mixed emotions as news spreads of castro's death. a winter storm heading to arizona. everything you should know to be prepared. do those beanie babies still have any value? and a valley couple staying true to their until death do us part wedding vows. tonight a horrific crash in peoria sends seven people to the hospital. including five young children. the crash is also closed down a major roadway for hours. team 12 is live at the scene of the crash with more. >> reporter: yeah. the truck involved here we're told was heading northbound right on 87th avenue which is where we are now. you can see the truck still here with pretty significant front end damage and investigators have been on scene for hours now taking pictures and measurements out here trying to piece together what happened. investigators say the driver of

stop sign t-boning a mini-van full of people. we're told there were seven people in the mini-van. five children between the ages of 6 and 14. two have serious injuries. right now the road is still closed for this investigation between 83rd and 91st avenues. you'll have a find -- to find another way for the next couple hours. people rush in to help some of the kids. >> it was really scary. there was at least 10 people sournding the kid -- surrounding the kid on his back. i'm still shaken. >> life threatening injuries on three of the children. one was flown out by helicopter. we're hoping for the best. peoria medical had to utilize (inaudible) on the vehicle to get some of the other children out as well.

two adults inside of the van in serious condition in the hospital now. but this truck, the driver stayed on scene and as -- has cooperated with the investigation. impairment not likely a factor but a certain important side note, they have between 40 and 60 extra hours on d irk i patrol -- dui patrol tonight for the thanksgiving holiday. make sure you're driving careful. >> reporter: thank you. the other big story around the world tonighte longtime cuban dictator fidel castro. there is a nine day mourning period in cuba but cuban americans are celebrating freely in the streets in miami. many felt the impact of castro's regime having their families torn apart in an attempt to escape the dictatorship. >> he was a sadistic murderer who brought great suffering to the 11 million people of cuba. he should not be revered.

next sunday. for those who have endured the suppression it's a very emotional time. it's also a time to look to the future. team 12 met with a cuban refugee who came to the u.s. in 1967 to get his take on the news. >> reporter: castro basically basically betrayed the public and cubans by becoming a cumenist. >> reporter: a man seen by supporters as a social pioneer offering health care and education to all cubans say he oppressed countless generations of people. >> i don't hold him any ill will as a cuban. my father and grandfather wouldn't agree. >> reporter: that's pretty neutral for a man whose roots date to 1841. >> the construction of the railroad and my ancestor was there to oversee that. >> reporter: a friend of his family ripped away coming to the u.s. he was only seven

overnight hours. this incident is still under investigation. six people are out of their home tonight after a big fire broke out. this happening near 27th avenue and rozer. fire crews were able to save 50% of the home. authorities are looking for a man who held up a clerk at gun point at an extended stay hotel near 24th street and elwood. the suspect demanded money and walked out of the front door. pink. call silent witness at 480- witness. we're getting ready for some rain here in the valley and snow up in the high country throughout the next couple days. matt pace is here with what to expect. >> reporter: trisha, some big changes coming to the forecast. you already saw all the clouds today. i want to take you through this hour by hour here. here is the storm system with

experts say the increase in online sales shows customers are trying to avoid going to packed stores and don't feel the need to wait for cyber monday. this year's hot toy is the hatchamo. back 20 years ago when beanie babies were all the rage. i sure do. becca set out to find out if those treasured toys still have any value. >> reporter: 20 years ago, the beanie baby craze was at a fever pitch. long lines stretched outside gift store doors, retailers imposed limits. beanie babies per customer. in 1997 -- tye unveiled the teeny babies at mcdonalds across the country and everyone said these will be worth something someday. >> i think it's hilarious people were like oh, we're buying these to put our kids

2016 and scoop here will cost you a whole dollar. >> reporter: he is a vintage dealer in west knoxville where one of his fellow vendors has a handful for sale. >> he is selling for a whole $3 which i think several years ago would not have been the case. >> reporter: originally priced at $5 per beanie they're nowthry. -- 3.99 in west knoxville. >> the classic beanie babies. >> reporter: starting in th late 90s the value quickly shot up. >> some are worth something and some are not. >> reporter: dr. laury is an antiques aphraseer that says they could be worth something. >> there is sometimes the first wave. the first wave are 9 particular beanie babies introduced early on in the early 1990s and they still hold their value better than some of the ones that they were making in the early 2000s

in 70 years was two weeks ago when nana passed away. raphael was heart broken of course and he actually passed away just five days later. jen has a look back at their love story. >> really embrace life for all it's earth. >> reporter: death is never easy but can have its silver linings. it can be proof of the world's subtle generosity. >> it's like he waited for everyone to be there. >> reporter: for a final f well and good-bye. >> before he fell asleep for the final time. >> reporter: raphael was a soldier before becoming a father and grandfather. >> he couldn't tell enough stories about his time in the korean war and what he learned and what it meant to be a soldier. and what he tells me, what it means to be a man. >> reporter: nana was his wife and love of 68 plus years. jason, one of their proud

side. held hands, hugged. >> reporter: as age and time seeped in, they grew closer to their good-bye. >> they would fall asleep together holding hands. and, you know, we'd walk in to check on them and they would be spooning one another. their love was strong enough to conquer everything. >> reporter: everything but death it seemed. nana passed last monday. difficult. and from there i don't want to say he shut down but he was almost lost without her. >> reporter: back to what jason said about their love conquering all, maybe it did. maybe this time love escaped death or death was at least the eternal solution for two people who loved so deeply. >> pretty spectacular that he wanted to be with her and i think she made up his mind that i need to be with my wife.

going to change for the evening hours. a slight chance of rain in the morning. only a 10% chance of rain but we really begin to ramp up the rain chances after the 6:00 hour. a 60% chance of rain by the 9:00 hour. look at the high temperature tomorrow, 64 degrees. so how much snow and rain are we talking about? everywhere you see in the purple color, this is a winter weather advisory in effect. we're talking between 5500 feet one to four inches of snowfall in flagstaff. four to six inches before all is said and done and rainfall not too impressive but we'll take it. a tenth to quarter inch in the center of the city. north or east could see a half inch of rainfall in the up slope regions of the state. certainly something to look forward to and today a lot of cloud cover. all the green on the eastern

unfortunately no rainfall. look up towards kingman. seeing a little bit of rain and snow just to the east of kingman. this will continue moving towards the east as we head over the next couple hours. flagstaff probably going to see a little bit of snowfall. here is what's going on for the big picture. there is the first storm system we're tracking. san francisco, that's the one where that's going to slide right into the valley on sunday nouth into monday -- night moou monday morning and result in a southern california, all stops right on the side of the mountain. that's the rain shadow effect. this side over here you don't see a whole lot of rainfall. the mountains block all the moisture. on the 7-day forecast, 60% chance towards monday morning. and then those temperatures stay in the 60s for the next 7 days.
