12 working to get more details. we will bring them to you as soon as we get them.

tim tebow to the rescue. many tonight calling the former football star a miracle maker comforting a fan who had a seizure. now, tebow is in the valley trying to jump start his baseball career in the arizona fall league. but, his actions off the diamond are melting hearts tonight. >> team 12's trisha hendricks joins us live from scottsdale stadium with those who witnessed this act >> reporter: tim tebow had a great first day of the fall league. but tonight he comforted a fan in distress and it is getting a lot of attention. the game ends in glendale the first day of fall league and tebow's first game. he heads out to join the bus joining a long line of autograph seekers when a fan in his 30s collapsed. >> he reached down, comforted the fan.

in distress having a seizure. as they awaited the paramedics. >> tim would not leave him and i'm pretty sure he said a prayer for him. when it first happened and tim just sat there with him, kept reassuring him. and as he gained consciousness, he was able to respond and then i think the fan realized who it was. and, tim wouldn't leave him. he just kept patting him on the leg. trying to keep him company reporting this video. >> tebow sat there on the railing next to this young man for a good 15 to 20 minutes talking with him and consoling him and asking him if he was okay. and, took off his wristbands and autographed his wristbands and gave them to brandon. it was amazing. i have never seen anything like it in pro sports. at the end of it, he tapped the young man on the leg and said

dress as a clown. more and more of them are accused of committing some serious crimes. from hanging onto the back of a city bus in detroit to standing on a bridge with a bibi gun in new york, creepy clowns are freaking people out across the country and here in the valley with people reporting suspicious sightings to various agencies. >> check out this person's social media. how can we protect our kids against this? >> reporter: officer brandon shepherd police says. >> if he crosses the line, makes any threats. going to school where you can cause disruption. >> reporter: police in michigan say someone dressed as a clown grabbed a boy and cut him with a butter knife. and another committed armed robbery and made threats against violence toward students and schools. >> it is not something to mess around with. there are consequences.

consequences to being arrested. >> reporter: on facebook, there is now a page to track phoenix clown sightings. this one alleged to have been spotted near a school in surprise. >> if there is anybody acting suspiciousings call us, we would rather check it out and have it be nothing. >> reporter: and police also said parents should be checking their kids' social media sites because they want to make sure they are not posting or engaging in any activity that could get them in trouble. reporting live in phoenix, monique griego, 12news at 10:00. >> very disturbing. joe arpaio says the criminal contempt charge against him is the result of a political vendetta. federal prosecutors announced the charge in court today. arpaio is accused of blatantly ignoring an order from a judge

bars, but first, political insider brahm resnik joins us from the news room with what this means for arpaio. brahm? >> reporter: he faces criminal contempt charges and possibly more serious obstruction of justice charges. all this coming as early voting starts tomorrow on the sheriff's bid for a seventh term in office. he calls himself america's toughest sheriff. in days, joe arpaio will be there are criminal contempt charges for ignoring a judge's order to stop racially profiling latinos and a trial on the charges set to start december 6. separately, u.s. department of justice prosecutorsed told bollton they are investigating him for possible instruction of justice. >> he did all of these things in office and has to be held accountable. >> reporter: his deepening legal problems are connected to a finding in august that the sheriff intentionally ignored

immigration patrols. >> he has racially profiled people. >> reporter: he won't have to enter a plea in court. his attorney will enter a not guilty plea for him. brahm resnik, 12news. thank you brahm, the judge had the option to have arpaio arrested and book. he faces a maximum of six months in jail if he is found guilty. a penalty some opponents say would be poetic justice. joe arpaio once famously said this in the show. >> it is amazing what i say, and what i do, and what i get away with. it is amazing. >> reporter: opponents of arpaio now hope that statement proves false. wanting a guilty verdict and jail time for the 84-year-old county sheriff. >> the question is really difficult to determine. >> reporter: valley criminal defense attorney scott halbernon said that would be up to suzanne bolton. >> judge bolton is a strong

>> i started having symptoms in april of 2014. the pancreatic cancer is so hard to diagnosis that it literally took the doctors six weeks to figure out what it was i had. >> reporter: by the time doctors discovered the tumors in phil's body, they had grown so large, it ruled out the possibility of surgical removal. this can mean life for death for anyone with the cancer. >> once it actually starts to become evident and once it is diagnosed, people generally only live about s months after they are diagnosed with it. >> reporter: phil's wife kathy, a medical librarian discovered a treatment with life changing. >> it takes ten to 14 years to have a drug approved by the fda. >> reporter: dr. hen is in charge of the basic research
