two iowa police officers have been targeted and killed in what authorities say were ambush-style attacks. >> we have another caller advising there's been an officer shot at 70th and aurora. >> a medic. >> we have rifle rounds out here. and a magazine. it was a rifle for sure. >> one officer was found dead around 2:00 a.m. in urbandale, a suburb of des moines. the second officer's body was located within the city limits. >> in all appears, officers were ambushed. on the surface right now, like i said, we're just a few hours into this. it doesn't look like there was any interaction between these officers and whoever the coward is that shot them while they sat in their cars. that's the best we've got that we can explain the scene right now. >> they have doubled up their officers to better protect them. the investigation and hunt for the killer or killers continues

28% of republicans who voted early in florida voted for hillary clinton. that explains why trump has visited the state of florida more than any other state since his nomination holding events 32 times. ohio, pennsylvania, north carolina and colorado were heavily visited by the republican nominee. as for clinton, florida topped her list as well. same for new york, where her campaign headquarters is located, ohio, pennsylvania, north carolina were among her top visited battleground as well as nevada. so you know the saying, the old one that goes, it ain't over until it's over? it's definitely applicable for the world series. the cubs were able to fend off elimination in game six. this time against hot hitting. it started in the first with chris ryan homer followed up by addison russell two innings later crushing a grand slam to deep center field.

in two years, iraqi troops have entered the city of mosul despite fierce resistance from isis fighters. the battle is expected to take weeks, possibly even months. nbc's matt bradley joins us live from iraq. matt? >> thanks, a yman. as you know, they have entered into mosul itself, and what they had to look forward to is a blistering fight from isis, probably for the next week or even months, we're talking about urban warfare. this is the most difficult warfare that any conventional army can face. what we've seen previously, fights in ramadi and fallujah. also, major urban centers. the islamic state put up fierce resistance and they're using all of the tools they have in their tool kit. this is some ugly stuff. we're talking about suicide bombings, defensive works. but in mosul, that's the second
