5:00 pm
information that leads to an arrest. 12 news. the other big story that still has everybody talking tonight, that historic sunday night football finish for the arizona cardinals. >> they haven't had to settle for a tie sense 1986, and a lot of fans are sharing their opinions with us today. >> it was emotionally draining because you wanted to win and then to go home with a tie on a 6-6 game, that's a little weak. >> exciting and heartbreaking. >> you thought for sure i cardinals are going to win this game. there's no doubt in our minds. >> why are they not leading by more points? they're dominating and every time they get close, they missed a field goal, blocked a field goal. >> who misses a field goal? >> it shouldn't end in a tie. to see them do what they do, i'm embarrassed for them. >> it would have been great to see them win, but i think it's
5:01 pm
maybe bad reasons. >> yes, it was pretty intense, shall we say. check out the tweet storm on our special map. it shows us just where the social media posts have been originated. of course a lot of them were coming straight out of the university of phoenix stadium in glendale, but there's will not a lot of reaction from other parts of the valley well. >> and the kick is no good. >> it hits the up right. it's no good. how in the world? >> that's right, cardinal fans. we're talking two missed field goals. if he makes both of those kicks, here's how the division would look.
5:02 pm
a 5-2 record and one loss behind minnesota and dallas. of here's the reality. they sit with a 3-3-1 record in second place in the west two games behind the seahawks in the loss column and chasing 9 different teams for a playoff spot. wow. how dramatically different is that? cardinal fans not hiding their discontented with the kicker. many of the players expressing their support for him while head coach just keeping it real. >> as a professional, you get paid to make it. >> yeah. special teams hasn't been so special for the cardinals. keep in mind they were having long snapping issues and after this disaster, they made a change at the long snapper position and that problem has been resolved.
5:03 pm
next. well, time will tell. my outrage or issue from yesterday's game doesn't involve the placekicker. it actually is the coaches. using 5'8" inches williams as a edge blocker on the punt team. the seahawks defender was simply able to reach over the top of williams. you can see it real clearly here to block this 4th quarter field goal that allowed the seahawks to kick the game into overtime. why aren't they using a bigger player in that situation? that's my outrage. a bigger, taller player would have prevented him from reaching over the top of the smaller williams to block the punt. otherwise, we're talking about a stellar cardinal defense. >> makes perfect sense.
5:04 pm
kickers at our editorial meeting today saying, that was a makeable kick. >> oh are -- oh, yeah. okay. that included kevin kennedy who has been out on the field most of the day today. he's joining us live this afternoon from green way high school tonight. house is it going out -- how is it going out there? >> reporter: here's what i learned, guys. it's a lot easier to sit back on your couch, eat your nachos and drink your beer, yell at the tv, and think i could made that kick. it's a 24 yarder. to be fair, i wasn't the only one that was critical. a lot of people took to twitter and facebook calling out the cat man. we decided to call out one of those fans. we told him we're going to be out here kicking field goals today. why don't you come out here and put your money where your mouth is saying show up or i guess shut up. he showed.
5:05 pm
it? 24 yards out. this is a ship shot. a gimme. no problem. right? >> 24 yard attempt. >> actually, about 5% of field goals attempted inside of 30 yards in the nfl are missed. >> he misses it. >> reporter: two happened last night, two fan bases livid their guy botched it. >> i've seen it all. i've seen it all. ridiculous. we should have won it. >> catanzaro has to go. >> you get money to sit and kick field golds. >> reporter: colton was critical. >> i think i can make one for sure. >> reporter: we gave him five tries, more than catanzaro got. after four tries, he didn't come close. >> i thought it was a chip shot in. >> he has been coaching football 24 years. he's seen a lot, but not last night. >> they're usually on the money.
5:06 pm
>> reporter: as for colton, he had one kick left, and he made it, but learned not many people can consistently kicked a football through a goalpost, even if it is just 24 yards away. >> oh, my gosh. >> and the thing is, it isn't just the distance. okay? it's the fans. it's the situation. it's the moment. what bruce arians said it true. you get paid to make that kick. let's face it. it's all you. >> yes. >> i mean, when the quarterback goes back, there's a lot happening up front. a guy can miss a tackle, but another guy can make up for it. when you're the kicker, it's just you. >> it's intense, and i have to say, although we all know how bruce arians speaks. he's so sort of in your face and direct. my goodness, that man can say some things that i'm like, whoa. >> that's why he's the quote machine of the nfl. >> he really is.
5:07 pm
and the race for the white house. with just 14 more days until election day. >> both candidates are on the campaign trail today. republican donald trump made a couple of stops in the critical battleground state of florida. >> he wants over samples for our polling in order to maximize what we get out of our media polling. it's called voter suppression because people will say, oh, gee, trump we're winning. we're winning. we're winning. >> that was his second event of the day. he told the crowd in st. augustine that the media is against him and all of his supporters. >> and meanwhile, democrat hillary clinton is campaigning in new hampshire. >> he tweeted at the new effort under way to push the terrorists out of the key city of mosul is already and i
5:08 pm
that our country is, quote, looking so dumb. >> well, she joined forces with massachusetts senator elizabeth warren in manchester, and warren promised the not so- called nasty women vote and they will target trump at the polls. early voting is underway in florida. 50 counties opened up their polling places today while the rest of the state will crank things up as the week goes on. more than a million voters in florida have already mailed in registered voters. back here at home, we'll continue to highlight any issues that we uncover when it comes to casting your vote. for example, why some of you and we keep hearing this, still haven't received your early ballot. >> that's right. is it pop your ballot is lost and you won't receive it in time to vote? team 12 verifies. the. >> reporter: so last week, graham represented a voter track down her missing early ballot.
5:09 pm
hadn't gotten one? >> i'm assuming you're going to get it today. i'm assuming the same thing for me because i haven't gotten mine yet. >> reporter: that was tuesday. it's now monday, six days later and we're getting e-mails and messages asking where they are. we're going to find out. who at this point should have gotten their mail-in ballot? >> everybody on our permanent early voting list. >> so if somebody hasn't received it at are some of the reasons that maybe contributed to that? >> if there had been any change in their address, in their name or anything of that nature. >> reporter: or perhaps your address may be just a digit or letter off. >> if 12s00% correct except for the direction. >> reporter: that was the case with her. she's out of state and requested an absentee ballot. >> i called today because i still haven't received my
