live in tempe, brahm resnik, 12 news. thank you. tonight we're verifying eye popping water bills for buckeye homeowners. we first reported the story two days ago and since then we have received dozens of e-mails from people going through the same issue. >> tonight we have team coverage ton water woes starting with team 1 and we just spoke with a buckeye city council member about this problem. charlie? >> reporter: you said it. we just spoke a few moments ago the city of buckeye. the first person and the only person we have been able to get on camera to answer some questions. the councilmember says he watched a portion of the meeting from this afternoon that drew about two dozen residents complaining about their high water bills that was live streamed on 1news.com. he said he couldn't attend because it was short notice and he also had meetings. he spoke to the city's mayor and he told me that several people are now working to address the numerous complains

over the past couple of days. the councilman reiterated that he is not an expert in the water resources department but did question the have diddity of some of the complaints and encouraged the citizens who have not gotten answers to can't their councilmember. we told him that many people we have spoken to have done that several times and contacted the department and also said that they also never got a call back or any kind of help. >> it is a sensitive issue i don't like it i have people out there who are hurting for christmas and things like that. i don't like it one bit. on the other hand, i don't have an answer. i can't give you an answer. i wish i could. >> reporter: now, there's another meeting happening on sunday at 2:00 p.m. here in buckeye. the councilman said he is still debating whether or not he will be able to make that, but our 1

and we want to get to the bottom of this water problem. our william pits is live in the news room with why this seems like more than a leak. >> reporter: a couple hundred gallons extra on your bill, that could be a leaky faucet, but the owner of the heating air doesn't think people with tens of thousands on their bills don't have a leak at all because if they did, they'd know it immediately. >> water takes the h to find an opening fast. >> reporter: he says water is under pressure all the time so if a pipe cracks, there is not going to be a little dribble. >> the epa states that the average family of four uses 400- gallon as month. 70% of that consumption comes from the lath rooms. >> reporter: but 50,000 gallons? that is not just a leaky toilet that is catastrophic. >> i mean that is the size of three swimming pools. that is an excessive amount of water. it is the type of leak that you

think whatever is going on in buckeye is a leak. if it was, every person with the increase would see their homes flooding constantly. brian had a leak behind his water heater yesterday. >> as i pulled home from work, there was water pouring out from underneath my garage door. >> reporter: even then, he says that was not 50,000 gallons. brian thinks the massive increases are more likely a bad water meter shaw or maybe something as bad as accounting. >> thank you. well, it is a global mission that starts right here in arizona. and the 161st air refueling wing swerving as sort -- as sort of a flying gas station for the military all over the world and only on 12 news we're taking you inside the tricky operation that makes it happen. we're live from the boom pod. >> reporter: it is a very tricky operation, so i'm coming

k.c.-135, one of the great planes you'll see south of the runway at sky harbor. i'll show you inside the boom pod to show you how we actually transfer fuel from the air. and you are the actual boom operator. you're on your belly in the back of the plane and you're 20,000 feet up in the air when this happens. we have aircraft that come up maybe 20 feet underneath you. tell me what we're looking at here because it looks a little bi >> yes, it does. basically here we have the telescoping boom latch, so basically my job is to unlatch the boom, lower the boom and i fly wit the control stick that you see here. it is sort of like abatari joy -- atari joy stick. and it is to safely direct the contact where we can pass the gas to the jet. >> reporter: and how much gas are we talking about nhow much time? >> pretty much we have the

to deal with any sun out there. so we're going to keep anytime the 90s. 9:00, high clouds. 89 degrees. by 11:00 we'll be sitting at 85 and we'll see pretty mild temperatures overnight. so here is a lock ahead at monday. your trick-or-treat forecast. and so far nothing very scary about this. we'll see temperatures around trick-or-treating time about 78 and 85 degrees. clear skies and light winds out there. so it is high pressure that has been driving this heat now we're starting to see a little bit of the change. you notice the high clouds moving up from the pacific. you can see rainfall there just off the coast of california -- californiament some of that rain is also move inrand. that will be moving north of us, but it will help to transport the high clouds into the area. they should be clearing out by saturday. that should be followed up by another area of low pressure that will not bring us rain but will help to cool things down. 58 in sedona.

here in phoenix we get down to 74. tomorrow, 71 at the grand canyon. 86 over in globe. we're still going to hang on to the 90. so it may not be 100 tomorrow, but it will still very much be a warm day. we see a little bit of cooling over the weekend and the really good stuff begins on monday. we'll keep anytime the 80s all the way through thursday. all right. d-backs legend randy johnson is in the baseball hall of fame. the diamondbacks ring of honor and now he is also going into the arizona sports hall of fame along with the former cardinals' safety adrien wilson. they're the highlights of this year's class of inductees. >> cameron cox is live at the tempe center for the arts where the induction ceremony is underway. cam? >> reporter: hey, guys. how is it going? you're right.

the highlights of the class. we're live here at the tempe center for the arts. it gets going at 7:00. the meet and greet is going on right now. this class is highlighted by randy johnson, adrien wilson and the former coach john mccloud as well as the racing legend bob bondurant go ing into the arizona sports hall of fame as well. back to johnson and wilson. both of these guys, i talked to them on the red carpet and both of them say this is a dream numerous times but you never played baseball for any of these athletes. after your career -- >> maybe for a free dinner. >> reporter: that is the best part of these things. >> no, i really haven't, but it is such an honor to be inducted into the arizona hall of fame now and obviously it is where i live. it is where i had my best years of my career here in yeas for the diamondbacks. so i'm very humbled, as always,

>> reporter: adrien wilson, first of all, what does this night mean to you? >> i think it is a mull min nation of my career and mean to the community. i know it is kind of an individual award, but obviously my teammates and the organization have a lot to do with what is going on tonight. >> being retired now, it seemed to be a lot more relaxed, you know, not as intense because there's no more games to pitch. a lot more of this because when i played, i was very focused at the job at hand and, you know, really didn't like the distractions in the sense that i didn't want it to take away from my focus on what i needed to do five days from today, whatever. of course now that randy is retired, he loves to talk. everybody has to give a speech and most people i talk to say they're looking forward to
