anybody has gone to bed down here. you can probably hear the crowd behind me. we continue to see people showing up here at wrigley. at its peak after the game, tens of thousands were here celebrating the cubs' world championship. there's still a large group around wrigley field right now. and still people coming in, believe it or not, early this morning, just to be a part of the celebration. who can blame them? it's been 108 years in between world so maybe they deserve to have a little fun here in chicago today. i think what we're going to see as the morning progresses is a lot of people who don't show up to work today, maybe a sick day. those that do, i'm betting a majority of them have a headache once they're at work. then i think we're going to see a lot of absences in schools around the chicago area. they are having fun and celebrating this win. back to you guys. >> i can imagine, jay, that the

in the strongest terms this terrible act that has no place in our society. >> new details this morning on the suspect believes to have killed two des moines police officers in an ambush style attack. a law enforcement source tells nbc news scott michael green has a history of mental problems. investigators are trying to determine what set him off. blake mccoy has more. >> reporter: with guns drawn, offi c neighborhood where two of their own had just been ambushed, fearing they could become the next target. it was 1:06 a.m. when police responding to a call of shots fired found urbandale officer justin martin shot dead in the front seed of his squad car. a rookie officer, this was his first year on the draw. 20 minutes later, tony beminio was found shot in his squad car.

nbcnews.com. isis leader al baghdadi emerges with a defiant statement. he called on supporters to spread attacks to other countries while expressing confidence that isis will win the battle for mosul. nbc news has not independently verified the authenticity or the date of the audio statement. matt bradley joins us live from erbil, northern iraq. good to have you with us. what does the timing of the at >> thanks. other than saying al baghdadi the leader of isis is still alive, it indicates he's trying to rally support among his troops in mosul, which is a city about an hour west of where i am now here in erbil. he's trying to get them to stay the line, to put up a really strong defense against overwhelming pressure from the iraqi military and from the u.s. coalition, which is bombing from above. now, he's basically said the only thing he really can say,

he's essentially telling his men, don't leave the line. stay where you are. don't retreat back to syria. and just basically gird yourself for what is going to be a suicide mission. now, he's peppered his statement, this 30-minute statement, with the kind of lofty rhetoric we're used to hearing from isis. the kind of stuff that's very sort of religious in tone and almost an ancient kind of language. it's trying to create a patina of age. he's trying to sort o this modern fight to the fight that muhammad used to lead. and this is part of the prophecy isis tried to present to isfollowers. he's trying to get people to rise up and follow and take up the caliphate in other countries and we need to look at other countries to see if this message has reached its intended message. >> matt bradley, thanks. just ahead, how some u.s. companies are helping to turn out the vote for election day.
