>> facebook and all of the twitter things have had a lot to do with it, but it did start out with a simple little report. >> reporter: so maybe we're all a little guilty. maybe the best thing is to walk away and stop clowning around. 12 news. >> thank you, ryan. right now let's get a look at your hot headlines. the fbi is asking for help tracking down a bank robber. the suspect seen in this surveillance video is accused of holding up the chase bank near tatum beveled and bell road. it happened on toured. the authorities say he should be considered armed and dangerous. a deadly fire is under investigation in phoenix. it broke out this morning at an apartment complex near 19th avenue north of dunlap a woman in her 50s was taken too the hospital in critical condition but later died. the crews were able to stop the fire from spreading to other units. and the state officials are have suspended the contract license for the company

building's roof collapsed. seven workers were hurt, two of them suffered serious injury. the officials are now investigating the company's possible role in what went wrong. with the weekend approaching, flagstaff is gearing up for nau's homecoming and along with that comes the annual tequila sunrise fesstivities. it has been -- festivities have been a part of the community for 10 years. they are preparing to make sure weekend. >> reporter: for students like jake johnson, participating in tequila sunrise is tradition. >> i first learned about it when i turned 21. i'm 23 now so a couple of years back. >> reporter: it is a simple tradition with a simple beginning. >> people would work all night on their homecoming floats, and then in the morning the floats would be done and think'd start celebrating and have -- they'd

metro center said they plan to demolish all or most of the mall itself to make way for a new multiuse complex. >> say it isn't so. the arizona icon opened in 1973 near dunlap. it was the epicenter of holiday shopping, ice skating, movies and so much more for so many years. the news is stirring up nostalgia all over social media. so many of you talking about it on my facebook page. this is why it has meaning to a lot of us. right at the age when i started getting dropped off. the goldwater's department store, the water fountains in the mall, the arcade. i actually worked at the gap clothing store as a teenager. a lot of you say your first job was there as well. here is what else what some of you are saying. i remember the skating rink and going there to buy guess jeans with zippers at the ankles. those were the days, says tina. >> working at the broadway,

over yet for people in north carolina. the storm dumped a foot over rain in some parts leaving entire neighborhoods under water and this weekend more towns could fall victim to the devastating floods as all of that water moves down river. >> this isn't the first time some of these towns have had to rebuild. >> reporter: it is a slow motion disaster in the carolinas. some of the rivers swollen by 17 inches of hurricane matthew's rainfall are just cresting today, a full week after the storm hit. >> we explaining with the sky so beautiful and blue it is a rolling disaster happening not only in greenville, but elsewhere in eastern north carolina. >> reporter: other towns may not see the worst of it until the weekend, meaning the floodwater won't recede until next week. >> i'm kind of terrified. you have nice memories, but i have been over here four times, and i did not know what to pick up. >> it has been a week where hundreds have been rescued in

power in north carolina alone. the national guard has employed high water trucks to prevent looting. >> they have lost everything, so we're going to do everything we can to help them. >> reporter: and for some it is a bit of deja vu. the historic town of princeville in north carolina flooded in 1999 after hurricane flood and -- floyd and today it is under water again. >> i'd say 80% of this time. >> reporter: many home they will have something left when the water is gone. more crazy weather around the country a woman captured this video of a tornado touching down near her home in oregon. authorities say the tornado traveled damaging several homes and businesses. fortunately no injuries reported. >> how rare is this for a tornado in oregon? >> that is really rare to see

one actually started as a water spout first, so people saw it off the coast and then it moved on land. it caused the great images there. so really something that a lot of them don't see. here in the valley, we don't see it very much either. but i can actually show you the exact average that we're talking about. here is the 20-year average. they generally see three tornado as year in oregon. to put that into perspective for us in arizona, we see about four. so nowhere near what they see, though, in the mid section of the per your, 138 in texas. you go o.k., text x is big, but look up here, kansas, 91. certainly an impressive number, but no weather here in the valley to speak of. we're just talking about a lot of heat. check it out. 94 in phoenix. the high temperature was a few degrees warmer. 84 for you in stafford. for tomorrow, almost exactly the same.

look at where we'll start the day. 67 gorgeous degrees out there. get all of that work done early and then just enjoy in the shade later on in the afternoon, especially if you're heading out towards the state fair. not a whole lot happening. just one storm system rushing through the northern portion of the state. it resulted in gusty winds from flagstaff to winslow. gusting to 26 new at the grand canyon. so certainly use caution because it is going to continue with strong winds in that region, mainly because we have the storm system impacting the pacific northwest. this is round two yesterday. they saw all of that very active weather. they're going to see a lot more. look at this heavy rain from seattle. for us, high pressure in control of our weather, and that is going to mean very warm temperatures and it just sits there for the next seven days that's why the seven-day forecast, you can see things are going to stay a very warm -- stay very warm out there. you're talking temperatures 95 degrees by saturday.

up here in the valley tomorrow. >> it gives the people a chance to get up and close with dolphins. trainers were getting the animals ready for their visitors. the attraction has brought with it some controversy, though. animal activists say dolphins simply have no business living here in the desert. >> i was ready to give up. there was such support from this community, and i know they be back. >> and just like the owner of the buff he chips saloon predicted, the iconic cave creek bar is back. it has been nearly a year since the fire that burned down the business. now the hot spot for packers' fans is rebuilt and is holding a grand opening celebration tomorrow night. no doubt a lot of folks are excited to have it back open, especially during football season. >> definitely. up next on 12 news at 5:00, danger lurking in the water?

cage when a -- with a man inside. the diver quickly escaped through the bottom of the cage while the big fish as you see there thrashed around and the shark was finally to get out through the top. the man who shot this video says the shark broke the metal railing when it crashed into the cage so they used big hunks of tuna to try to lure the sharks closer to the cages and that shark just dove for it and that's how he ended up inside the crazy video. glad that the guy inside is okay. >> that's why i sit on my couch and watch shark week. >> 12 news is always on.
