>> you're watching news 4 at 11:00 on your side in high definition. >> and good evening everyone, thanks for joining us tonight, i'm joe hart. well, a snowboarder is lucky to be alive tonight after capturing a scary moment in realtime on his go pro, after surviving an avalanche, he faces the possibility of criminal charges. as you see here, what happens as soon as the snowboarder, christian mares touches the fresh powder, being pulled down the mountain by sliding snow. you can see he's even underneath the snow as you watch the video there. he survived this episode and appeared not to be injured, just shaken up a bit but facing prosecution for trespassing, going in to a closed area. >> when the ski patrol says we're not allowing the public to go and ride this, and this particular area has not been

$9.25 and grow $.70 every year until it hits $13. the committee presenting it says the current base pay of $8.25 an hour, not high enough for people to make a living wage and increasing it would boost the economy. but a professor at unr says it's not that simple. >> it's obviously a negative impact, just like any increase in cost would be. if any business cost increases, that tends to discourage business, discourage employment. if you increase the cost directly of employing someone, that discourages employment. it's just obvious. >> now, opponents can still file an appeal to the judge's decision yesterday, the committee to increase the minimum wage has to collect 55,000 signatures before that measure can be added to the november ballot. the economic development authority western nevada known at edawn made a big announcement, jet.com will be coming to nevada, the website is

amazon or ebay. in a statement released today, saying that jet.com plans to hire about 150 employees, that's initially. and then as many as 180 by the end of the year. an additional 350 could be hired within five years. infant deaths on the rise in washoe county, four in the past few months. and it's a big concern, these recent incidents have been because of what they call co sleeping with parents. cribs for kids is a program that focuses on educating parents on safe sleep environments. officials of the program refer all parents to the abcs of safe sleep, a for sleeping alone, b for sleeping on their back and c is for crib, make sure they get in the crib, they say, as soon as possible. >> there's no maliciousness in this. the reason that a parent is co sleeping with their child is because they want to be close to the child or they're exhausted.

killer was denied a trial by the washoe district court judge. reno police looking for two suspects in a shooting that injured a man last night just before 8:00, reno police responded to shots fired on the 2100 block of sutro street, up near hu xwrks g high school. -- hug dwrks high school. they found a man shot in the leg, also a female not harmed. it began when the two victims were walking with an acquaintance, three suspects armed with pistols approached them and demanded money and they shot the victim. tracking down jones and rooney, detectives on the lookout for two others. >> we again we believe we have the firearm that was involved in it. but these two or three other people involved in the robbery shooting, i would still consider them dangerous. >> and this all happened in the same area, the general area, that is, where two other shootings, both fatal have happened in recent weeks. sparks police still looking

a home invasion left two people hospitalized last night. officials tell us the men broke in to a home on the 2,200 -- 2200 block of 18th street, with handguns they ordered the man and woman on the floor, the woman who is pregnant is being treated with pregnancy-related stress as a result of the incidents looking for a four door sedan, two of the suspects with black clothing including hooded sweatshirts, the third wearing all gray clothing including a gray hooded sweatshirt. investigators are still ongoing, investigations, that is, for both of these cases. if you have any information, you're asked to call secret witness or the reno police department at the numbers on your screen. keep in mind you can call, provide information, and still remain anonymous.

at 8:15, the doors open at 7:30. campaign sayhe'll-- he'll be focusing on clinton's plans for people of nevada. breaking news tonight in the toxic water crisis in flint, michigan. the epa administration for the region has resigned and the agency has just issued an emergency order requiring the state to take meet actions to protect the public. stephanie gask has the latest from michigan tonight. >> reporter: the children coming in to this ymca, like every kid in flint who drank the water will have to monitor their entire childhood for led expose -- lead exposure. >> some of the long-term effects, it's ridiculous. >> reporter: 274 pages of documents about the crisis,

-- governor rick snyder. the state agency that ensures months denying the contamination, until october. now the director wrote, i believe now we made a mistake, corrosion control should've been required since the beginning. corrosion control treats the water, preventing lead from leaching in to the system. six months before, on april 25, epa manager miguel dell toro wrote, flint has not been using any corrosion control treatment. on june 24, he sounds the alarm again, recent drinking water results indicate the presence of high lead. no action was taken as state water officials continued to insist the water was safe. even after multiple independent studies proved otherwise. in december, a letter from the task force set up by the governor described the state water agency's response, as one of aggressive dismissal, belittlement, and attempts to discredit these efforts with the

the most important part of the forecast. we will be dry. and mostly clear tonight, to partly cloudy to mostly cloudy by dawn. here's the scene by 9:00 a.m. tomorrow morning, there's the snow in tahoe. and truckee, as well, as we advance through the day on friday, especially overnight in to saturday. look at all the band of snow here showing up. here's the scene saturday early. 4:00, 5:00 in the morning. look at 395 and here's that white band moving on through. here's the chance of a dusting of snow on the valley floor. once we get to saturday morning, you know, it's going to dissipate but down south towards carson city, you could see snow there. well, that will back things up and then look east, that's where the snow will be in the afternoon and the eastern sections of nevada. that will all come to an end saturday night. so the forecast for tomorrow, 54. and a little windy, like, big wind. 20 to 35 per hour with the occasional gust of 40 to 50. here are the overnight lows,
