we want to start with breaking news, tonight we are just learning about an officer involved shooting. jamie is in virginia city, what do we know? >> reporter: we just got here five minutes ago and sheriff gerald confirms about half an hour ago there was an officer involved shooting here tonight. we don't have much detail on the status of the officer or if he was injured or how many were involved in the shooting tonight. i can tell you it is quiet in virginia city - - city and we tried to drive around to find out where this happened tonight, but it is quiet and we did see a couple of sheriffs vehicles had back to the jail. we are still waiting for information from the sheriff, he told us that he is is he at the moment

him for attempted murder charges. >> they know his charges. they know what is going on with him. it is false. they needed the police department out here. what did they do? they lied. >> reporter: the marshals asked them for help. he was tracked down off desert and cimmaron on new year's eve. they thought he had a a gun when he actually had a cell phone. they fired on him and they stressed he did not cooperate. >> he is wanted on a number of violent felonies. >> reporter: this man says officers had no right firing on them. >> i don't know how you can be 15 feet from someone and as a trained officer, you can determine if it is a cell phone or a gun? he was in the driveway for 10 minutes. >> it's hard to believe.

believe it. >> reporter: an attorney who represented him says his client was wanted for missing trials for multiple crimes. murder. he was convicted of burglary, robbery, napping, theft and aggravated assaults. his death was ruled a homicide. cynical police in israel are searching for a gunman who opened fire yesterday, killing two people and wounding several more. he was caught on security cameras at a bar and grocery store. the video shows him pulling a weapon from of backpack. - - from a backpack. the father is saying he was mentally unstable. they are searching his laptop. south lake tahoe police are

new year's eve. police made a total of eight arrests thursday morning and noon on friday. they arrested five people for intoxicated - - intoxication, one person for possession of a stun gun, one person for possession of alcohol and another for trespassing the issued 170 citations and transferred 19 people. this year's arrests year's arrests are down from 17 from last new year's eve. here is a look at all of the arrests from 2005. arrests have decreased during festivities. but it was a mostly peaceful beginning to the new year and police say they only arrested one person as thousands gathered to watch the wire work display. they say they arrested somebody for being intoxicated in the roadway an additional police officers patrolled the streets last night and they want to think the

looking at your next 24 hours, we will try to get above freezing for tomorrow. i will have your full forecast coming up. back to you, olivia. reno firefighters were able to put out claims within minutes of a truck crashing to a supermarket. the chief says it happened at 230 2:30, the driver had a medical event that incapacitated him, causing his truck to crash into a wall at the store. he said the drivers for - - foot stuck on the accelerator, causing the back tires to spin and catch fire. firefighters quickly responded and put out the fire and the building has minor damage and the driver was not injured in the crash. officials are asking drivers to avoid the intersection of pyramid way if possible. traffic controls will be in effect until wednesday. a crash early this morning caused the signal to malfunction.

can arrive to repair the signal. there are flashing red lights at the intersection. secret witness is offering a reward for more information about a suspect in a stabbing from yesterday. a man and woman were taken to a hospital with non- life- threatening injuries after the stabbing they say it happened said happened at 2:00 yesterday afternoon and in the 300 block of view street. police are asking anyone with information to contact the police or secret witness, that number is on your screen. a dispute yesterday between a pair of people on the casino floor of the peppermill ended with one person sprayed with pepper spray. several people were affected by the spray and paramedics treated them and no one was seriously injured. the suspect is described as of - - as a hispanic man in his 20s. if you were there and affected
