current conditions. we have got very cloudy skies over reno right now. we are sitting at 37 degrees. no winds to speak of, but relative humidity at 54%. and looking at live doppler radar, we are seeing a lot of heavy cloud cover over far western nevada and then out past fallon as well. eastern nevada seeing a few scattered showers out there as well. then as we zoom in and put doppler radar in motion for the last hour, again see very heavy cloud cover and scattered showers across western nevada and that is going to remain the story through the night tonight and your tuesday. we he do have a winter weather advisory for the see aria and far western nevada tomorrow morning at 7 a.m. and last through the day. anywhere from 1-4 inches of snow on the valley floors and 2-5 inches of snow above 5,000 feet tomorrow. also a winter storm warning takes effect tonight and remains in effect to 10:00 tomorrow night with this one above 6,000 feet from 12 to 16 inches of

we will continue to track in and have a closer look at your seven-day forecast coming up in just a few minutes. >> thanks so much, madison. and new video this afternoon from heavenly mountain resort. as you can see, skiers and snowboarders were lowered down from the chairlift you after a chair fell off of its cable. these are pictures actually. not video. but the video, the pictures are from laura miller. officials have the resort say no one was injured when the chair fell from the downhill pass of the north bowl chairlift around 11:00 a.m. they had to stop operating that chairlift and evacuate 65 people. the resort has suspended operations while they investigate the cause of the fall. armed protesters are continuing to occupy buildings at a federal wildlife refuge in rural oregon. the protesters are upset about government overreach and that the federal authorities are preventing people from using land and resources. the fbi is working with the

oregon state police and local and state law enforcement agencies to bring the situation to a peaceful resolution. sad news to pass along tonight. a 16-year-old boy who was shot in the het at pat baker park last week has died. reno police say the boy died over the weekend after being transported to the hospital last tuesday following the shooting. >> the court will consider, one, if there is enough evidence to show that in fact it's more likely than not that the juvenile committed the offense, and then, two, the court looks at an overarching public safety issue. should he be tried as an adult. a lot of times what that rests on is the seriousness of the crime. in this kind of situation, in this particular fact pattern, it's very egregious. >> as of now authorities say the 15-year-old suspect is being charged with open murder. reno police officers say they are looking for two suspects involved in a shooting early sunday morning.

outside one bar in the 200 block of west commercial row. this is about 3:45 in the morning. officers say they found two gunshot victims when they arrived on scene. those two people were taken to the hop with non-life threatening injuries. police say witnesses told them the suspects and the victims were arguing right before the shooting. >> officers arrived. did find two victims of gunshot wounds who were transported and we're currently waiting for an update on their conditions. >> one suspect is described as a hispanic man wearing a dark blue sweatshirt. the other is a hispanic man standing 5'5" wearing a red 49ers jersey. if you have any information about this shooting, police ask that you call secret witness at 322-4900. now the suspect has been arrested in an officer-involved shooting near virginia city. it happened around 4:30 saturday

highlands. authorities say that a deputy was responding to a domestic violence call when he was shot in the back. the suspect in this case is 51-year-old charles stutts. he is accused of firing multiple shots from a rifle which hit another person at the scene in addition to the deputy. the sheriff says his deputy was able to return fire, which caused stutts to surrender. stutts, the deputy and the other victim were treated for non- life threatening injuries. stutts was taken into custody and is facing attempted murder and aggravated domestic battery charges. >> i don't know all the details yet. don't know what was going through the perpetrator's mind at the time. have a long ways to go in the investigation. i would say it's an isolated incident. i believe this is the first time we have had a deputy shot since the 1800s. >> and the sheriff says the nevada department of public safety's investigation division

investigation because one of his deputies was involved. options for tougher gun restrictions are being discussed today by president obama and attorney general loretta lynch. officials at the white house said that obama had a sense of urgency for a list of steps he can take after the recent high-profile incidents of gun violence. those in favor of owning a gun have been speaking out against this executive decision. pro-gun groups say it will not prevent crime, using the san bernardino attack as an example because california has very strict gun laws. >> they are violating what american stands for. so if a person cannot come in and legally buy a gun to defend themselves and then that means that only criminals have the guns, the ones willing to violate the laws. so that's why they're criminals. so more laws doesn't mean a safer place to live. >> white house officials will announce in the coming days a new executive action with hopes

meat was raised slaughtered and processed. congress repealed the law last month. so effective immediately these labels are now no longer required. lawmakers are saying they had no choice, blaming it on the westlake trade organization. both canada and mexico have been claiming this labeling creates biases against their beef. the westlake trade organization supported canada and mexico's threat toum post $1 billion in taxes against the u.s. some say this reversal in labeling is counter to the trend they are seeing from their customers. >> people are always asking about the eggs and the meat and they are very insistent h they want know where it comes from, how it's being raised, approximate it's going to be healthy for them and healthy for the environment. >> we want to know what it, how they were treated, the animals, if they were humanely treated. >> so they are saying their customers want to know mo are about the foods they eat. coming up tonight at five we

after the break the federal government is suing car maker volkswagen over auto emissions. the driving force is software designed to fool emissions testing systems and give the company as diesel engines a pass when in fact those engines

to 40 times federal environmental standards. this is according to the government. the lawsuit allegations the automaker lylely installed the software on 600,000 volkswagen, audi and porsche cars sold in the united states. general motors are giving each other a lift. lyft says gm has invested $500 million in the company. gm gets a seat on lyft's board and access to the three-year- old company's software. it also becomes a preferred vehicle provider to lyft. together gm and lyft plan to open a network of hubs giving gm the chance to get more consumers behind the wheel of a chevrolet, buick, gmc or cadillac. they will also work together to develop a fleet of autonomous vehicles that city dwellers could summon using lyft's mobile app? you like how gas prices ended

>> that's right, shelby. we have a lot to talk about tonight. through the rest of the work week, an active weather partnership making its way in. in the last hour, depending where you are. so foothills of reno are seeing those snow showers and scattered showers across far western nevada right now. this is the last hour we are seeing a lot of heavy cloud cover and of course we are seeing some of those flurries out there as well and that's going to remain through the night. than a weather advisory from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. tomorrow. anywhere from one to four inches on the valley floors and two to five inches possible above 5,000 feet. also this winter storm warning in the pink shaded area here. that's going to be above 6,000 feet. that winter storm warning takes effect tonight an remains in effect to 10:00 tomorrow night. our air quality is reduced today. a moderate air quality as of

it is okay to burn for the reno and sparks area. right now in reno at 37 degrees. no winds to speak of but relative humidity at 54%. and around the area sitting the mid-to-upper 30s across the region right now. fallon at 39 degrees in hour. on satellite and radar we are beginning to see the low pressure system push through northern california and northern nevada. as we put futurecast in motion we are going to start to see some of that snow spilling over as early as 3 a.m. tomorrow morning. the reno area could be waking up to commute problems and of course in the sierra as well. check the road conditions and take it slow out there. this is 11:00 a.m. tomorrow. we are going to see heavy snow in the sierra and rainfall behind it in california. so a mix of rain and snow is possible for some areas with daytime highs ranging from the upper 30s to the lower 40s in some areas. tonight in reno and sparks down 230 degrees. cloudy conditions. again that chance for scattered showers. we are looking at light winds tonight with tomorrow's daytime high looking to reach 40 degrees.

mix of snow and rain depending when they are moving in and how the temperatures are looking at that hour. 1 to 4 inches of snow is possible on the valley floor. eastern nevada daytime highs there in the mid 30s. so warming up in eastern nevada compared to the last week. as we head west the lower 40s for that daytime there and the overnight low down to 27 degrees and then in carson city tonight 29 degrees and then topping out at 39 degrees tomorrow. now, at lake level we could see anywhere from 3 to 7 inches of snow tomorrow with the wind out south at 5 to 15 miles per hour. up north in susanville it's going to be more of a mix of rain and snow with 2 to 4 inches of no there. those daytime highs are in the upper 30s and lower 40s. that causes that mix of snow and rain. as the day goes on tomorrow the valley floor definitely looking to see the snow showers with mobile at 38 degrees. we have quite a wit of active weather through the week, as you
