guy fieri family food kitchen tested home approved ?? >> that's it. to brine or not to brine nap is the question. if you really want to get the flavor into that bird, and holiday's coming, this is one of my favorite ways to do it, and this is simple. chili flakes, peppercorn, garlic. a little parsley. >> lemon peel. >> thyme, one of the keys. bring this into simmering water. let it go. >> what are we making, guy? >> we're going to brine a turk. wrap it in bacon, roast it off in the oven. >> stop it. >> a brined bird here. >> how long dori >> if it's a full turkey, you can brine this a full turkey up to a day. 24 hours. just the breast and the, with the bone-in, if you just do a few hours you're in good shape. >> what happens to if? >> yeah. >> brining, what happens? >> it's hard to over brine it, but what would happen is it becomes mealy, a little too much

peppers and onions sauteed. farro one of my favorite. >> what is it? >> one of the greatest grains. they say one of the oldest grains. this really fantastic, awesome texture to it. nice chewiness. a little bit like brown rice. >> brown rice. >> yeah. >> sprinkle that in. brussel sprouts, in my house, doing at least twice a week. these brussel sprouts are simple. >> everybody's raving about them already. >> live, people starting to take them out of the kitchen. >> i'm going to have one. >> drop in the brussel sprouts, balsamic vinegar, roast in the pe nice and hot. we put this mixture, simple, garlic, peppers, onions, salt sand pepper to this. after it's brought all together. roasted acorn squash. are you a squash fan? >> yeah. i like squash. >> not at much, but -- >> this will convert you. >> soup. >> i like squash soup, tender, cut them open. drizzle a little olive oil, salt and pepper, roast in the oven's take this mixture.

so while we dangle the carrot, the kid performs for the payout rather than for the love of learning and interest in a subject. the other issue, it's not sustainable. what happens when $5 for an a is no longer motivating? up the ante to $10 or $15? the kid doesn't like math. cost $20 keep to keep them motivated? >> are kids motivated by money? do you work harder thinking you'll get $5 for an a? the motivation has to be appropriate for the child. i agree totally will with amy. what we really want to do, help kids feel good about themselves and learners and if we teach them how to learn and focus on the process rather than the grade, and really give them encouragement for paying attention, for doing things on their own, and teaching them how to do that, they will get this feeling of joy and love of learning, and accomplishment,
