as it moves in to hull bolt county -- hum bolt county. the cold low pressure system is going to move in friday night into saturday. tomorrow we start with a chance of rain late in the day and then we stand a chance of a rain-snow mix saturday morning. the current temperature, we are at 53 degrees as we speak. so, what does that mean? it is still above average. the numbers are interesting to say the least. stay with us. thank you, colin. a snow boarder is getting a lot of attention over an online video showing him riding down the mountain in an avalanche and now he is facing charges for causing the mountain to slide. terri hendry joins us live from the sugar bowl ski resort. the resort said this happened in a closed off area. >> reporter: a spokesperson. for the ski resort said this happened in an area that is considered inbounds but close to the public and very dangerous. this video demonstrates that. take a look.

>> reporter: the snow boarder touches that fresh powder, he's pulled down the mountain by the sliding snow. at one point you can even see he is underneath the snow. he survived this and appeared not to be injured, at least not in the video. just shaken up quite a bit, but now he is facing prosecution for tres patting -- trespassing, going in a closed ski area. >> when the ski patrol says do not ride this and this area has not been open since 2010-2011, so it doesn't open much and it ready. >> reporter: the day it was posted, we reached out to the snow boarder. meanwhile, we're told by the plaster county sheriff's office that if he is convicted, he could face up to six months in jail or a $1,000 fine. so pretty serious stuff. reporting live from the sugar bowl ski resort. i'm terri hendry. back to you.

web poll question. we'd like to know do you think the snowboarder who escaped the avalanche should be charged with a crime? there is still plenty of time to vote. you'll find it on our facebook page, krnv news 4. we'll have updated results throughout our newscast tonight. the shooting in reno last night that we told you about. according to reno police, jones and rooney have been arrested on multiple charges in this case. the police say the call of a shooting around 7:30 last night, and according to police, a man and a woman were approached by two suspects who demanded their belongings. the man fought back and that's when the police say one of the suspects pulled out a gun and shot the man in the leg. the suspects ran off to an apartment complex on matton drive and the witnesses called police who say they found the victim's property, drugs and firearms. the police are still looking for two or three more suspects

and two people were hospitalized last night after a home invasion in sparks. this afternoon the police are looking for three suspects. the officials tell us the man broke into a home on the 2200 block of 18th street just before 8:00. the suspects armed with handguns reportedly ordered the man and woman inside on the floor. the police say the male victim was hit in the head by one of the suspects. the female victim, who is pregnant sbeing treated for pregnancy-related stress. the police are looking for a dark car, possibly a fourur door sedan leaving the area. two of the suspects are described as wearing black clothing, including hooded shirts. the third person is reportedly wearing all gray clothing with a gray hooded sweatshirt. anyone with information regarding either of these cases is asked to contact secret witness at 322-4900. well, in the past few months, sadly, four infants have died in washoe county due to unsafe sleeping environments. and cribs for kids program

to prevent a child from suffocating. we have the story tonight. >> reporter: in the time period from july 2008 through august of 201, there were -- 2011, there were 17 infant deaths in washoe county. the cribs for kids a national program that provides information to parents orb how to -- on how to prevent accidental deaths. >> we like to refer all parents to the abcs of safe sleep, alone, on their back and in a crib. for alone, we mean make sure that everyone, all individuals, siblings and also toys, blankets, bumper pads, all of those things are eliminated from the sleep environment with the child. >> b. is for back. make sure the child is on their back during every sleeping period, including naps. and c., the child needs to be in their crib as soon as possible. >> a lot of these sleep-related deaths will come out t as

>> even if there are no toys or bumper pads in the crib, the mattress still cannot be soft, similar to an adult bed. >> so you think about compression, once they fall into something, if it is too soft, their airway and their head is going to be the first thing that tilts down compromising that airway. >> reporter: also, the child should wear a sleep sack instead of a plan coat to minimize the rick of it wrapping around their face or neck. >> there is no maliciousness with this. the reason they're speaking with their child is because they want to get close to the child or they're exhausted. the baby is crying, of and if they just sleep with the baby, the baby is soothed. >> reporter: it is recommended room sharing, not bed sharing. have the child in the same room, but the a crib next to you. >> we would rather have you wake your child than not have a child that would wake up due to an unsafe sleep condition. >> reporter: in reno, news 4. cribs for kids offers classes to parent whose want to

who want to learn more about unsafe sleeping conditions. they provide sleep sacks, and it is recommended that you don't sleep for your child -- be your child for the first two years of life. a reno man took his passion career. in this week's think local segment, news 4's jaime hayden shows us how he did just that. >> reporter: doug e. moore's passion for jewelry design began nearly 20 years ago while he was living in utah. >> i was walking from my house from main street to park city to get dinner and passing the kim bell art center there and there was a gn in the jewelry that said jewelry fabrication classes start wednesday, eight weeks, 6:00 to 9:00 and i turned right in right then and signed up. >> reporter: the rest is history. he continued working in park city as a professional snow boarding coach for a few year years, but he he ventally decided to move back to his roots in 2000 for a career change.

was still affiliated with the u.s. team for a couple more years, and got into teaching school for a few years in the district. >> reporter: however, his loe for jewelry design -- love for jewelry design never stoped. he continued it as a hobby until 2010 and that's when he decided to make ate full-time career and opened the designs -- make it a full-time career and opened the store. >> it is based around this custom counter space here in the shop. to sit down with the customers when they come in, design the jewelry together. when they leave, often i lock the door to head back into the shop to really focus on it. >> reporter: from start to finish, moore designs and creates every piece of jewelry for his customers. >> and some are as simple as an hour or two of time to make, fabricate from start to finish. others, some of my bigger jobs, even one going on now, 40, 50, 60 hours. >> reporter: and every single piece he creates, he says, is

>> and taking from a drawing to a three dimensional piece that someone can wear and have with them for the rest of their life. i love take process. >> reporter: moore says many of their customers provide family pieces they want recycled into new ones. >> a friend of mine brought in his great grandmother's wedding ring from like 1901, i think it was, and we wanted to keep the diamond setting off of that, but do a whole new lower half of the ring. and so dissenting this -- dissecting this ring that is over 100 years old, knowing there is no room for error and working on it and creating a whole new piece and sodderring it back together thats with a neat experience and that ended up being the engagement ring for his now wife. >> reporter: he say no, sir matter what the occasion is, every experience is one of a kind which makes his business unique. >> it is a focus one-on-one collaboration that you don't get at every jewelry store and

for a free arm bar cover and thousands of car seats are being recalled as well due to a fame hazard. it involves the be safe 35 and 35 elite infant car seats and travel systems that were manufacturerred between object 1, 2014 and july 1 of 2015. the carry handle on these car seat cans crack and breast cancer allowing the seat to fame unexpectedly and posing a risk of injury to the infant. it has received 74 reports of incidents, including one report of an infant receiving the bump on the head when the carrier fell to the ground. those who have registered their product with the company will automatically receive a free repair kit. more blue skies out there today, baugh storm is brewing that will make travel over the pass as little difficult. colin jackson joins us with a complete look at your forecast. thank you. changes are on the way. and someone e-mailed me and said i'm supposed to say the
