a gun and some type of protective gear on.when officers approached him he had that gun in his hand.he tried to run away.but as officers caught up to him he hid behind multiple barriers at one point using a police unit as a shield.investigators say -- two separate times the man pointed his fun at officers.that's when officers fired their weapons at him to neutralize the threat.no word how many times he was hit or if he actually fired back. four officers each with seven years' experience or more -- pulled the trigger.the suspect was taken to the hospital.he was in surgery earlier this morning and is expected to be ok. as the investigation continuesthe phoenix police department still has not identified this suspect.more updates throughout the morning. live in phoenixnico santos12
