afternoon. mare hopeful with the decline in the marketsur as wel asil surrounding china tariffs and slower global growth issues,in they're h pal may sounds l aggressive in 2019. that may be a lot of wish flgful thinking. the t g front run the meeting in early december by changing its position. he may touch on a slower growing onomy, maybe, but the message is unlikely to signal aossible cooling in the fed's desire to continue to lift rates. following this meeting betweene prestrump and xi jinping in buenos aires later this week, traders are hopeful that just an announcement of a cease fire, just a vague statement that no new tariffs will be imemented. the barrier is not very high.
5:03 pm
>> traders not be so hopeful after a late report from "the wall street journal" that president trump still expects te move with an increase on tariffs on chinese that increase is set to go into effect in january. the president also spoke about the possibility of tiariffs on apple products and that sent that stockn lower initial hours of trading tonight. trade is just one of the things that could drive the market between now and year's end. joining us is lamarvillery. good to see you zen thank you. >> we mentionedt a little about trade, especially with the president's commentsate this afternoon. you're also watching central bank activity as we go into the end of the year. why? >> i think that's going to beth sog on the top of investors' minds, what's going to happetr at the c bank.

5:05 pm
of the data we saw, 20% increases and black friday sales as well as and people thinking you're going to see more monday.es here on cyber unfortunately what we like to look at isny com earnings and there are no earnings. earning season is over. so far it's been positive and that's a big part of the why y saw the big move up today. >> fed rate increase, that's already in the market. taris is already in the market. hat could happen that the market's not anticipating right hinking aboutre >> continued strength in the consumer. the almost nice thing is the expectation is that interest rates are going to go up. that's bad. the expectation is that the trade war is going to contivee and exacerbate. that's bad. so if the expectation is for mething bad, anything in the opposite direction will be viewed as a positive.
5:06 pm

5:11 pm
workers. is that whate're looking at herewe a? >> it might end up being a total smaller workforce. it might be. but i don't think it'sy substantiadifferent. i don't think the size is the shift as much as what you already talked about. it's t natur of the business and the nature of the human resources that drive that business. i think that's a much bigger shift. the size may or may not shift, t probably shouldn't be ultimately that much smaller. >> going to be interesting to watch this happen. carl brow, thank you for joining us tonight. >> thank you. carlos ghosn is out at chairman of mitsubishi a week h aftewas arrested for financial misconduct. ghosn has not been charged with any crime, but is being questioned b japanese regularities who says he underreportedisncome over several years. investors were also watching the situation at the u.s./mexico
