canceled inbound and outbound flights today and one coming from las vegas had to be diverted to sacramento because of high winds. this is according to a airport spokesperson. she said it's important to check your flight status ahead of time if you are planning to out of -- fly out of reno. >> last week we told you about a robbery on do you of nevada campus but now someone the night happen. we look to the case in this on your side report. the emergency alert system plays a role in all of this. >> thousands of students received three separate text messages to their phones alerting them about a reported armed robbery and assault on campus. but they never received an alert letting them know the incident never happened. i asked university police why. the alerts came with a specific location and a suspect description. >> specifically with a crime

immediately going to begin to do an investigation. >> reporter: the university police department sends the first message out about an hour after the reported armed robbery when a student's mother called their front desk to report the incident. >> we want to confirm obviously the crime but we also have a duty to make sure our campus is aware that there was a potential threat. >> reporter: officers were able to track down the alleged victim at her apartment and she did confirm two men stole cash from her. >> we set an appointment up for the next day to conduct a reinterview of our alleged victim. >> reporter: and in that interview the young woman recanted everything. >> nothing happened on campus, no crime. >> reporter: now the police department's last message repeats "robbery still under investigation.." >> i believe it said still operating normally. we didn't want people to believe the campus was closed because of the reported robbery.

so let's get to the nitty-gritty . we have temperatures with a rain snow mix in the reno area dropping off to possibly -- colder than it has been but 38. and that will really pack an impact into the morning hours with a half an inch to an inch of snow possible on the valley floor. wins will be up to 20 miles an hour overnight. tomorrow we get to 45 with a rain snow mix and it is a healthy chance of that too, 100 percent with gusty winds but not as bad as today. southwest winds responding to what is coming and when the front comes through we will have gusty winds from the north northwest instead of southwest be changed overnight lows dropping off to 18 and 29 northeast end of the state. south of reno reno, hawthorne, 38. look at the highs tomorrow, only the low 40s.
