i have to have daily meetings with the other brokers in my office just to keep up. >> reporter: we fund a slew of bogus web sites not authorized by nevada's health exchange to sell health insurance in nevada, and that is not the only challenge we discovered. >> trying to figure out what plans and prices are actually real online. >> reporter: he says rites now in nevada, there's only one web site where you can purchase health care online and that's the federal web site healthcare.gov, but that, too, can present its own set of challenges. >> i have heard oh lot of misinformation from health care.gov. >> reporter: he says many find they can't speak to one person and every time they call back to the federal site, they get a different person who may offer contradictory information, confusing paperwork or rejections of applications without explanation. >> trying to figure out why one department said one thing is impossible if the call center can't e-mail them, which the call center has very limited

look at elko. it is dropping off at 21. the low ifs the east could hit single digits. the air quality is great. enjoy your fireplace. more weather coming up after the break. people landing at the reno- tahoe international airport now have another transportation option. as of today, uber driver cans pick people up there. we're live at the airport now. oliva rmany people using uber out there tonight? >> reporter: well, shelby, we have been out here since before our 4:00 news this afternoon, and so far we have seen several people requesting uber rides. i did talk to some of the first uber users at the airport today. system of them had to wait a little bit for their ride to show up just because there weren't that many uber drivers in the area that is likely because today is the first day the airport is allowing the uber drivers to pick people up here. uber has been in northern nevada since september, but in the past four months, the uber drivers have only been allowed

the airport ceo tells me it has taken officials this long to come to an agreement with uber to make sure the ride sharing service is following the same regulations taxis have to follow. those include a tracking system that lets the airport know when an uber driver or a taxi driver enters the pick-up area here, and then a $1 charge each time the driver uses the airport for business. uber spokesperson. says they believe the ride sharing service is especially valuable for out of towner whose are accustom to using this app. >> we know that folks come from all over the world to this area for the world class skiing, and those folks are using their uber apps at home in 65 different countries, so when they land here, it is no exception. they're able to get that ride and these drivers are able to benefit from that income opportunity. >> reporter: now, uber drivers do not have to have a permit to operate at the airport. instead, uber as a company has to pay $10 per driver who wants to do business here. that's the same price taxi

device that lets them operate at the airport. and if you're looking for an or ebb after you land, you're not going to find them lined up here north of the waggage claim like you might see taxis. you do still have to use your uber app and wait a few minutes for them to come pick you up. reporting live at the reno- tahoe international airport. news 4. thank you, oliva. new at 6:00 tonight, a carson city judge say as proposed ballot measure to raise nevada's minimum wage to $13 an hour can move forward. the judge ruled the petition language doesn't need to be changed. nevada's minimum wage is $8.25 an hour or $7.25 after an employer offers health insurance. the measure would create a single $9.25 an hour raise in late 2018 and increase it by 75- cents each year until it reaches that $13 mark in 2024. the backers have to gather more than 55,000 signatures to put that proposal on the november ballot.

plowing her car into pedestrians ton las vegas strip is facing a new round of criminal charges. holloway was originally charged with murder and child endangerment for killing one woman and wounding more than 30 people. today she was also charged with attempted murder and battery for each of the people injured. the prosecutors say she jumped the curb and intentionally ran down pedestrians last month, but even her attorneys say they happened. >> it is early to tell, but obviously when you have an incident like this occurring, there's a lot of questions that you ask relating to how something like this might happen, and that's the stage that we're in right now. >> reporter: holloway's 3-year- old daughter was in the car, but she was not injured. holloway could spend the rest of her life in jail if she is convicted on all 71 charges. a former nevada state senator is in the running for a washoe county commission seat. today maurice washington announced his bid for washoe

if you missed it, it will be a morning routine for the next few weeks. and this doesn't happen very often. >> no, it doesn't, shelby. the last time we could see these five planets a the same time about 10 years ago. so from now until the end of february, the planets closest to earth, mercury, venus, mars, jupiter and saturn will be vies until the early morning sky. dan ruby, the director at the planetarium at the university of nevada, says the planets aren't aligned but rather they're at the point in their orbit where the planets are on the same side of the sun at the same time. now, because our solar system is on a plane, it looks like they are in a line. the planets are so bright you can see them with your naked eye. >> so you don't need to go anywhere but your back yard. about 45 minutes before sunrise will let you see all of the visible planets now. we do have a lot of great locations in northern nevada. if you drive in a few directions, we're able to see a

unknown person brought an envelope containing an unknown substance. the sheriff's office is losed at this time. the report says the package has not been open. we'll continue to update you on this situation as more information becomes available. joe? thank you, shelby. from the ask joe file, a question about a criminal case unfolding in mineral county now. and howard wrote in asking if he could get an update on the robert peterson case. he wants to know if there is any truth to the rumor going around that the case may be moved out of mineral county. this is the case we reported on last week. peterson is charged with 145 counts of luring a child, statutory sexual seduction and using a minor in production of pornography, amamg other charges. peterson was arrested in november. i did find out today he is being held on $3 million bail because there are so many serious counts involved. that's why the bail is so high. and whether the case will be moved remains to be seen, but nothing has been filed with the

let's talk about the impacts for friday night into saturday because they could be substantial. at this point we're 48 hours away, but we're going with the cautionary side. snow levels, 4,000 to 5,000 feet that is on saturday morning. in the sierra, above 7,000 feet. one to two feet of snow. above that, maybe three feet. this is so great for the ski industry and for our snow pack. lake level, saturday morning, four to eight inches of snow is possible. maybe more. at the 5,000 foot level, and that pertains to the eastern side of the crest of the sierra. so the west side of reno, if you're above 5,000 feet or at it, maybe one to three inches of snow. the reno valley floor for now, maybe a half of an inch or less. our next storm system, already the winter storm watches are in effect that is in effect from friday all the way through saturday afternoon, and they could extend that as we get going into the afternoon hours on saturday. excuse me.

colin jackson with the weather. welcome back, everybody. we have changes on the way. it should be a carbon copy of what we have today. a mix bag of temperatures, which is nice this time of year so we have nothing going on yet. the rain showers, very light in the eureka, arcade area, but things are change, friday night especially into saturday morning. snow level 4,000 to 5,000 feet. in the sierra, 7,000 feet or above that. how about one to two, maybe three feet of snow. lake level, four to eight inches. that will wake you up in the morning, and that will make the commute to resorts interesting as well. reno, one to three inches of snow is possible at those elevationsment and reno on the valley floor. it will be close. we're cog to go with half an inch, but that could make the roads treacherous, and this means business. it is a winter storm watch from the national weather service that is in effect through saturday afternoon. whenever there is a watch, it usually turns pink and then it become as winter storm warning

it won't last very long, but the cold air will stay and highs over the weekend will drop into the mid 40s. you'll notice the changes there. so this goes as far as saturday morning early. we'll wait and see. sometimes the wind sheers everything apart and we get nothing. tonight's low, 29. light winds and then tomorrow's high, not bad. 54 with a mixed bag and the clod and sun, you night not even need a jacket. i saw people cycling today and it was comfortable. overnight lows, elko down to nine and austin down to 20. highs tomorrow in this region, a wide range from low 30s to low 40s at best. zooming down to the valley floor, overnight low also be below freezing in most spots as we rebound to highs. lit take a while. once you get to around 11:00, it warms up rapidly and we eat get you into the mid 50s to low 50s for highs again a high of around 50. so the changes are not tomorrow, but they are coming.
